Software Development Engineer in Test

At Acquia, quality engineering drives the quality tool chain and process in an open and collaborative environment. To ensure that we have a repeatable process and systems to thoroughly test and uncover defects, quality engineering uses best of breed tools for automation and testing frameworks in conjunction with in-house tooling, infrastructure and services.  SDETs are embedded in each agile development team to facilitate and lead the testing strategy, and test automation requirements for every iteration and release. The quality engineering team also regularly meets to review and improve overall testing processes, automation, innovations and best practices. Each SDET works both independently and as part of a product group, where developers write tests and the quality engineering team supports the testing infrastructure and automation. In addition, they provide guidance for best practices and develop testing systems for smoke testing, behavioral testing, stress testing, performance testing, as well as supporting quality metrics.  

 

Our SDET is a strong voice for quality that actively pursues quality improvements, writing code, developing new infrastructure and tests to support our fast paced, highly diversified development organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work together with product managers, agile product owners, architects, tech leads and engineers to ensure the quality of our products
  • Participate in technical discussions for products and test infrastructure
  • Execute Quality best practices, tools, and methodologies
  • Identify areas for improved testing efficiencies, test automation and implementation of automated test solutions
  • Constantly evaluate the test automation strategy and approach to identify areas of improvement (i.e. test automation frameworks, coding standards, etc.)
  • Participate with developers in writing prolific test case code using Ruby, PHP, Java, Go, etc
  • Build and maintain efficient test frameworks and pipelines for performance, stress, and integration tests
  • Work in an agile model as part of a team to develop fully automated test cases for functional, unit, and integration testing
  • Take a hands-on approach to implementing QA processes right from requirements analysis, test design, implementation, automation, execution, maintenance and analysis

 

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of hands on experience working on QA automation including functional, system, integration and regression testing
  • Experience in developing test automation for Backend applications
  • Well versed with backend API automation, tools/framework development necessary for the same 
  • Strong hands on knowledge about testing concepts and understanding of database concepts, OOPs concepts 
  • Strong working knowledge of various test types including client/server, white-box, black-box and positive/negative
  • Solid test design skills, test case writing, automation and analysis
  • 1-3 years programming experience in any of the web languages (go, php, ruby, java) or equivalent
  • Experience with shell to utilize command line tools
  • Experience with continuous integration and build tools (i.e. Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Travis)
  • LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) stack experience
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes/docker/containers

 

Nice to have:

  • Hands on experience with AWS/Azure/GCP/OpenStack
  • Familiarity with open source software

How can you help us? 

You will:

Build, configure and operate Google Cloud Platform (GCP); plus Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), Containers and Kubernetes Clusters GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) as code.

Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, orchestration, DevOps best practices, etc.

Research, evaluate and recommend resources for the CI/CD platform and GCP.

Develop, debug, improve code refactoring to deliver and maintain infrastructure (Terraform) and configuration (Ansible, Puppet, Foreman) lifecycle, automation and innovation initiatives, ability to drive automation initiatives independent of automation tools.

Work on Image management as code using Packer.

Manage vendors for specific and specialized support when needed.

Ensure that IT Services are delivered effectively to business customers. This includes the execution of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), management of IT Incidents/Problems and IT Changes as per well-defined ITIL processes, as implemented in the ITSM system (ServiceNow)

Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery wherever possible.

You have:

Solid experience in Cloud engineering, architecture, and administration (enterprise scale) focused on Google Cloud Platform:

  • Solid experience withIaaC: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Foreman.

  • Experience supporting IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS based solutions.
  • Linux OS engineering, architecture, and administration including:
    • Automation and self-service solutions

Knowledge of Azure fundamentals (IAM, network, security, etc.), plus working experience with (provisioning of / migration to / support of) Azure Server & Storage resources.

    About the Role:

    The Azure Sr. Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the successful implementation of Azure architectures and environments. The Azure Sr. Cloud Engineer will act as an expert and trusted advisor who provides guidance for transforming legacy implementations to the cloud. This role will work closely with clients, partners and other business units to ensure consulting engagements are successful. 

     

    What You’ll Do:

    • Responsible for design, development, and hands-on implementation of Microsoft Azure cloud solutions
    • Serve as a Microsoft Azure technical resource in team’s efforts to determine the needs of our client’s businesses that will simplify and automate the applications as well as make them more efficient
    • Participate in planning, implementation, and growth of our customer's Azure foundational footprint
    • Work closely with other Trace3 architects and engineers to recommend and design infrastructure, database, or data storage solutions that effectively reflect our client’s business needs, security, and service level requirements
    • Work with application and infrastructure teams to conduct proof of concepts (POCs) and implement Production-ready designs in Microsoft Azure
    • Align solutions with standards and best practices working with cross-functional engineering and consulting teams
    • Perform risk analysis & create mitigation strategies for continuous evaluation and validation or system design and architecture
    • Ability to produce as-built documentation and materials
    • Ability to design, build, and execute automation frameworks for deployment of MS Azure Cloud Environments (based on ARM templates, Terraform, Powershell, others)
    • Support pre-sales activities when needed
      • Collaborate and communicate with Sales and Account Management team to ensure smooth and successful delivery and assist with the identification of additional Advanced Services and Sales opportunities within the customer’s environment
      • Establish strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers in client organizations
      • Contribute to the development of internal best practices as well as new innovative consulting services offerings that we can take to market

    Qualifications & Interests:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
    • 2 years of experience with implementation and support of infrastructure services on MS Azure, including exposure to some of the advanced services and features such as Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, and Azure Log Analytics
    • 3 years of experience with current operating system administration (Examples: Windows, Linux, Ubuntu and CentOS)
    • 2 years of experience with APIs, performing commands through CLI to perform implementations and third-party integrations
    • 2 years of experience with cloud network connectivity and ExpressRoute, and ability to troubleshoot cloud connectivity issues
    • Previous experience working for a consulting or services organization strongly preferred
    • Azure Cloud Platform Certifications are required

    • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash

    Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage a team (2) of Cloud Operations specialists in US
    • Will be tasked with serving as the primary point of technical escalation contact
    • You will be responsible for being the point of contact for any operational escalations within the organisation.
    • Ensure that the Incident management process is running as expected, and that the operations team is handling incidents in a timely and efficient manner.
