We are hiring a DevSecOps Engineer to work on a pivotal Federal program that is making a positive impact on millions of Americans' daily lives.

What you'll be doing:

Working hand in hand with great devops engineers building out devops best practices in the federal space. This will include creating and documenting CI/CD jobs, creating infrastructure with terraform, writing ansible playbooks, and building tools. 

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience with AWS CloudWatch Logs and AWS S3 (with versioning and lifecycle policies) to store immutable audit logs for monitoring and forensic investigations
  • Experience with tools like Cloudbolt, Amazon EC2, S3, EFS, Amazon Linux 2 with MATE Desktop Environment, Agency approved Development and Data Science software, including DBeaver, Python, R, Java, various Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and text editors, among others
  • Skill in developing and improving CI/CD scripts and services for development and deployment
  • Experience with Security Tools and Frameworks like NIST 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP
  • A team player with the desire and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of developers, managers and product managers
  • Experience working with and supporting Terraform
  • Experience working in Agile software development teams

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain off-the-shelf and custom test automation frameworks for our C# and NodeJS based applications deployed to Kubernetes.
  • Improve code coverage for our unit, integration, stress and end-to-end testing.
  • Drive our software development process toward quality-centric methodologies,  automation, and efficiency.
  • Work directly with engineers on our backend and devops teams, our QA analysts, and operations and broadcast teams.
  • Perform manual testing for any backend systems that do not have automated tests in place.

  • Strong experience in Python (including Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-Learn) for data processing and machine learning model construction.
  • Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write complex queries and optimise data retrieval from relational databases.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable requirements:

  • Create and foster the use of process standards and templates (e.g., project intake, project charter, project kick-off, requirements creation, user acceptance, status reports, meeting agenda, project schedule and release plan, product backlog, issue/risk logs, retrospectives, user stories, etc.) and facilitate the capture of product and project documentation as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create, structure, and direct analyses as required, supported by hypotheses, collecting data, executing analyses, and synthesizing findings
  • Create and conduct regular reviews with IT management, functional management, and executives such that key projects are tracking to defined objectives and key performance indicators and maintain stakeholder alignment
  • Proactively manage the risk, issue, and change resolution process, and work with other leaders to take corrective action as needed.
  • Develop and manage standardized and highly efficient technology services; ensure reliability and scalability of infrastructure in a dynamic environment.
  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of IT operations and observability efforts.

Qualification and Skills –

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 8+ years of management experience in Information technology with expertise in any two from this list - IT operations, Cloud technologies, Command Center, observability, infrastructure, security and technical architecture; 5+ years of experience with managing large teams.
  • 5-7 years of experience with AWS and traditional infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, database, middleware) and ITSM operations frameworks (ITIL, MOF, COBIT, etc).
  • Excellent understanding of at least 8 of the following - AWS EC2, Lambda, Beanstalk, ECS, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, VPC, CloudFront, ALB, Neptune, RDS, Redshift, Aurora, Glue.
  • Proven experience (5 years) managing IT operations.

ABOUT YOU

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of working experience as a software engineer  in one or more large-scale cloud services or application development environment 
  • 2+ Years working with AWS RDS Postgres with a strong knowledge of SQL 
  • Self-motivation and an enjoyment for a growth-oriented startup environment
  • A strong sense of ownership that drives improvements for customers as well as automation and scale for the systems.
  • The drive & ability to dive deep into technical challenges and champion root causes, solving problems correctly. 
  • You enjoy being highly productive, shipping code, reviewing others’ PRs and iteratively guiding code bases towards best practices and excellence. 
  • You are able to scale yourself effectively via junior engineers  and accelerate the team through effective designs, written & communication, delegation, establishing standards & best practices, code reviews. 
  • Strong ability to architect and design systems using common back-end Web technologies (such as Go, Ruby on Rails, Python, etc) in a production environment
  • An ability to balance a sense of urgency with shipping high quality and pragmatic solutions
  • Experience working with a large codebase on a cross functional team

As Staff Backend Engineer, you’ll: 

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable multi-tenant backend services and APIs.
  • Work on technologies such as Node.js, Javascript/Typescript, MongoDB, GraphQL, Apollo, Amazon Web Services EC2, S3, Lambdas, Kafka, and more.
  • Demonstrable solid experience and deep expertise in multiple technical domains.
  • Contribute to building and executing on functional strategy.
  • Lead projects that directly contribute to team and engineering organization's deliverables.
  • Produce and elevate the quality of maintainable, tested, performant, and scalable code.
  • Author, collaborate on, and evaluate design documents.
  • Influence technical designs and team-level prioritization as well as participate in technical solutions.
  • Motivate and empower teammates to achieve a higher level of performance.
  • Collaborate product managers and designers in an autonomous, supportive team environment.
  • Mentor junior engineering in technical skills and Webflow culture.

About you 

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have 7+ years developing and deploying web applications, with a proven track record of shipping code.
  • Are familiar with Node.js and TypeScript and can write scalable services and APIs using Express.js and MongoDB.
  • Have led and mentored other software engineers and helped them achieve their career goals.
  • Can debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
  • Proven experience building complex web systems.
  • Experience with testing frameworks (e.g. Jest, Mocha, Playwright, Cypress).
