What you’ll do:  

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong software expertise to develop a safe, reliable and performant object tracking system. You will: 

  • Lead the design and development of robust software applications for real-time object tracking. 
  • Utilize your proficiency in object-oriented programming principles to design efficient, testable and maintainable tracking algorithms. 
  • Collaborate with a creative team of engineers and researchers to solve multi-disciplinary problems. 
  • Improve how our vehicles act and react in complex and nuanced situations. 

What you’ll need to Succeed: 

  • Bachelors of Science with 6+ years of relevant work experience in computer science, robotics, or related technical field 
  • 5+ years of experience writing production code using modern C++ on Linux    
  • Strong proficiency with software architecture and design methodologies. 
  • Strong understanding of probability theory and linear algebra. 
  • Ability to write clean, documented, and performant code for real-time embedded systems. 
  • Proactive, team spirit and open communication.

The Financial Crimes Technology team at Cash App detects and reports illegal and suspicious activity on Cash App. We work globally with partners in Product, Counsel and Engineering to ensure we are providing a safe user experience for our customers while minimizing or eliminating bad activity on our platform.

We use Machine Learning and Generative AI as an important part of our toolkit. As Cash App scales, we monitor hundreds of billions of dollars in transactions across traditional payment and blockchain networks. Our machine learning systems monitor and surface suspicious activity (money laundering, illegal activity and terms of service violations) for agent review. Our systems block payments in real-time where appropriate. We use generative AI technologies to improve agent workflow and case review tools, by adding features that accelerate agent productivity and allow them to make more informed and accurate decisions. We are looking for a senior MLE that can integrate vertically into the ML sub-team and focus on building/enhancing tools, libraries, frameworks, developer environments etc. for ML modeling workflows.

This is an IC role reporting into the Data Science and ML Modeling Manager that has leadership responsibilities including driving strategic roadmaps and priorities to completion by collaborating with cross functional stakeholders.

You will:

  • Design, build and enhance batch and real-time inference services and tooling that support our ML use cases
  • Facilitate modelers on the team by unblocking access to the infrastructure/tools necessary for development including MLOps

This unique role will have the ability to innovate across many domains – from automating HMBS pooling procedures, to developing consumer facing Marketing Applets for lead generation, to driving sales efficiency through new tools and applications -- The position will require an in depth understanding of the business and the ability to produce innovative solutions to complex problems, as well as the desire to take a leading role in their implementation.

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field, and have 5+ years experience with programming and data architecture.

Candidate may be based remotely. Some travel to NJ/NY may be required occasionally

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build software solutions, managing the end-to-end software development life cycle
  • Improve and build upon existing Data Architecture for greater scalability and to automate manual processes and reporting
  • Follow best practices to write high-quality, secure, scalable, light-service, and efficient code with limited guidance
  • Develop and maintain visually appealing consumer facing UI, integrating backend services for a seamless user experience
  • Create technical documentation throughout the lifecycle of the development such that long term maintenance of applications can be handed off
  • Work hand in hand with stakeholders to develop clear project requirements, and ensure timelines are met
  • Deploy software in adherence to LBF change management and SDLC policies

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • You have at least 5 years of hands-on development, programming, and data architecture experience
  • You are a self-starter, and enjoy owning projects from ideation through deployment
  • You have strong problem solving and technical skills
  • You are comfortable in a start-up culture, requiring the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited oversight
  • You are comfortable weighing various priorities and considerations, from user experience and security to efficiency, scalability, and strategic goals to create holistic solutions
  • You have designed consumer-facing enterprise products
  • You have strong communication and project management skills working with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with modern programming and database languages, such as: React/Angular, WordPress, SQL, Python
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops environment is a plus
  • Experience in finance or the mortgage industry is a plus
