Job Description

Are you passionate about creating truly engaging and easy to use technical documentation? If so, we are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team. This person will focus on designing, developing and editing, publishing technical content.

This role requires someone who enjoys documenting and writing technical material in a user friendly way to make it easy for a user to understand how to use the platform with a strong understanding of each user persona, their needs, their technical expertise to design material for the user persona. This person will also be responsible for developing content that helps internal stakeholders better understand the feature -its use, its value and how customers will use this feature. 

This role is an individual contributor role.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Working with product managers, engineers, UX designers, and end users to determine what documentation and training materials we need to produce, and what users it should target
  • Writing and editing documentation and training materials, including tutorials, API reference docs, and developer's guides
  • Working effectively with subject matter experts to integrate technical and scientific information into documentation and training materials
  • Coordinating with subject matter experts and product team partners to deliver high-quality content on time, to spec, every time
  • Organizing the information architecture of our documentation and training materials to make all content easy for our users to find, understand, and leverage in their work
  • Standardizing style and terminology across all our documentation and training materials

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. or higher in technical writing, instructional design, biology, computer science, or other STEM field; or equivalent software technical writing experience.
  • 3-5+ years relevant work experience and a portfolio of writing samples
  • Strong technical understanding of platforms like AWS, Oracle, Snowflake, Teradata, Redshift, SQL Server, etc; comfortable working with Data platform terminology.
  • Ability to work well with technical and scientific subject matter experts, including engineers, product managers, software architects, bioinformaticians, lab scientists, designers, and compliance specialists in understanding and documenting scope and technical solutions
  • Experience writing user-facing technical API documentation; ability to understand and effectively describe and explain how to use complex products
  • Ability to structure written content thoughtfully with a view to maintenance and re-usability
  • Detail-oriented work style
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently - plan and execute own deliverables, timelines, in coordination with multiple parallel Product and Engineering tracks
  • Familiarity with version control documentation software, such as Gitbook
  • Familiar with screen recording and video production a plus

Collaboration and Enablement

  • Act as a bridge between the engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to ensure documentation aligns with product goals and developer needs.
  • Partner with the Training & Enablement team to create educational resources that complement documentation efforts.

Engagement

  • Gather feedback from the developer community and incorporate it into documentation improvements.
  • Represent Ververica in forums, webinars, and events to promote our documentation and educational initiatives.
  • May develop and deliver presentations on our products and services.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in technical writing, technical communication, or a related field
  • 5+ years working in a software development environment.
  • 5+ years developing technical product documentation.
  • Proven experience in technical writing, developer education, or a similar role in a software-focused organization.
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Strong understanding of stream processing concepts and technologies, particularly Apache Flink®.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing applications with Apache Flink and related technologies.
  • Development experience using  Java, C#, C++, Go, Python programming languages.
  • Experience with structured authoring and C/CMS systems is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with structured writing, and code-based authoring tools like Docusaurus, Github, and Markdown

About the Role - 

The Instacart Platform is a retail enablement platform with solutions for online and in-store commerce. We are looking for a senior technical writer to work with our enterprise teams to document our white-label e-commerce capabilities, such as online shopping, checkout, fulfillment, and order status management. About the Team - 

You’ll work directly with our Product Engineering, Product Management, and retailer-facing teams to understand our products, market, and audience, and then create a positive, engaging learning experience for partners that will ultimately drive adoption and ubiquity of our products. You will be responsible for creating external product documentation. Deliverables will include concepts, release notes, FAQs, product tutorials, API documentation, and more.

 

 

About the Job 

Work with internal teams (primarily Product and Engineering) to understand Instacart solutions, use cases, and documentation requirements for partners 

  • Produce high-quality external product documentation that is tailored to our target audience
  • Develop documentation/content plans and socialize with key stakeholders

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment

Overview

As a Technical Writer on the Product Support team, you will be responsible for ensuring an accurate and comprehensive library of Recharge knowledge. This includes maintaining our external Help Center and internal Knowledge Base, as well as creating net-new content as new features are created. The Basics:

What you’ll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $275,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.

What you will do

  • Review and edit documentation written by other team members for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.

The experience you will bring

  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing or technical communications roles, with some process management experience
  • Experience of creating high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, flow charts, videos, and release notes
  • Experience with version control management, including creating and implementing new process
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
