About the Job

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Full-Stack Engineer (m/f/d) to join one of our portfolio companies and help build and scale its technical foundation. In your day-to-day work, you’ll focus on designing and developing a secure, reliable, and scalable platform while contributing to key architectural decisions and delivering impactful solutions.

Join our portfolio company: A German Climate Tech startup focused on simplifying connectivity in the EV charging industry. The company provides an affordable, scalable platform to make electric vehicle charging seamless and reliable, fueling the green mobility revolution across Europe.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design and implement scalable system architectures for high-performance applications.
  • Develop and optimize backend systems using Kotlin or another JVM language, with opportunities to explore Go or Rust.
  • Build and maintain intuitive frontend solutions using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Provide technical leadership by driving best practices, mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of collaboration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with product goals and business needs.
  • Scale and improve infrastructure with tools like AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker for reliability and performance.

Your Profile

  • You have experience as a Full-Stack Engineer with strong backend development skills, such as Kotlin, Java, or another JVM language.
  • Proficiency in frontend development with frameworks like React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with an interest in improving and maintaining a scalable, well-structured frontend system.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure tools and cloud platforms like AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • A pragmatic, entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership to deliver impactful solutions in an early-stage startup environment.
  • You know how to navigate a remote-first setup, fostering effective collaboration through clear and proactive communication while sharing knowledge to support team success.
  • Experience in fintech, energy, or other infrastructure-heavy industries is a plus.

About the Job

We’re looking for an experienced System Architect (m/f/d) to join one of our portfolio companies and define system solutions for data centres.

In your day-to-day work, you’ll be using our venture’s innovative technology to create state of the art machine learning/artificial intelligence or massive scale-out interconnect platforms and get the opportunity to contribute to various projects.

Join our portfolio company: A German hardware company focused on designing and manufacturing cutting-edge microchips. The transformative startup offers energy-efficient and high-performance components for multiple industries.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design and develop electrical and photonic architecture for data centre and high performance computing equipment
  • Determine and communicate design approaches and parameters
  • Drive system architecture definition for assigned program, and ensure consistency/compatibility across programs
  • Provide technical leadership of System Design projects, attending meetings, providing  cross-functional information, and driving solutions
  • Perform feature and cost trade-off analysis
  • Partition design tasks and lead electrical team in implementation and validation on program
  • Drive appropriate simulation and ECAD
  • Work with engineering managers and design engineers to assist in the creation of the development plan for programs, including schedule, risks and resources
  • Analyse test plan requirements to perform verification and validation
  • Oversee experimental tests and evaluate results. Select components based on analysis of specifications, cost, continuity of supply, and reliability
  • Ensure that designs integrate with rest of product functions including mechanical and Software
  • Create and maintain required documentation including specifications
  • Ensure the manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of designs

Your Profile

  • Experience in semiconductor product early concept, development through production launch
  • Experience with different types of thermal management, including rack-level cooling, passive heat sinks, and cold plates
  • Understanding of chip to chip communication and communication interfaces (UCle, AXI, CXL, BoW, HBM)
  • Understanding of silicon photonics, ideally knowledge of optics
  • A solid understanding of analog and digital design and extended high-speed substrate layout design
  • Strong infrastructure experience, preferably data centre
  • Fluency in English 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 15+ years of related experience, or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 12+ years of related experience

Please note that we are looking for support in the Aachenoffice of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
