About the Role:

Hims & Hers is seeking an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to build and maintain the platform that reliably fulfills customer orders and prescriptions at scale. As a key member of the Fulfillment and Pharmacy Engineering Backend team, you will define, build, test, deploy, and support our self-service platform for Fulfillment Operations and Pharmacy teams.

You Will:

Design and build backend services that power our telehealth and ecommerce platforms
Collaborate with product managers, principal engineers and your team to guide decisions

You Have:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
5+ years experience as a software engineer including languages such as Java and Kotlin
3+ years of experience with back end distributed system design, development and delivery, preferably in an eCommerce environment
3+ years of experience with microservice architectures
Experience with Domain Driven Design
Experience with design, development, delivery and management of microservices hosted on Kubernetes and AWS
Experience with agile software development and delivery methodologies
Proficiency with continuous integration/delivery including automated unit and integration test strategies
Proficiency with Relational Databases, PostgreSQL preferred

The opportunity

As a Software Engineer, Infra you will be a key player in building and enhancing the reliability and observability of our services across the engineering organization. You will be part of a centralized team focused on improving incident management, introducing auto-scaling and resilience mechanisms, conducting chaos testing, and self-healing. Your work will be instrumental in establishing a center of excellence for reliability, establishing and evangelizing best practices, and developing tools to scale these practices across all engineering teams.

In this role, you will:

Use modern infrastructure management tools and services like AWS to build a massively scalable platform for Grammarly’s services.
Be an ambassador for Operational Excellence - building and continually improving incident management tooling and processes.
Implement proactive reliability improvements to reduce manual intervention and increase reliability. This includes automated deployment improvements, canary analysis, self-healing mechanisms, and autoscaling.
Manage cloud-native infrastructure solutions, such as cross-service infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters and deployments, auto-scaling tool sets, and service discovery.
Build solutions and frameworks to spin up, test, deploy, and observe Grammarly’s service reliability.
Participate in on-call incident response and escalation procedures.

Qualifications

Has a minimum of 7 years of experience managing live production SaaS environments with high load.
Is experienced in working on a centralized reliability or SRE team configuration.
Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure solutions such as container orchestration and service discovery in Kubernetes-based environments.
Background in software development or engineering roles with a focus on reliability.
Is knowledgeable on all things Reliability and how to scale those solutions across the engineering organization.
Is knowledgeable of AWS —or has deep expertise in Azure or GCP and is willing to learn AWS quickly.

What you bring

Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience;
5+ years of experience in security engineering or comparable experience (DevOps, SRE);

Experience in designing and definition of secure cloud native systems;
Experience with applied cryptography including PKI, SSL, and key management;

Right now, we are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer. You will be ensuring reliability for large-scale software - we’re talking 22k+ customers, over 6000 instances across geo-distributed Data Centers and Cloud providers, as well as an average of 2k API requests per second as per New Relic. People who own their work from start to finish are integral to Egnyte’s success. Our engineers are part of the whole process: from design through coding and testing to the deployment and back again for further iterations. We are looking for a mid-level engineer eager to apply software development approaches to operations. You can, and will, touch every infrastructure level depending on the day and the project you are working on.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Maintain and monitor our environments in a 24/7 rotation system, partial night shift coverage

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in an SRE/SysAdmin/DevOps or equivalent role - at least +4 years

Practical knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
Familiarity with at least one of the monitoring tools (e.g. Icinga, Newrelic, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTSDB)
