We are sniffing around for a dog & consumer-centric, entrepreneurial Head of Growth and Marketing who shares our dedication to making all dogs happy and has proven experience in delivering world-class experiences. This pivotal role involves shaping the future of BARK Air, developing marketing and growth strategies to enhance our service offerings, building awareness, reach, and scale. Key Duties:

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive integrated marketing plans across demand generation, product, brand, content, communications, partnerships, customer experience (CX), customer relationship management (CRM), and public relations (PR) to build a full-funnel actionable strategy.
  • Scale high-impact demand generation programs focused on revenue growth, optimizing the sales funnel from lead capture to customer retention, and enhancing marketing automation to improve conversion rate (CVR), average order value (AOV), lifetime value (LTV), and velocity.
  • Craft compelling integrated marketing campaigns for target segments, enhancing BARK Air’s market presence and customer acquisition.
  • Oversee competitive positioning and pricing strategies to enhance market share and customer engagement.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to continually refine marketing strategies, identifying opportunities for growth, acquisition, retention, and expansion across various market segments.
  • Implement digital marketing, PR, partnerships, direct sales, and influencer strategies to drive brand visibility and business growth.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement within the marketing team.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in leading growth and marketing for luxury brands, with demonstrated results in strategy, digital marketing, social media management, content creation, PPC, and successful email/SMS campaigns.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage complex projects and budgets effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a knack for turning data into actionable insights.
  • A history of entrepreneurial, resourceful approaches to challenges, ideally within a startup or new product launch environment.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Proven track record of success in senior marketing leadership roles within the hospitality or airline industries.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a history of building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Deep passion for our mission to make all dogs and their people happy with best-in-class CX throughout their journey from discovering BARK Air to booking tickets, to travel and post-purchase.
  • Innovative thinker capable of operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong relationships across various stakeholders.
  • Must be comfortable working independently in a small team setting where autonomy and self-sufficiency are crucial.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking, demonstrated by a history of fetching revenue growth and market expansion.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must love all dogs, be ok with excessive dog hair and handy with a lint roller.
  • This position may involve frequent interaction with dogs and their owners, requiring a genuine affinity and understanding for canine needs and behaviors.

PAY TRANSPARENCY FOR NJ/NY BASED APPLICANTS: 

  • The base salary range for this position is $155,000 - $300,000
  • This position is eligible for equity 

**This compensation range is based on BARKs good faith estimate as of the date of this posting and may be modified in the future. Actual pay for this position will depend on a variety of variables including location, travel, internal equity, experience, education, skills and expertise.

WHO WE’RE SNIFFING FOR

We’re seeking a hands-on Lead Data Scientist to become a key contributor to BARK's data-driven decision-making process. Your expertise in uncovering insights and trends will not only shape personalized marketing strategies but also influence many aspects of the business, from marketing to product development to finance. In this role, you will combine technical prowess, leadership, collaboration, and innovation to enhance customer experiences, contribute to science-driven marketing and make a tangible impact within our unique dog-loving ecosystem.  You know what it takes to bring your work to production and know the job isn’t over once you’ve deployed. 

KEY DUTIES

  • Marketing Analytics: Apply machine learning and statistical methods to drive targeted marketing campaigns, improving customer engagement and ROI.
  • Improve Key Metrics: Apply data-driven approaches to create recommendations aimed at improving key performance metrics such as retention, campaign and funnel conversion, new subscribers, customer lifetime value, and more.
  • AI/NLP: Drive innovation through the use of AI and mining of our unstructured data for insights.
  • Communicate Results: Proactively and clearly communicate results and insights to relevant stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable business strategies.
  • Collaborate And Mentor: Work and coordinate closely with peers, mentoring them in applying data science methodologies. Engage in cross-team collaborations to align data science initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Stay Current & Innovate: Keep abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies in data science, continually seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement within BARK's data-driven strategies.
  • Analyze Data:Analyze and manipulate raw data to extract insights and drive decision-making. Utilize statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to uncover patterns and trends.
  • Create Pipelines & Tools: Design and implement data processing pipelines, visualizations, and internal tools for comprehensive analysis.
  • Production:Responsible for bringing models into production and monitoring their performance.

EXPERIENCE

  • Machine Learning & Statistics: Experience in applying machine learning algorithms and statistical concepts to real-world problems, generating insights, and creating actionable recommendations. Knowledge of various supervised and unsupervised learning techniques is essential.
  • Python Programming: 4+ years of hands-on experience writing readable, modular Python code. Proficiency in data manipulation, analysis, and algorithm development is required.
  • Data Handling:Proven ability to handle varied and complex data, including experience working with large datasets, data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation.

Streaming/Real time: Experience with online learning, streaming and low latency inference is a bonus.

  • Industry Experience: Experience in data-driven marketing, forecasting, or product development is essential. Cross-functional work experience preferred.
  • AI:Familiarity with LLM models, embedding techniques and information retrieval strategies is desirable.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate results and concepts to relevant stakeholders, including c-suite partners.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Collaboration and teamwork, comfortable leading projects, coordinating peers and mentoring those around you.
  • Adaptability:Demonstrated aptitude and appetite for picking up new technologies and methodologies, adapting to changing business needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Sharp analytical mind with meticulous attention to detail and understanding of nuance.
  • Business Acumen: Passion for growing and strengthening a business using data-driven approaches, with an understanding of key performance metrics.
  • Statistical Analysis: Breadth of knowledge in statistical concepts and techniques, with the ability to apply them in diverse contexts.
  • Machine Learning Expertise: Familiarity with popular python-based machine learning frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, xgboost, and PyTorch.
  • SQL Mastery: Ability to write complex SQL queries and perform data manipulation across multiple data sources.  Redshift and BigQuery experience is a plus.
  • Linux/Bash Skills:Moderate grasp of bash/Linux, including scripting and system operations.
  • Education:Advanced degree in machine learning, computer science, mathematics or a related field.
