About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join our team to support a range of critical platform upgrades and migrations. The successful candidate will work closely with development teams to create comprehensive test plans, implement testing strategies, and support third-party penetration testing activities. This role involves ensuring the delivery of secure, robust, and high-performing solutions within a CI/CD environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed test plans covering functional, regression, and performance testing.
  • Execute tests to validate application functionality, scalability, and security.
  • Conduct regression testing for new and existing features to ensure system stability.
  • Perform performance testing to evaluate system scalability and resilience under load.
  • Collaborate with third-party penetration testing teams to prepare systems for assessment.
  • Validate and document outcomes of penetration testing to ensure security standards are met.
  • Build and execute automated tests integrated into GitHub workflows to support continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Align testing strategies with Terraform-based deployments for seamless CI/CD practices.
  • Test containerised solutions deployed on AWS ECS and ensure full regression testing of Terraform-managed infrastructure.
  • Validate database migration pipelines using GitHub CI/CD workflows.
  • Work closely with developers, platform SMEs, and other stakeholders to ensure quality assurance at every stage.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all test processes and results.

Key Deliverables:

Functional and non-functional test results for infrastructure and application changes, including:

  • Migration of EC2-based applications to AWS ECS-based solutions.
  • Replacement of EC2 nodes with TypeScript Lambdas and AWS Batch.
  • Decommissioning of legacy resources (EC2, Jenkins, Puppet, Terraform) post-testing.
  • Validation of containerised and CI/CD pipeline deployments.
  • Supporting PHP refactoring to facilitate containerisation.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience in testing platforms utilising Docker and AWS ECS/ECR.
  • Proficiency in creating and executing regression and performance testing.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD workflows, particularly GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and testing, including support for penetration testing.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of cloud environments and AWS services, such as S3, IAM roles, CloudWatch, and RDS.

Qualifications

  • Next to a degree in computer science or another technical discipline, you have at least 5 years of experience in two or more of the following areas: software development, automation and containers, design & implementation of distributed cloud applications, agile methodologies
  • You have 2+ years of working experience with a hyperscaler AWS cloud platform (nice to have Azure or GCP knowledge), for example Amazon EC2 compute, AWS Lambda, AWS EventBridge, AWS CloudWatch, Amazon RDS, Amazon ECS
  • Extensive experience in DevOps methodologies, Programming and Automation with Shell Scripting, Docker, Terraform, Ansible. Linux system Administration, Bash scripting.
  • You are experienced with complex, large scale environments and able to design a resilient, secured, and performant cloud infrastructure solution
  • Demonstrated experience developing an enterprise-scale distributed applications using modern software development practices and technologies is highly desired

What You'll Do

We are looking for a strong candidate to join our team as part of the Finance & Business Operations Organization. As a key team member of a high-visibility organization, this role will provide both technical and operational support to Cloudflare’s Global Commissions Tooling & Strategy. The Opportunity:

We, at Flywire, are looking for an experienced engineer to join as the Site Reliability Engineering team in North America to help drive reliability, automation and performance in our cloud-based infrastructure.

At Flywire the SRE team is responsible for the lifecycle of production systems and working across multiple levels. SRE’s are embedded in the development teams enabling and empowering them to achieve full speed on shipping reliable and operable systems. They also work at a global scale driving initiatives to achieve production excellence.

  • Design, build and maintain core infrastructure pieces with a focus on availability, latency, performance, and capacity. Reduce toil and improve deployment timelines (40%)
  • Be embedded on a development team, support them with daily tasks, help drive towards production excellence and advocate for best practices. (40%)
  • Be part of an on-call rotation. Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack and practice incident response and blameless postmortems. (15%)
  • Engage and collaborate with other disciplines in the design, deployment, operation, and optimization of services. (5%)

Qualifications

Here’s What We’re Look For:

  • 5+ years of experience as an SRE or similar role. Experience as a Software Engineer or Systems Engineer is also valuable.
  • We are aiming to build a multidisciplinary and balanced team based on "t-shaped" individuals. As such we are looking for people comfortable with the idea of being or becoming a generalizing specialist.
  • Software engineering is an important part of our work, we actively use and support many different platforms and languages. Experience with at least one programming language is needed, also experience with testing techniques such TDD or BDD will be highly valued.
  • Being familiar with the container ecosystem, cloud infrastructure, build systems and CI/CD tools is key for being successful at this role.
  • You will need to be comfortable taking ownership of complex systems challenges and help uncover opportunities for improvement.
