Key Role Responsibilities: 

  • Build and maintain new innovative product features focused on actively learning new areas of the product
  • Collaborate with owners for different product features to gain insight and offer constructive suggestions for improvements
  • Be an active participant in design/architecture discussions sharing your ideas while building the next generation of features for the Sezzle platform  
  • Hands-on with our codebase and a contributor to code reviews
  • Mentor other engineers who are starting along their career path
  • Work with the team to continuously build and deploy scalable solutions
  • Assist in planning, estimations, and completion for projects brought up by the team stakeholders

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Experience solving technical problems as part of a team
  • Bachelor's in computer science (preferred) or equivalent related experience 
  • Familiarity with modern Frontend Development, with React experience preferred
  • Ability to solve problems with backend-focused languages like Go or similar compiled statically typed language
  • Intermediate understanding of relational databases like MySQL

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in writing automated tests for applications (unit, integration, end-to-end)
  • Familiar with the basic principles and design of RESTful APIs
  • Basic knowledge of a Microservice Architecture

  • Contribute to backend development, focusing on performance and scalability
  • Optimize database performance, particularly PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
  • Implement and maintain robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
  • Take operational responsibility for the services that we own, including taking part in an on-call rotation

They must be able to provision, manage, and secure cloud infrastructure with expertise through infrastructure as code implementations at an Individual Contributor Level. The Principal Cloud Architect must possess effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders internal and external to the organization.

Required Skills:

• Three-plus (3+) years of experience developing production software leveraging modern languages (including: Java, Python, Go, NodeJS, etc.)

• One-plus (1+) years of experience developing containerized services deployed in production on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Mesos, Swarm, etc.

• Exceptional understanding and experience building and maintaining Kubernetes clusters across hybrid-cloud infrastructure

• Three-plus (3+) years of experience with agile and lean software development philosophies.

• One-plus (1+) years of experience working with relational and/or non-relational databases e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch etc.

• Two-plus (2+) years of demonstrated experience with modern version control systems such as Git, Subversion, Mercurial, etc.

• Within 90 days - CompTIA Security+ CE or other DoD 8570 IAT II certification

• Seven-plus (7+) years of demonstrated experience working as a software engineer leveraging large scale cloud infrastructure as their primary application platform.

• Seven-plus (7+) years of demonstrated experience building declarative infrastructure using modern Infrastructure as Code techniques

• Two (2) or more examples of successfully leading software, data center, and/or on-premise infrastructure engineering teams in adoption of cloud, hybrid and on-premise cloud-native architecture.

• Demonstrated deep understanding of modern security best practices for cloud infrastructure and networks

• Three-plus (3+) years of demonstrated experience building declarative infrastructure using modern Infrastructure as Code techniques

• Two-plus (2+) experience in scripting (PowerShell, JSON, and Python)

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join the Portfolio Data Workflows team within our Core Product Engineering organization.

Our team is focused on building outstanding user experiences, powerful APIs, and sophisticated analysis and visualization tools for our global customer base of Financial Advisors and Wealth Managers.

We partner closely with a world-class team of designers and product managers, and put the experiences of our customers at the forefront of every initiative.

Our products are rapidly being adopted across the Wealth Management industry, and as we modernize and upgrade our core product, we are also making use of our APIs to build out entirely new products and features. We pride ourselves on delivering robust, secure, and highly usable applications.

The Portfolio Data Workflows team builds our core investment portfolio APIs and user interfaces, allowing our customers to define their investment portfolios, specify calculations, investigate data discrepancies, and visualize legal structures.

Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.

The current range for this role is $144,000 - $225,000(base salary)  + bonus + equity + benefits.

About the role

The Appian Developer delivers and supports several internal apps on the Appian platform for Oscar. Pay Transparency
