About the Position

We are looking for a Global Director of Product who will bring deep technical and leadership skills to the helm of’s Product team, at an exciting moment for the organisation.

Our Product team is responsible for developing and stewarding’s activism technology to uplift and enable the work of campaigners and organisers around the world. Our tech stack includes website platforms including hundreds of diverse sites, broadcast communication tools including email and SMS, advocacy tools, forms, organising and fundraising platforms, CRM systems and data analytics.

As Director of Product you would lead the team to strategically assess the needs of the organisation, shape’s technical direction, ensure the best use of resources, and steward the team through an upcoming period of change and opportunity. You would empower the Product team to run impactful projects, product upgrades, build new capabilities for the future and work seamlessly with the wider organisation. This is a vital role at a crucial moment for the climate and wider movements we amplify and support.

In close collaboration with the Head of Public Engagement and as part of the PE Leadership Team, you will be instrumental in connecting the big picture of product goals with our wider vision for effective engagement; our blueprint to build a stronger, better connected, and more powerful climate movement. This includes bringing leadership and the product team’s expertise in testing and understanding our audiences to initiatives such as:

  • Resourcing the Movement: We channel people’s emotional responses to the climate crisis into clear actions they can take. We will continue to build our supporter base with a focus on the Global South to strengthen our campaigns globally.
  • Strengthening our role in shifting the overarching discourse on climate action: In order to achieve our ambitions, and be a part of the change that the world needs so urgently today, we will coach tech expertise internally and in the wider movement 
  • Developing as a leader and innovator in the tech-for-good and social justice movement sectors.


Product Strategy & alignment

  • Own the Product Strategy, vision and roadmap, part of our overarching Engagement Strategy, and ensure alignment with the organisation’s broad goals and objectives.
  • Work with the Product team leads to weigh up strategic priorities for the development of our data, engineering, organising and campaigning and CRM systems, and how they will work together to advance the mission.
  • Inform senior leadership level decisions with strategic insight and context on innovations and adaptations to technology in support of organisational decisions, with relevant cost and timeline considerations.
  • Help develop and champion the strategic priorities of the Public Engagement department and drive cross-organisational collaboration around crucial engagement themes such as:
  • Inclusive engagement experiences: designing new ways to ensure the voices of people from around the world - especially those of the youth and indigenous and frontline communities - are represented and responded to
  • Movement support: Turning people power into a critical change-making lever, oftentimes playing an important behind-the-scenes role to amplify the work of key movement groups such as the burgeoning youth climate activists’ movement
  • Safety: Enhancing digital security as this becomes an increasing area of concern for activists
  • Innovation and partnerships: Offering thought leadership in how technology can advance social change, and exploring collaborative projects that leverage partnerships across sectors to drive tech-led projects that support the movement.
  • Justice: Intentionally using JEDI principles (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) as a key lens to highlight the intersectionality of climate and social justice issues in all our work
  • Data-informed decision making: Encouraging a culture of learning and strategic use of testing to guide investments in the years to come

Management & leadership

  • Line manage 5 functional product leads.
  • Coordinate team-wide spaces and calls, nurturing collaboration, learning, experimentation and product thinking.
  • Develop team-wide ways of working and tactical approaches to collaboration and priority-setting.
  • Mentor and coach team members and support their professional development.
  • Ensure smooth working relationships focused on open communication, mutual support, and proactive resolution to potential problems.
  • Develop excellent relationships and  collaboration between Product and other teams. Ensure Product is able to effectively work with other departments and teams, maintaining open communication and agreement on the working relationships.
  • Allocate budgetary and staff resources to meet the needs of the team and the organisation


Leadership and Management:Talented manager of people and projects in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment. ​Ability to set and operationalize strategic goals, inspire people, set clear expectations, provide guidance and support, and recognise great work.

Technical:​ To support’s varied, global and multilingual work, we use a broad tool stack which currently includes Wordpress multisite networks, Action Kit, Salesforce, Controlshift, Action Network, New/Mode and Big Query amongst others. Our team generally strives to use the best activism tools available and customise, adapt and integrate them to our needs - we often build custom integrations and APIs to connect those tools. You do not need to be an expert in every tool in our current tech stack but you will be proficient in the use of similar digital platforms and familiar with non-profit sector or activism technologies and ways of working.

You should have significant experience with multiple platforms, technical stacks and languages. Our integrations between different platforms, as well as our data warehouse, rely on cloud hosted services to process and transfer data. Our website uses custom APIs to pull information from multiple sources. You will be called on to make decisions on technical trade offs and approaches.

Communication:​ Outstanding communication skills. Ability to effectively craft and deliver concise and informative communications. Ability to listen to and address concerns of others, and to transfer and translate information from one level or team of the organisation to another.

Required Qualifications 

  • Hands-on technical experience.
  • Experience managing a team of 5 or more. 
  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years of experience in technical or technical management roles.
  • Experience developing a long term strategy for technology and collaboration with other departments and teams.

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences 

  • Experience managing budgets, containing costs. Including controlling and monitoring costs on cloud platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of web architecture - from the browser to the database.
  • Experience with developing and integrating data analysis and reporting systems.

As a Director of Product Strategy, you’ll …

  • Define and lead the product strategy, ensuring it aligns with the overall company strategy and objectives
  • Develop and own data-driven product insights, in partnership with the Insights team, and use it to inform our product strategy and business decisions

About you

You’ll thrive as a/an Director of Product Management if you:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in management consulting, finance, investment banking, product strategy, product management, product marketing, or a related role in the technology sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership position
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
  • Able to get your hands dirty in the data to extract insights, write queries, suggest experiments to run to get signal on theses
  • Have owned the product strategy for high-growth companies & teams
  • Deep understanding of the web development market, AI, including current trends, technologies, and competitive landscape.
  • Have a passion for building websites and have ideally built websites yourself in the past or have worked on products for builders (e.g. designers, developers) before
  • Are an influential communicator of strategy and vision, a strong cross-functional collaborator and partner

Job Title: Product Strategy Director

As the director of product strategy, you will be responsible for leading the development and validation of new product concepts and business cases for our product portfolio. You will work closely with the product development, marketing, and sales teams to understand the market needs, customer pain points, and competitive landscape. You will pull together market research, financial analysis, and feasibility studies to assess the viability and profitability of new product opportunities.

Essential functions.

  • Lead the ideation and generation of new product concepts for our product portfolio, leveraging your technical and business expertise.
  • Develop and present compelling business cases for new product initiatives, including the product vision, value proposition, target market, revenue model, and go-to-market strategy.


  • Knowledge & Application
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments and innovations in the ag tech industry and the row crop agriculture sector.
    • Identify and prioritize new product enhancements and improvements based on customer feedback and market trends.
  • Complexity & Problem Solving
    • Monitor and evaluate the post-launch performance of the new products, including the analysis of the sales, revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction, and market share.
    • Ensure market research and customer interviews to validate the product-market fit, customer needs, and product requirements.
  • Collaboration & Interaction
    • Work with the marketing and sales teams to define and execute the product launch plan, including the product positioning, messaging, pricing, promotion, and distribution.
    • Collaborate with the product development team to provide input on the technical specifications, product features, and user feedback.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, agriculture, business, or related field; Master’s degree (MBA) or PhD preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in biotech product strategy, product management, or business development, preferably in the row crop agriculture sector
  • Strong knowledge of the row crop industry, market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape
  • Proven track record of developing and launching successful biotech products, from concept to commercialization
  • Excellent analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and information into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels

The Opportunity: 

Culture Biosciences is looking for an Associate Director of Product. You will own our portfolio of upstream bioprocessing equipment including hardware, software, and single use consumables. You will be responsible for launching products, driving accelerated adoption of our products & services, increasing revenue, market share, and profitability through effective product development, life cycle management, and coordinating marketing & training for the product portfolio.

What you'll do:

Product Planning and New Product Introductions

  • Lead product launches to ensure successful product commercialization.
  • Serve as product champion with internal teams and engage directly with customers as the product SME.
  • Lead / support cross-functional teams: R&D, operations, marketing, commercial and external partners to execute programs following a stage gate process.
  • Create / evaluate various product offerings and pricing scenarios to enable fast adoption upon launch. This can include Hardware-as-a-service, Software-as-a-Service, Hardware/Software/Consumables bundles, and Service offerings.
  • Develop a 2 to 4-year product roadmap through market research and voice of customer (VOC) data.

Product Life Cycle Management

  • Develop the positioning strategy of all products and services considering price, volume, share and profitability.
  • Provide input for regional promotional tools, sales strategy, and product pricing to meet revenue/margin goals.
  • Drive continuous improvements to maintain and/or improve market penetration and share position.
  • Implement proactive strategies to strengthen the product line’s competitive edge.

Product Line Performance

  • Lead and prioritize cross-functional activities to improve overall product line performance including market adoption, revenue growth, margin improvement, cost reduction, quality and delivery.
  • Develop & present quarterly and annual report to leadership on product sales activity to budget, market and channel trends, key customers, and competition.

Marketing and Training

  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to develop appropriate collateral support including catalogs, launch kits, sales communications, instruction sheets, etc., for driving sales (web enabled).
  • Develop materials for the assigned products and lead or support training programs.
  • Specify, plan, and participate in industry conferences and exhibitions.

About you:

  • BS degree in Science or Engineering is required; MBA or MS or PhD degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years, product management, R&D or market development experience preferred.
  • Experience in one or more upstream process development operations for protein therapeutics and/or viral vector production is preferred.
  • Experience with single use bioprocessing equipment including hardware, software, consumables will be valued.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, including strong active listening skills.
  • Understands how the business operates and confident in working with diverse data to develop strategic recommendations.
  • Requires excellent organization, project management, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct financial analysis, develop financial models and interpret P&L statements as they relate to the product portfolio.
  • Ability to gain in depth technical understanding of product portfolio including the customer workflow, and quality and regulatory requirements.

Base Salary Range:

Culture Biosciences's compensation package includes market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, and great benefits. Our expected salary range for this role is $220,000 - $245,000. We are hiring for multiple levels and backgrounds so final offers may vary within the range provided based on experience, expertise, and other factors.

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy:Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles.  For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.

About the role:

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate on the 18+ month product roadmap that delivers continuous customer value and is responsive to hypotheses and data-driven iterations, based on user research, industry developments and market trend analysis.
  • Cultivate strong relationships across clients and stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, payers, and healthcare providers, in order to gain deep insights into their problems and motivations and become a trusted thought partner.

Ideally, you have expertise in navigating payer dynamics, healthcare reimbursement systems and discount programs such as 340B with a strong working knowledge of healthcare data sources and systems, including EHR and claims, among others.

As our Director of Product leading our Platform Team, you will be a key executive responsible for building the core capabilities and infrastructure to bring BetterUp - and the power of personal growth and transformation - to everyone. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Deep Technical Expertise. Your teams are building things like message queues, api gateways, identity service, event driven reporting, data catalogs, microservices and feature stores to power BetterUp’s products.
  • Horizontal Leadership. You will need to guide and influence an org to prospect and invest in these powerful but long term capabilities and growth levers. 
  • Systems Thinking. You will need to help stitch together the value story across a complex technical and product ecosystem. 

We expect our leaders to be experts in their domains, not just general managers. You will be able to zoom in to guide your teams through the most critical problems and zoom out to guide the organization towards our long term vision. 

You will deliver all of this through Platform teams based in both the US and Europe. 

As an organization we have the building blocks in place but are still early in our Platform journey - this is your opportunity to shape and accelerate that journey. 

What you’ll do:

  • You will lean into Horizontal Leadership to guide our organization - both Technical and Non-Technical - through the platform investments required to scale by an order of magnitude. 
  • You will manage,  grow and recruit world class talent and set the pace of the organization - both within and beyond your direct team. 
  • Along with our Platform Engineering leadership team you will shape our platform strategy & roadmap, quantify and frame our investments, and drive alignment across the organization. You will make high quality, high value decisions in the face of ambiguity.
  • You will define, monitor, measure, analyze and report on key metrics for your business.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management 
  • 5+ years of experience managing group and technical product managers
  • Experience in a technical/engineer role and comfortable discussing engineering systems in detail. 
  • Practical experience with data platforms, microservices and infrastructure.  
  • Proven track record of driving results via horizontal leadership. 
  • Systems thinker with an ability to digest highly complex, ambiguous dynamics into simple options and path forward. 
  • Inspiring people leader who can motivate and set a healthy pace for the team and isn't afraid to get into the details when they need to. 
  • Experience operating in a fast pace startup.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is $198,950 – $277,150.
