Field Application Scientist - UK North/Scotland

As a Field Application Scientist,you will be engaging with customers daily and delivering instrument and applications trainings at customer sites, while providing experimental design, data analysis, logistical, and troubleshooting support across your region. You will be a key contact, in conjunction with in-house Technical Support, for responding to issues and maintaining relationships with customers. The primary goals of this position are to ensure rapid adoption and maximum customer success with 10x Genomics’ products.

What you will be doing:

Communicate:

  • Acting as a key point of contact between the customer and company
  • Keep customers informed and trained on advancements in 10x technology and software
  • Coordinate and perform customer site trainings and demonstrations
  • Identify, document, and communicate customer issues, complaints or concerns to management
  • Maintain accurate records of customer-facing activities and customer complaints/inquiries within the customer relationship management (CRM) systems

Connect:

  • Scientifically partner with customers as they develop their research utilizing 10x technologies
  • Create and maintain positive working relationships with customers
  • Collaborate in scientific discussions with customers, cultivating long term relationships
  • Gather and deliver strategic and competitive customer feedback
  • Work closely with the sales team within the territory to assist with pre-sales discussions and customer events, work strategically within the territory plan, and communicate any potential opportunities as appropriate.

Support:

  • Troubleshoot issues related to user's technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software and instruments
  • Interpret customer needs and identify the proper issue escalation pathway within 10x
  • Support field sales team at trade shows, seminars and technical symposiums (including presentations and networking with thought leaders)
  • Handle potentially stressful situations calmly and adroitly

Minimum Requirements:

  • MS with extensive experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics or genetics
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with NGS workflows and data analysis software and/or spatial biology
  • Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and systematic troubleshooting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding presentation and training skills
  • Ability to maintain records for customer sites and provide high level feedback to management
  • Willingness to travel up to 70%

Preferred Qualifications and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Genetics
  • Previous customer facing experience 
  • Hands-on proficiency with common molecular biology bench techniques and/or histology techniques
  • Broad knowledge of genomics
  • Single-cell or spatial biology laboratory experience 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team towards corporate goals

About This Role

iRhythm is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Clinical Research Scientist to provide leadership in clinical study design, analysis, and medical/scientific writing as part of its PRISM organization:

This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a highly collaborative team comprised of medical and scientific leaders tasked with driving iRhythm’s product innovation, development of clinical strategies, and evidence dissemination. The Senior Clinical Research Scientist is responsible for the leading scientific aspects of clinical research for assigned project(s) and will work closely with Clinical Research Operations, Biostatistics and Data Management, other iRhythm functions and external partners to deliver impactful clinical evidence. The Senior Clinical Research Scientist, in concert with the clinical director, is accountable for achieving successful delivery of clinical team activities at the project level by meeting company and regulatory requirements according to time, quality/scope and budget constraints. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the United States. Candidates much have a reliable internet connection and dedicated workspace to ensure productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively manage project-level scientific aspects of clinical research projects, including study design, analysis, and evidence dissemination
  • Support the Clinical Science function in development of clinical evidence strategies
  • Work closely with internal (product management, regulatory, R&D, data management and biostatistics) and external (clinical thought leaders and other subject matter experts) stakeholders to ensure robustness of clinical findings and alignment of evidence to iRhythm strategic goals
  • Lead development of clinical study design and study protocols for prospective trials in support of market clearance and post-market clinical evidence.
  • Develop analysis plans and study protocols for targeted analysis of existing datasets, including prior device registrations and other real-world evidence
  • With data management and biostatistics, drive analysis and interpretation of prospective clinical data and real-world evidence
  • Lead evidence dissemination for clinical applications and product programs through a)scientific writing including drafting and submission of conference abstracts and peer-reviewed journal articles, b)development of poster and slides for scientific meetings, and c)collaboration with internal and external co-authors through steering committees, investigator meetings and 1-on-1 communication
  • Cross-functional support of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and regulatory teams, including development of US and Global regulatory-clinical documentation (e.g., CSRs, CERs)
  • Participate in review of external investigator-initiated research proposals for scientific merit and alignment with iRhythm objectives
  • Periodically provide updates on study progress, and with respect to project plan.  Partner with clinical research operations to ensure timeliness of clinical study execution, mitigation of project risks, and adherence to quality standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.

 

About you:

  • Advanced Degree in Biomedical Science or Health-related field required (MD, PhD preferred)
  • 7+ years of clinical science or clinical development experience in medical device or related industries or in high-performing academic medical centers/universities, or academic or commercial research organizations (AROs/CROs) knowledge of clinical research operations including GCP and ISO 14155
  • Clinical research experience in heart rhythm disorders, atrial fibrillation, cardiac electrophysiology, cardiology or a related field. Cardiovascular experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in observational study design and execution (health services and outcomes research) as well as clinical trial design
  • Strong understanding of causal inference
  • Working knowledge of metrics associated with diagnostic testing accuracy (i.e., Sensitivity, Specificity, PPV, NPV)
  • A demonstrated working knowledge of GCP, FDA and EU regulations regarding medical devices and SaMD
  • Substantive experience with study design including clinical trials and observational designs
  • Understanding of basic and intermediate biostatistics. While not expected to perform complex statistics, and understanding of commonly applied biostatistical approaches and causal inference is critical.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in writing clinical study reports, conference abstracts, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals; experience with US and EU clinical-regulatory documentation is preferred (e.g., 510(k), IDE, PMA, and CER)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, regulatory affairs, and R&D
  • Experience in program management and project oversight, including high visibility projects
  • Read, write and speak fluent English; ability to present information to a variety of audiences
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally is required, it is anticipated that this will be less than 30 % of work time

Primary

The Field Application Scientist (FAS) is responsible for supporting the technical business functions of Fortis Life Sciences in a pre-sales and post-sales manner with an emphasis on the nanoComposix portfolio. General Functions

  • Become an expert in all applications supported by Fortis products including proficient knowledge in experimental set-up, troubleshooting, and accessory products/instrumentation
  • Conduct ongoing product and application presentations and trainings for customers
  • Participate in internal global field application calls to maintain knowledge and proficiency of all products and applications
  • Troubleshoot issues with on-market products as needed
  • Communicate with customers and commercial organization on a routine basis, keeping all parties informed and up to date
  • Learn new product portfolios as they become available and train internal team and customers on new offerings

Pre-Sales Functions

  • Understand the technical details of open opportunities and be able to discuss a technical strategy with the account manager to ensure a successful win
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations remotely and in-person
  • Technically compare the benefits of Fortis products and highlight the shortcomings of competitive products
  • Assist in mapping out bulk strategy for key accounts by recommending product type and volume based on customer’s needs and workflow  

Post-Sales Functions

  • Answer e-mails and phone calls from customers in timely manner
  • Escalate issues to manager when necessary and design customer facing plans to help customer troubleshoot and resolve issue within timely manner
  • Document knowledge in solutions within Salesforce.com for field team to access and reference as needed
  • Host remote trainings and presentations for customers
  • Follow-up with customers to ensure customer adopting product into workflow successfully

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, or engineering required. Masters or PhD preferred
  • 2+ years working in a technical commercial role supporting customers in pre-sales and post-sales situations
  • 2+ years practical experience working with nanoparticles in diagnostic, lateral flow, nanomedicine, or other life science applications
  • High degree of computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to utilize computer-based tools for reports, email and for general communication

Skills & Knowledge

  • Life sciences, biotechnology, nanoparticles, nanomedicine, diagnostics, antibody-based assays, flow cytometry, imaging, lateral flow assays, ELISA
  • Excellent oral and written English communication, including communicating in a way that a non-technical end user can understand
  • Ability to think, learn, and solve problems quickly
  • Ability to operate independently and remotely with at least 1 weekly meeting with supervisor
  • Organized, well prepared, and maintains a professional appearance and conduct
  • Ability to maintain flexible travel schedule during the work week

As a Distinguished Architect at ServiceNow, you will be a leader with a track record of architecting and incorporating Intelligence into products.  Your expertise will be instrumental in driving our AI initiatives to new heights, with a focus on cutting-edge technologies, including deep learning, large language models (LLMs), natural language processing and conversational assistants. 

What you get to do in this role:

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product:  

Work with engineering and product on incorporating the AI technologies into the ServiceNow roadmap. You will be expected to innovate and find new and better ways to replace complex frameworks with powerful AI technologies that are scalable and require far less maintenance. 

  • Build elegant architectures:  

You will help build elegant architectures that are easy to understand, maintain and enhance over a period.  

  • Architect reusable components:  

You will build frameworks for reusable components that can be leveraged across multiple teams. For example, you may build a framework for developing conversational assistants for the finance industry that can leverage data from all our customers with their permission.  

  • Influence Leadership:  

Champion AI strategies, technological advancements, and industry trends to ServiceNow's leaders shaping the direction of AI-driven initiatives. Influence peers and stakeholders in driving technical, product and business direction.  

Perform competitive analysis: 

You will conduct a thorough competitive analysis of various AI products and technologies. 

  • Thought Leadership:  

Share your expertise and insights at prestigious AI and technology conferences, elevating ServiceNow's brand and positioning us as a trailblazer in the AI industry. You will publish blogs, papers and patents. 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Master’s Degree, PhD preferred with 14+ years of engineering or AI/ML experience and 8+ years of AI/ML experience.  
  • ServiceNow is a rocket ship, and you need to have the passion, drive and work ethic to create business impact with mentoring, not supervision. 
  • Proven track record of leading and contributing to innovative AI research and development projects, culminating in bringing at least multiple innovative AI products to market, demonstrating your ability to translate research into real-world applications.  
  • Demonstrated ability to drive creativity and innovation in AI projects.  
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in LLMs, deep learning, NLP, NLU, BERT, GPT, NLP, and related AI technologies.  
  • First principles thinking, for example you should be able to write a neural network with backpropagation in Python, Java or C++ without using existing libraries. 
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

For positions in the Bay Area, we offer a base pay of $237,800 - $416,200, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. Your impact
