Addepar is hiring a hands-on engineering manager who will bring to bear their expertise, leadership, and platform management skills to create solutions for Machine Learning, AI, and Data Governance.

What You’ll Do

  • Work in partnership with product managers and technical partners to identify requirements and priorities, and map out solutions for challenging technology and workflow problems.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of core Addepar systems, including the Addepar Data Lakehouse. Use these insights to inform a strategic approach for AIML Ops, and Data Governance infrastructure.
  • Create platform-based solutions for the creation, tuning, and deployment of Machine Learning and AI solutions
  • Reduce complexity through the adoption of strategic data architecture and workflows
  • Unlock data value through the enablement of data governance outcomes

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of experience in the software engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience and education that shows proficiency in platform management, particularly in enabling Machine Learning and AI outcomes.
  • A confident and positive outlook with low ego; high degree of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical knowledge of agile practices with an outlook that prioritizes experimentation and iteration combined with an ability to guide teams toward activities and processes that facilitate optimal outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in a cloud context, with automated infrastructure and service oriented architecture.
  • Experience with Data Governance initiatives and a track-record of improving data outcomes
  • Experience with SaaS / Cloud offerings will be a big plus.
  • Experience with Python will be a big plus.

Our engineering stack has PySpark on Databricks at its core; so experience in these technologies is preferred.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of Engineers, Data Scientists, and innovation management Experts that excel in driving innovation in software engineering, A.I., and data analytics, to foster advances in key sectors such as banking, security, health, finance, creativity, and lifelong learning.

Your main duties will be:

  • Technical Project Management (project’s effort allocation, task plan, projects' progress overview, participation in calls & meetings).

  • In 90 Days: Contribute to design discussions and independently deliver high-quality code for assigned features. Participate in investigating and resolving production issues.

Salary Range Information

About the role:

The mission of Borrowing Decision Scientists is to improve the customer and business outcomes through better automated decisioning, using Machine Learning and Statistical modelling. We have a primary focus in credit risk modelling, with our expertise also applied to predict and optimise utilisation, pricing, collection and marketing.

You will be taking a hands-on technical leadership role among a small team of very experienced and self-sufficient Decision Scientists. With in-depth knowledge and experience in the credit industry, you’ll drive innovations by identifying new opportunities of data and ML applications, and delivering business values across multiple Borrowing products. You’ll have a close relationship with leaders across Credit Strategy, Model Validation, Products and Engineers, to drive and influence strategic decisions and product roadmaps. You’ll also have the opportunities to work with external data suppliers and industry peers, to push the innovation frontiers for the credit industry.

With excellent technical skills, you’ll also spearhead the continuous development of our toolings, methodologies, and processes, to empower the team build better models easier and faster. You’ll serve as the champion for the quality and efficiency of model development, and ensure safe and scalable growth of our model portfolio. You’ll also have plenty opportunities to work with other modelling teams across Monzo, to collaborate on the best practices and latest technologies.

We're looking for an experienced Principal Data Engineer to join our Data Platform Engineering team. Our team is responsible for enabling H&H business (Product, Analytics, Operations, Finance, Data Science, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, Engineering) by providing a platform with a rich set of data and tools to leverage.

You Will:

  • Serve as a technical leader within the Data Platform org. Provide expert guidance and hands-on development of complex engineering problems and projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including product management, engineering, analytics, and key business representatives to align the architecture, vision, and roadmap with stakeholder needs
  • Establish guidelines, controls, and processes to make data available for developing scalable data-driven solutions for Analytics and AI
  • Create and set best practices for data ingestion, integration, and access patterns to support both real-time and batch-based consumer data needs
  • Implement and maintain data governance practices to ensure compliance, data security, and privacy.
  • Design and lead development on scalable, high-performance data architecture solutions that supports both the consumer side of the business as well as analytic use cases

You Have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with over 12 years of Data Architecture and Data Engineering experience, including team leadership
  • Proven expertise in designing data platforms for large-scale data and diverse data architectures, including warehouses, lakehouses, and integrated data stores.
  • Proficiency and hands-on knowledge in a variety of technologies such as SQL, Bash, Python, Java, Presto, Spark, AWS, data streaming like Kafka, RabbitMQ,
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency with data stacks including Airflow, Databricks, and dbt, as well as data stores such as Cassandra, Aurora, and ZooKeeper
  • Experience with data security (including PHI and PII), as well as data privacy regulations (CCPA and GDPR)
  • Proficient in addressing data-related challenges through analytical problem-solving and aligning data architecture with organizational business goals and objectives
  • Exposure to analytics techniques using ML and AI to assist data scientists and analysts in deriving insights from data
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address data-related challenges and find optimal solutions
  • Ability to manage projects effectively, plan tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and ever changing environmen
