Nextiva is currently seeking bright and talented individual for a Platform Engineering Managerposition to join our expanding voice platform engineering team. The position is responsible for managing and leading a team of high-performing platform, DevOps and voice engineers, focused on the integration, supportability, and engineering of voice platforms. This role has a strong focus around supporting the software development organizations, interacting with, and providing systems too, in addition to co-joining on the CI/CD process of delivering carrier grade voice quality systems to our customers.  A commitment to collaborative problem solving, delivery and execution excellence, and solid procedural frameworks is essential.  The candidate must be self-driven, highly motivated, have a sharp eye and attention to detail, responds quickly when needed, and has sound decision making skills. 

 As aPlatformEngineering Manager, your team willassistin the developmentandimplementationof automating the build process, tooling needs for running platform operations,and developing automationtestingforquality assurance of delivered platforms.Youwillassistin the design and execution of project starts,facilitateand drive project milestones,provide logistical input for tactical planning and execution,allocatingstaffing resourcesand deliverables. 

The responsibilities of aPlatformEngineering Managerrange from: workingwithsenior level leaders, product managers, program/project managers, and other stakeholders to implement and deploycloud basedrelatedtechnology platformsYou lead a team thatwill develop and define the software frameworks for tooling and automation,build andassistoperations teams in building,integrating observability tools, and engineering support of internal teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and organize the team to meet core engineering schedules / technical roadmaps and commitments to ensure that they deliver the highest value
  • Participate inandfacilitateaspects of quarterly planning, refinement, milestones, and KPI’s
  • Plan andallocateresources in teams to meet expectations on medium and long-term roadmaps
  • Facilitate the development cycle of engineering tooling and automation codebase andframework
  • Support leadershipinlife cycle management and strategic planning
  • Management of large-scale distributed systemsincluding life cycle, deploymentlogistics, and management information base
  • Define, implement, andmaintainengineering schedules
  • Define and build reoccurring project templates tooptimizeworkflows and efficiencies
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the teamandresolvingconflicts between project delivery times
  • Facilitate development and knowledge sharing processes, personal growth within the team
  • Establish and enhance metrics, process, workflows, and engineering documentation
  • Help to attract andretaina team of highly skilled Engineering professionals that are well aligned in their understanding of both company and departmentalobjectives, direct and evaluate their work, and provide feedback and guidance to ensure skillsremainrelevant
  • Continuously improve how the team functions and delivers maintenance andcapacity
  • Supporting agent for incidents and escalations to thePlatformOperations team
  • Supporting agent for peer reviewing change requests and related Change Management questions

 Qualifications 

  • At least 3+ years of technical leadership role, with 2 years’ experience in people management role, with 6+ years in systems and platform engineering technical roles
  • A software development and operational background with experience in real-time communications voice infrastructure including mobility; preferred knowledge of FreeSWITCH, Kamailio and Coturn
  • Solid understanding of public cloud space (GCP preferred) infrastructure, security compliance, IaC, build and deployment methodologies
  • Solid understanding scripting languages like Terraform, Ansible, JavaScript and Python
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD and distributed architectures, ability to read and troubleshoot Java code base
  • Solid knowledge of WebRTC and VoIP related to protocols and architecture 
  • Strong systems reliability engineering including capacity planning, performance, scalability and life cycle management
  • Solid SRE best practices, including reliability, monitoring, availability, and incident response
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in problem solving, identification, troubleshooting and solutions
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritizing multiple objectives and initiatives
  • Able to work in a team environment and with a diverse group
  • Flexibility in working times with Nextiva international employee base

Typical Office Environment:Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking. May be required to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted. May be required to lift over 35 pounds using assistive device and/or team lift. Requires significant use of personal computer, phone and general office equipment. Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects. Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.

The expected hiring range is $115,000 - $204,400. A different level in the job hierarchy may apply to a specific candidate, resulting in a different hiring range.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Leadership and Team Development:
  • Lead and mentor a team of automation engineers, fostering technical innovation and career growth.

  • Developer Enablement:

    • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks to enhance developer and quality enablement.
  • Quality Assurance and Metrics:
    • Define and track metricsto evaluate delivery performance and identify improvement areas, e.g., DORA metrics - deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery
    • Drive robust test automation strategies to enhance reliability and ensure consistent quality across releases.
    • Ensure comprehensive testing coverage, including functional, integration, and end-to-end tests, with an emphasis on SOA and microservices.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Team Alignment:
    • Partner with engineering, DevOps, and architecture teams to align automation strategies with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate on service integration testing, contract testing, and system-level quality initiatives.
    • Facilitate discussions on tooling, best practices, and automation priorities across teams.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Proven experience managing or leading technical teams in automation engineering or developer enablement.
    • Expertise in designing and implementing automation frameworks for SOA and microservices architectures.
    • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, with a focus on maintainability and scalability.
    • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and build automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform).
    • In-depth understanding of service integration testing, contract testing, and system reliability testing.
    • Demonstrated success in measuring and improving DORA metrics across teams.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with cloud-native technologies and platforms (e.g., AWS).
    • Familiarity with developer tooling and software cataloging tools and practices (e.g., Backstage, SonarQube, IDE plugin development)

    The Role

    Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) partner directly with key technical & strategic counterparts at Addepar's largest enterprise engagements.     FDE operates as an extension of the platform rather than a services organization.     Who You Are

    • 2+ years experience as a professional Software Engineer
