World Surf League is hiring a Remote Product Operations Analyst

The World Surf League connects millions of fans across the globe to live competition and surf related content through our own and operated website and apps. As the Product Operations Analyst, you will help ensure the optimal fan experience by managing the daily operations for our digital products portfolio, ensuring we deliver best in-class live surfing events through active monitoring and incident management. You will be the central contact for our team and our production partner during live events. As an integrated member of the Product team, you will also be responsible for conducting QA of our owned and operated platforms. Focus areas will extend from live event monitoring, digital platform support and QA, partner management, and all event-related responsibilities including writing playbooks and post-mortems. 

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Work with the Broadcast team to deliver best in-class live global surfing events
  • Manage the end-to-end live streaming workflow for owned and operated platforms
  • Monitor and troubleshoot stream-related issues in real-time
  • Compile incident reporting for major issues
  • Determine operational priorities, and identify risks early; planning contingencies as needed
  • Perform cross-platform QA of live and non-live products
  • Refine live operations for digital broadcasts and deploy standards to ensure operational excellence of our live products to support our global tour schedule
  • Support our partners in North America and across the globe in producing live events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, preferably in a technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in live broadcasting, streaming operations, gaming or event production
  • Experience with live events is highly desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of digital platforms - Web, iOS, Android, Connected TV
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies (HLS) a plus, not required
  • Experience conducting QA on digital products and/or debugging using tools like Charles
  • Experience with monetization of display and video advertising
  • Familiarity with multi-day, live-spectator events
  • Strong verbal and communication skills with the ability to solve problems and drive results with cross-functional teams
  • Passion for sports, especially surfing, is helpful.

As the Art Director, you will lead the World Surf League’s efforts in creating groundbreaking creative design concepts and directions to push the boundaries of creativity, innovation, impact and engagement in surf. Your work will involve driving a collaborators’ visions while aligning with brand objectives. Your experience in brand design coupled with an appetite for creativity will be the driving force to create impactful work across a range of mediums within a fast-paced, dynamic and live sport environment.

This is a full-time position, within a hybrid team based in El Segundo, reporting to the SVP, Marketing and Talent.

RESPONSIBILITIES (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Actively conceptualize and design ideas to build into fully integrated campaigns
  • Actively create brand marketing content through design, graphics and motion (in partnership with additional creatives internally and externally)

  • Be a team player! Contributing to team meetings and ideations against any/all initiatives both within the department and cross-functionally

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 4-6+ years of creative agency or creative brand experience
  • Fluent with design best practices
  • Emphasis on surfing, action sports and/or live sports or relevant examples
  • Must have strong design aesthetic: typography, photo-retouching and layout
  • Current with design, fashion, social and online culture trends
  • Understands consumer insights and finds ways to leverage them
  • BA, BFA in design, arts, or communications
  • Exceptional work ethic, self starter, team player and good vibes no egos
  • Expert with Adobe Creative Suite, Google

The World Surf League is seeking a narrative-driven, passionate and innovative Associate Social Video Producer to join our Content team. This position will report directly into the Social Media Manager.This position will be responsible mainly supporting the creation, editing and social publishing of our visual assets across our social channels. The candidate will have the incredible chance to shape the WSL's presence in the global surfing community by producing, scheduling and publishing content mainly focused on Instagram and TikTok as well as Facebook and X.

In a global sport, this team member will need to possess versatility, adaptability, extreme organization, and knowledge of both current social and surfing landscapes. The position will be local (Los Angeles) with the potential for event travel in alignment with our yearly competition calendar. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Identify, create and publish engaging social-first content that champion’s the WSL’s values in supporting our global audiences and viewership on our social channels [FB, IG, X, TikTok, YT]
  • Proactively build consistent content for our key narratives; inclusive of surfer-first and personality driven, from planning through execution
  • Supports team in live event coverage with graphics, video editing, community management, and live publishing
  • Cultivate and develop relations by staying connected to surf communities, engage with followers, creators, and influencers through comments, and direct messages 
  • Collaborate with other surf content creators, brainstorm and find ways to create and produce compelling stories
  • Identifies community voices and creators that our platform can help amplify the passion for surfing and competitive global surfing
  • Assist in content creation for various elements of the organization, including WSL One Ocean and Partnerships

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3+ years of experience in social media and content creation
  • Must have strong working proficiency of Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator 
  • Must haveproficiency and understanding of social-first editing processes, formats [Vertical first], sequencing and best practices
  • Ability to work with phone, camera and audio equipment comfortably 
  • Attention to detail and composition with a strong passion for storytelling
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively
  • Passion and deep knowledge of the professional surfing world is critical
  • Motion design experience, a plus
  • Capcut experience, a plus
