About the Role

Elysium Health is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our platform and data engineering team. This role involves overseeing sprint planning and management, data engineering and architecture, platform engineering and DevOps, and team leadership and development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, agile methodologies, data architecture, and platform engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sprint Planning and Management
    • Lead the planning, execution, and review of sprints, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivery timelines.
    • Collaborate with product management, engineering teams, and stakeholders to define sprint goals and priorities.
    • Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
  • Data Engineering and Data Architecture
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust data architecture and engineering solutions.
    • Ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility across the organization.
    • Lead initiatives to optimize data workflows, storage, and processing for scalability and performance.
  • Platform Engineering / DevOps
    • Direct the development, deployment, and management of scalable and reliable platform engineering solutions.
    • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline development processes and improve deployment efficiency.
    • Foster a culture of automation, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution within the engineering team.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, promoting best practices and continuous learning.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product management, and design, to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
    • Advocate for engineering needs and priorities within the broader organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in software development teams
  • Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams, with a track record of delivering successful projects.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, sprint planning, and sprint management.
  • Expertise in data architecture, data engineering, and related technologies.
  • Proficiency in platform engineering and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and monitoring.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically in a fast-paced environment.

    • Data Architecture & Warehousing:
      • Design and manage the overall data architecture and ensure the integrity, efficiency, and reliability of our data warehouse.

    • Strong SQL skills required; expertise with languages and frameworks such as Python or Node.js strongly preferred.

The successful candidate will be able to learn, grow and develop a skillset touching all the phases of the supply chain including production, inventory management and logistics while reporting director to our Director of Supply Chain. Through this role you will be able to see how a product is commercialized and the positive impact these products are having on the daily lives of our customers.     Responsibilities:

    • Issue POs and maintain production schedules to ensure on-time production and delivery across all suppliers and internal team members.
    • Optimize service, in-bound transit, and inventory levels by SKU at each location of the global supply chain network.
    • Closely collaborate with a global network of suppliers, with a focus on long-term relationship building, capacity planning, production update, and timeliness.
    • Reconcile POs, refine the inventory model on a weekly basis and model scenarios and understand impacts of changes to demand, supply, and distribution assumptions through our direct-to-consumer and expansion channels.
    • Partner with the team to iterate and implement new processes by identifying process inefficiencies and making recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Work closely with internal team members on projects developed to streamline unit economic efficiencies and new product development.

    Qualifications:

    • 1 - 3 years of experience in supply and inventory planning, ideally in a CPG environment.
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to develop inventory models to support a complex supply network.
    • Ability to communicate, project manager and be transparent with a strong sense of bias towards action with various cross-functional teams, and suppliers.
    • Keen sense of attention to detail and are comfortable in going head-on with bigger picture projects.
    • Committed and driven to manage with detail each stage of the product life cycle and its corresponding documentation.
    • As a remote first team, you can match demands of being engaged in a virtual setting and able to travel to our main office (NYC) or directly to the suppliers when needed.
    • Experience with ERPs including Netsuite.
    • Sense of urgency: bias towards taking action. Self-starting capability required to achieve high expectations in a fast-paced environment.
