The Senior Services Engineer will assist with design and implementation of solutions, and provide ongoing operational support for customers’ information systems with onsite requirements.

The engineer will also be required to assist with our Support Desk tickets. This candidate will report to the head of the Managed Services team and work alongside other systems engineers and Support desk staff. This is a client-facing position and excellent communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide timely and competent response to technology support request
  • Provide quality desktop, server, and network-level support
  • Communicate technical information effectively to clients and internal management
  • Configure LAN and WAN topologies, server staging, and deployment
  • Provide Tier 2 or Tier 3 Support Desk support

Required Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of a two-year degree preferably with emphasis on information systems or technology management (Or the equivalent combination of experience and training)
  • Five years experience of Tier 2 or higher technical customer support or senior level projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Minimum of 6 year’s experience performing computer systems and network troubleshooting
  • Extensive knowledge of workstation operating systems, applications, networks and networking technologies, as well as technology management tools
  • Expert knowledge of Windows server and desktop operating systems, e-mail systems, firewalls and network security

Qualifications

  • Ensure appropriate documentation of the implementation is generated, maintained and delivered with the implemented services for effective hand-off and transition to the Operations Support Center (OSC)

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years as a systems administrator or engineer responsible for Managed Service Provider (preferred) or Enterprise

    • VMware vSphere v5.5 through v6.7 and storage arrays. Experience with vCloud Director and NSX are a plus
    • Disaster recovery technology, not including backup solutions

    • Scripting/automation/orchestration experience in a production environment (Example: Powershell, vRealize Orchestrator, Ansible, Python)
    • Remote Desktop Services

Position Summary:

As a Splunk Systems Engineer, Sr. on our team, you have the chance to implement best in class engineering strategies to support a large distributed clustered Dynatrace and Splunk environment consisting of Search Heads, Indexers, Forwarders, Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) app spanning security, performance, engineering, and operational roles. Be the engineering voice in helping recognize and onboard new data sources into Dynatrace and Splunk along with other monitoring tools, analyze the data for anomalies and trends, and building dashboards highlighting the key trends of the data. Analyze solutions for profiling, monitoring, reporting, and testing on the platform. Monitor the responsiveness and availability of critical websites and web applications from the end-user perspective. Manage application availability, performance, and proactively find performance bottlenecks. Enable integration of Splunk Core, Splunk ITSI and Dynatrace development of the single pane of glass dashboard, including integration with ServiceNow ITSM. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in a Splunk ITSI engineering role supporting SOC or NOC environments
  • 3+ years of experience with business and IT Service monitoring, intelligent incident management and machine learning and predictive analytics
  • Accredited ITSI Implementation Certification (a higher Splunk ITSI certification) or 3+ years experience in ITSI in a production environment can be substituted for certification
  • Experience with Dynatrace or AppD and in data engineering with Splunk ITSI for both ingestion and extraction
  • Experience in a production environment with performing and coordinating service decompositions for 2+ years & experience maintaining Splunk and Dynatrace and its underlying infrastructure
  • Experience with Windows and Linux Operating systems, services, daemons, containers, and VMs
  • Experience with troubleshooting and identifying root cause issues, service tree mapping, experience in alerting Service Now
  • Experience in creating and maintaining TA's (technology add on) and UF (Universal Forwarders)
  • Ability to support cloud integration efforts with Splunk and Dynatrace
  • Masters's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or technical equivalent and 10 years professional experience or a total of 20 years in lieu of education

The Role: Implementation Systems Engineer

Reports to the Systems Manager in the Services team. Work with a cross-disciplinary team to engineer customized systems including event-driven application logic, PLC logic, control panels, sensor selection, kinematic and process simulation, custom coding, and analysis. Document systems in a functional specification for each customer project. Provide technical consulting services to customer and third party integrators. Oversee installation and testing at customer sites. Review installed systems with service and product teams for ongoing support and product improvements.

Provide electrical, mechanical, and software engineering to integrate Seegrid products into the customer's automation ecosystem.

 

The successful completion of your first year looks like:

  • First six months: assist with several projects, including onsite work. Lead the design of a basic system integration.
  • Next six months: lead integration specification, documentation, and installation of projects with assistance from the team.

 

Responsibilities will consist of:

  • Quote estimated labor for projects based on complexity
  • Created detailed AutoCAD drawings of routes and/or hardware components
  • Create process logic rules to fulfill scoped customer requirements
  • Advise customers on Modbus and HTTP communication protocols
  • Create, program, modify Siemens/Rockwell/Beckhoff PLC logic
  • Meet with customers to detail out workflow, system recovery, process logic
  • Create JSON/XML formatting specs with customers
  • Create process flowcharts
  • Design electromechanical controls interfaces
  • Document all project work in a thorough, detailed functional specification
  • Track project status in Salesforce
  • Travel to site and test systems for go-live

Position Summary:

As a Splunk Systems Engineer, Sr. on our team, you have the chance to implement best in class engineering strategies to support a large distributed clustered Dynatrace and Splunk environment consisting of Search Heads, Indexers, Forwarders, Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) app spanning security, performance, engineering, and operational roles. You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in a Splunk ITSI engineering role supporting SOC or NOC environments
  • 3+ years of experience with business and IT Service monitoring, intelligent incident management and machine learning and predictive analytics
  • Accredited ITSI Implementation Certification (a higher Splunk ITSI certification) or 3+ years experience in ITSI in a production environment can be substituted for certification
  • Experience with Dynatrace or AppD and in data engineering with Splunk ITSI for both ingestion and extraction
  • Experience in a production environment with performing and coordinating service decompositions for 2+ years & experience maintaining Splunk and Dynatrace and its underlying infrastructure
  • Experience with Windows and Linux Operating systems, services, daemons, containers, and VMs

  • Experience in creating and maintaining TA's (technology add on) and UF (Universal Forwarders)

The Role:  Senior Functional Safety Systems Engineer

The Senior Functional Safety Systems Engineer reports to the VP of Systems and Solutions Engineering. The successful completion of your first year, looks like:

  • Demonstrate fluency in the safety standards governing mobile industrial robotics such as ANSI B56.5 and RIA 15.08.
  • Understand the current design and implementation of the functional safety system for Seegrid’s products.
  • Build a risk assessment of new products/solutions in compliance with applicable safety standards (B56, RIA15.08, etc.)
  • Train internal teams and external customers, as-needed, to ensure safe implementation and operation of Seegrid’s automation solutions.
  • Define, in collaboration with Product and Engineering, a technology development plan to advance Seegrid’s functional safety system.
  • Lead the development of processes to rapidly and effectively  respond to incoming safety issues

Responsibilities will consist of:

  • Carry out all necessary safety assessments and establish requirements for Seegrid automation solution safety system design.
  • Develop and document the conceptual safety design and architecture for Seegrid’s collaborative robot and software solutions, at the systems, hardware, and software levels.
  • Be a lead contributor to internal safety-related committees and engage with customers and customer-facing teams to provide supporting material regarding system safety.
  • Support the development, evaluation, and testing of the safety-related functions
  • Coordinate assessments from external certification authorities
  • Collaborate with product development teams to integrate functional safety early in the design process.
  • Engage with product teams to design a functional safety technology development plan that supports Seegrid’s product strategy and roadmap.
  • Remain current on, and potentially directly influence, industry functional safety standards.

Required Experience

  • You have an electrical, mechanical, software, or similar engineering degree and development experience in the field of electronics, embedded software, or systems design.
  • You have work experience in a safety critical field and working knowledge of IEC 61508, ANSI B56.5, ISO 13849, and/or ISO 26262.
  • Experience in working with external certification authorities, such as TÜV
  • Most of all you have a drive to advance the state of functional safety in industrial robotics and the communication and collaboration skills to work across and outside the company to make this a reality.

Desired Experience:

  • At least five years of experience with functional safety in collaborative industrial robotics.
  • Experience in designing functionally safe system and software architecture and taking such systems through certification.
