As an Infrastructure engineer, you would help us deliver solutions via diverse non-functional environments across our suite of products. Helping design, build, maintain and support the afore mentioned environments to facilitate appropriate validation of the numerous in-house software offerings.

Job activity & responsibilities:

  • Design and build fully self-contained environments (Rigs) to meet business requirements.
  • Deploy, debug and fault find SSS bespoke software installations.
  • Build, manage and integrate third party products such as PBXs, radios and recorders with SSS products.
  • Deploy and test monthly WSUS working closely with SSS divisional security.
  • Provide technical consultation to other SSS engineering, development, and assurance (test) teams.
  • Follow procedures in line with company policy (i.e. Local Procedures or ISO20000-1 defined processes) and suggest and follow-up improvements in line with CSIP.

Qualifications

What we require from you:

  • Educated to HND/HNC level or relevant industry experience with a minimum of 2-years proven experience at a comparable role/s. 
  • Good overall fault-finding skills and process through applied logic
  • A good understanding of Microsoft active directory / domain architecture
  • Good hardware skillset  Dell / HP or equivalent
  • Administering and working with Microsoft Windows 10/11, Windows Server up to 2022
  • Experience deploying Microsoft Windows and server Operating systems via WDS
  • Experience managing and deploying Microsoft Windows Updates (WSUS)
  • Proven knowledge and experience of virtualisation environments (Hyper-V or VMware)
  • Good overall IT skillset with a strong enthusiasm and capability to learn.
  • Strong communication skills able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
  • Due to the nature of the work undertaken, the successful applicant must be eligible for SC clearance.

Guardant’s HPC team builds and operates the computational technology backbone of the company. 

This includes scalable data storage that holds petabytes of genomics data, high-performance compute clusters running a custom bioinformatics pipeline in production and R&D environments, and the software infrastructure that hosts an ecosystem of services for internal data processing and external data integration. To facilitate Guardant Health’s fast growth in the next few years, the HPC team is looking for a strong technical engineer who can help maintain and help grow the HPC infrastructure during its aggressive expansion, while working with corporate IT, SQA, and DevOps/SRE teams.  

While preferred to have someone local to the San Francisco Bay and on premises in Redwood City and Palo Alto, this role can be mostly worked remotely.  While on rotation, during maintenances and during cluster deployments, being present at the location of the work is required. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical lead in day to day operations

  • Help manage the HPC interconnects

  • Help integrate the HPC systems with the bandwidth on-demand system

  • Help integrate the HPC system with the single namespace storage system

  • Help integrate cloud bursting as part of the HPC abstraction work

  • Work with the networking infrastructure team to manage and optimize the connectivity to and from the HPC systems and locales

  • Help manage multiple HPC clusters and cluster file systems. 

  • Help research, develop and implement the next generation HPC solution

Compensation range

About the team

What you will do

Your job scope will involve selecting and working with both cutting-edge techniques as well as proven, off-the-shelf technologies to enable rapid development and continuous integration of our perception, localization, motion planning, and control capabilities for a range of airport driving scenarios, including outdoor vehicle corridor and indoor cargo terminal navigation.

The opportunity offers a technical, hands-on engineer the chance to help develop a market-defining enterprise product that combines autonomous vehicle technology with a robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) business model.

This role will work directly with our co-founders and the Autonomy Lead.

What You’ll Do

  • Define, lead, and own the hands-on creation of reliable data pipelines and DevOps infrastructure — expect to spend ~80% of your time performing hands-on development, with the remaining 20% integrating with our overall software stack, working with a team of world-class engineers to target aggressive milestones.
  • Create and implement best practices for deploying and maintaining software with high reliability and minimal downtime
  • Manage our data pipeline to efficiently handle processing of the largest airport datasets in the world
  • Improve developer efficiency by optimizing various workflows such as build systems
  • Help design systems to handle simulations at scale, architecting solutions to any bottlenecks encountered along the way
  • Monitor AeroVect software on deployed vehicles and build solutions to any bottlenecks encountered

  • Work on world-class solutions to leading infrastructure problems in autonomous airport logistics

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in a DevOps role working on a large scale software product

  • ML Infrastructure Expertise: Proven ability in designing, implementing, and managing, complex Machine Learning pipelines including:
    • Feature Store deployment (Online and Offline)
    • Real-Time/Nearline Data Workflows in support of low latency inference
    • Cluster management and deployment, deployment of GPU based training jobs
    • Familiarity with ML feature tools such as Pinecone, Elasticsearch, etc
  • Technological Mastery: Deep understanding of ML tools, frameworks, and technologies such as Spark, Pandas, Torch etc., particularly their applications in machine learning.
  • Machine Learning Aptitude: Demonstrable experience in applying machine learning techniques to enhance data engineering tasks, with emphasis on model training and deployment.
  • Generative AI (LLMs): Familiarity with large language models such as ChatGPT, LLaMa, or Bard for text generation and Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks.
  • Cloud Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience with cloud-based data technologies, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This includes tools like BigQuery, and Cloud Storage, and a ML stack (Vertex, Ray, or similar) for handling machine learning workflows.
  • SQL Mastery:Strong expertise in SQL with significant experience in data modeling and database design principles geared towards optimizing machine learning tasks.
  • Problem-Solving Prowess: Outstanding problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex machine learning infrastructure challenges and propose innovative, effective solutions.
  • Teamwork Oriented: A collaborative approach to work, coupled with the ability to communicate complex machine learning concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and take input from relevance stakeholders to guide implementation details

While not required, expertise in any of the following areas would be highly advantageous:

  • Containerization and orchestration: Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

Compensation range

$235,000-$260,000

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
