Overview

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of talented engineers dedicated to ad technology, as well as DevOps, tooling, and automation. This includes direct oversight of software engineers, ensuring that our systems run smoothly, efficiently, and with optimal quality. You will work closely with the Director of Ad Operations and cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain robust ad tech solutions. Your experience with Consent Management Platforms (CMP) will be critical in navigating the complexities of compliance and data privacy within our advertising systems. 

Responsibilities 

• Oversee and lead a team of software engineers in ad tech and other technical fields, handling recruitment, performance management, and professional development. 

• Oversee the development and maintenance of advertising systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. 

• Collaborate closely with the Director of Ad Operations, Product, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and priorities, ensuring that business needs are converted into technical solutions. 

• Implement and maintain Consent Management Platforms (CMP) to ensure compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), prioritizing user trust and data security. 

• Develop, refine, and enforce best practices for engineering, including code quality, testing, and deployment processes. 

• Conduct regular code reviews and ensure adherence to security standards. 

• Develop testing protocols that guarantee ad system stability and quality. 

• Analyze performance metrics and make data-driven decisions to enhance ad tech solutions. 

• Manage project timelines, ensuring the delivery of high-quality ad solutions on schedule. 

• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in ad tech to ensure the team remains innovative and effective. 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 

• 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role. 

• 3+ years of experience in ad tech engineering. 

• Strong technical background in ad technologies, including experience with ad servers, SSPs, DSPs, and programmatic platforms. 

• Proven experience working with: 

• Programmatic advertising, RTB, and header bidding 

• Consent Management Platforms (CMP) 

• Google Publisher Tag (GPT) 

• Google Ad Manager (GAM) 

• Prebid.js 

• Strong experience with HTML5, JavaScript, and TypeScript. 

• Excellent front-end debugging experience that could involve debugging obfuscated JavaScript code. 

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions. 

• Familiarity with data privacy regulations and industry standards. 

Desired Qualifications 

• Technical knowledge of DevOps, tools development, and QA automation as this role oversees engineers in those fields. 

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. 

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies. 

• Familiarity with games or web platforms.

Overview

Arkadium is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior QA Engineer to join our dynamic QA team. In this role, you will have the chance to work on a variety of exciting projects, with a focus on automation. While our primary tools include Cypress and Playwright, you will have the flexibility to explore and integrate other testing frameworks and tools, depending on the unique needs of each project. This could include established solutions or modern technologies, giving you the freedom to innovate and adapt as necessary.

This position will allow you to contribute to multiple high-impact projects, where you will play a key role in crafting and implementing innovative quality strategies. You will collaborate with diverse teams, combining your automation skills with manual testing to ensure top-tier product quality.

While this role is remote, candidates must be available to work standard hours from 09:00 to 18:00 in the Western European Time (WET) zone - (Portugal time zone), where most of the Engineering and Product teams are based.

For candidates not residing in Portugal, you will be onboarded as a full-time contractor through our international payroll provider. 

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Cypress, Playwright, and/or other frameworks deemed relevant for the task at hand.
• Perform manual testing (acceptance, functional, integration, regression, and compatibility) as required to ensure the thorough testing of products.
• Analyze both manual and automated test results, prepare reports and communicating findings to drive continuous improvements in product quality.
• Identify, document, and track bugs, collaborating closely with development teams to ensure timely resolutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality strategies tailored to each unique project.
• Balance manual and automated testing approaches, ensuring the right tools and methods are applied to each project.
• Contribute to the development of the overall testing framework, helping to explore and integrate new testing tools as project needs evolve.
• Provide mentorship and support to junior QA team members, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Build and integrate automation tools into the SDLC, optimizing processes across the board.
• Foster a quality-first mindset within the team, helping shape and implement testing strategies that align with broader project goals.

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a QA Engineer, with strong skills in both manual and automated testing.
• Strong experience with automated testing tools, such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium/Appium, Puppeteer, or Robot Framework.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Proficiency in modern web technologies, including HTTP(S), JSON, XML, and RESTful services.
• Strong experience in cross-browser and cross-device web testing across multiple screen orientations, including mobile.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with backend testing (Swagger, API testing, stress/load testing, etc.).
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and at least one programming language (C#, Java, Python, JavaScript).
