Job Description

We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer (Frontend) to join Procore’s Resource Management team. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to drive the next generation of construction platform initiatives in a global SaaS infrastructure. You’ll work with our dedicated and talented team spanning Engineering, Product Management, UX and Architects to create and scale the next generation Procore experience on our web platform. You’ll bring your deep experience in Web, Backend, UI/UX, Micro Front-end to evolve our Resource Management products to a platform-oriented approach.


As a Principal Software Engineer (Frontend), you will be primarily responsible for establishing the strategic technical direction, creating reference patterns, and will be additionally responsible for actively driving the effective execution of that strategy for one of Procore’s core product areas. This is a great opportunity to use your leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills to build highly effective systems and practices, foster collaborative relationships, and measure value delivered to our customers.


This position reports to the Executive Director (India) with the opportunity to be located in the Bengaluru or Pune office. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.
 

What you’ll do: 

  • Plan and build, and implement scalable user interface systems that delight users for very complex construction workflows
  • Collaborate with other engineers, designers and managers to understand user pain points and refine great solutions
  • Lead code reviews and documentation, and take on complex bug fixes and architectural improvements
  • Drive the success of projects, from the technical design, implementation, and launch to operation
  • Onboard and mentor other engineers
  • Coach others how to apply architecture patterns common to the team
  • Hands-on development and coding of architecture and systems that meet the test of time for a variety of web modalities
  • Build awareness, increase knowledge and drive adoption of modern technologies, industry innovations, trends and architecture patterns, sharing customer and engineering benefits to gain buy-in
  • Collaborate with leaders across engineering, product management, UX and business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and align technology solutions to business goals
  • Lead efforts to develop predictive capabilities for technology disruption by leveraging broad data sources
  • Establishing and maintaining our overall technology strategy which supports and enables our multi-year corporate and product strategies, and which embodies our P&T and Engineering Principles

 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or comparable work experience
  • 12+ years experience in Software Engineering, Test Driven Development and Design principles for web and full stack applications at scale with distributed architectures
  • Experience with Javascript (ES6), HTML5, CSS and experience with modern Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, AngularJS, Vue).
  • 5+ years experience working on full-stack modern applications and frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Nest.js, React, Typescript, Angular)
  • 5+ years experience in Object-Oriented Program fundamentals, Test Driven Development and Design principles (Ruby, Java, Go, NodeJS, Python)
  • Understanding of the modern frontend ecosystem, including but not limited to bundling, linting, testing and releasing.
  • Extensive experience with modern testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Mocha, Chai).
  • Experience designing and building software in a Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Track record of anticipating technical problems that will fall out of major projects and designing solutions to overcome those problems
  • Strong experience documenting and bringing team clarity to complex solutions
  • Time-honed expertise with modern web development across the entire spectrum of development, testing, staging, deploying, and monitoring
  • A curious mind that is driven to innovate and solve customer problems
  • Strong comfortability with the JavaScript language and ecosystem.
  • Experience in Agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience engineering software systems of medium-to-large scope and complexity.
  • Experience mentoring more junior engineers.
  • Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization and promote a culture of engineering excellence and being well-managed, using opportunities to reuse and inner-source solutions where possible
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change within the organization, promoting innovation and continuous improvement
  • Being comfortable with the overall responsibility and accountability to create and maintain a technical strategy and execution plan
  • Proven track record of distilling ambiguity to clarity and direction

As a member of our data engineering team, you'll be setting standards for data engineering solutions that have organizational impact. You'll provide Architectural solutions that are efficient, robust, extensible and are competitive within business and industry context. You'll collaborate with senior data engineers and analysts, guiding them towards their career goals at Gemini. Communicating your insights with leaders across the organization is paramount to success.

Responsibilities:

  • Focused on technical leadership, defining patterns and operational guidelines for their vertical(s)
  • Independently scopes, designs, and delivers solutions for large, complex challenges
  • Provides oversight, coaching and guidance through code and design reviews
  • Designs for scale and reliability with the future in mind. Can do critical R&D
  • Successfully plans and delivers complex, multi-team or system, long-term projects, including ones with external dependencies

Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $172,000 - $215,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. Requirements

  2. Proficiency in the Ionic Capacitor framework with extensive knowledge of web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Angular framework.
  3. Expertise in database technologies like SQLite, Firebase, Realm, and experience with RESTful APIs and JSON for mobile applications.
  4. Understanding of native mobile development for Android and iOS is highly desirable.

    In charge of leading the development work team and making technical contributions to the development of projects. In addition, is responsible for ensuring that the needs of the client and the organization are met by establishing a fluid and continuous communication, implementing best practices and ensuring the fulfillment of the established development process, without neglecting the concept of continuous improvement and the constant professional development of the people he leads.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identify and meet the information needs of both stakeholders and team members.

    • Ensure that the team works on the development of the deliverables required for the project with the expected quality.

    • Ensure that the equipment keeps the code tests up to date with the changes made by the developed components.

    • Determine data storage, processing and transmission needs according to analyzed requirements.

    • Ensure that the equipment meets agreed development standards and processes.

    • Analyze the high-level requirements of the project and collaborate in the definition and analysis of the specific requirements.

    • Along with the rest of the team, define the development process.

    • Coordinate with the person in charge of architecture or practice leader the definition of development standards based on design principles and best practices to ensure the fulfillment of non-functional requirements of quality, efficiency and maintainability.

    • Perform knowledge transfer to other members of the project team and client vendors.

    • Lead the analysis of defects in the system to find their causes and correct them.

    • Lead the process of analysis of project requirements.

    • Design and implement unit, integration and system testing.

    • Direct the design of software components integrated into the system under construction or maintenance that implement the analyzed requirements.

    • Participate in the implementation of these components.

    • Lead and participate in estimating the effort needed to implement the analyzed requirements.

    • Direct and implement the integration of developed components with the rest of the system (Front End – Back End integration, APIs).

    • Be a reference for the team in peer review of the code of their teammates (peer review).

    • Define and follow processes and standards for handling code in repositories.

    • Verify the fulfillment of the requirements and the correct functioning of the components developed as specified.

    Qualifications

    Tech Skills:

    • Node Back-End expertise (at least 3 years working with NodeJs, NestJs, Typescript, TypeOrm, AWS, Postgres).
    • Unit Testing (JUnit), integration testing (TestContainers)
    • Relational and Non-Relational DBs (Modeling and Optimization, SQL proficiency a plus).
    • Kubernetes knowledge is a plus, CI/CD Pipelines knowledge. React/NextJS knowledge is a plus. Serverless framework knowledge a plus.
    • Proficient creating technical documentation (APIs, Architecture decision logs).
    • Knowledge of microservice architectures, Application Integration Patterns. Knowledge of authentication, authorization, Single Sign On paradigms, platforms and tools (Cognito, Auth0, Oauth2, JWT, OIDC)
    • Web Development (React, JavaScript, CSS, html) is nice to have.

     

    Requirements

     

    Academic Training:

    • Technician or bachelor in Computer Engineering, Computer Science and related, or equivalent level of knowledge demonstrated.

    • Certification of Scrum Fundamentals. (desirable)

     

    Language:

    • Technical and conversational English level C1 according to the Common European Framework.

     

    Working experience:

     

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering.

    • 2 years of experience leading software projects.

    ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
    • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or above in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business, Engineering, or related by hire date
    • Work experience in Data Science, Business Analytics, or Data Visualization preferred
    • Background in healthcare, education, science & technology, and/or commercial a plus
    • Quantitative strengths in the creation of detailed analytical models using Excel advanced functions and various tools are a must
    • Experience using R, SQL and Python strongly preferred
    • Experience using Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent tools strongly preferred
    • Advanced Excel skills with proficiency in PowerPoint and wizardry in visualization of data in any sort is required
    • Experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus
    • Experience with application platforms such as Shinyapps is a plus
    • Candidate must have the ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment
     
    The salary range for this position is $57,000  to $71,250 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances.     Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:
