Job Description

As a Senior Support Analyst, you are responsible for providing 24/7 monitoring and support for all ATPCO platforms and applications. This position is within the Technology Platforms Services team who manages the foundational platforms that our product teams consume to build, deploy and host scalable and reliable products and services. The platforms consist of our Private and Public cloud offerings while also offering 24/7 operations monitoring and support to maximize uptime for ATPCO products.  

You will: 

  • Monitor all ATPCO environments, applications, platforms, and infrastructures, via consoles and other tools 

  • Monitor all processes and scheduled jobs for both Mainframe and Distributed Systems environments like subscriptions and batch jobs and ensure that they are successfully completed 

  • Manage incoming emails, phone calls, and ServiceNow tickets 

  • Manage severity 1 and 2 incidents and outages, from initial troubleshooting, vendor engagement, outage communication and escalation, and call bridge management 

  • Work with internal teams, external service providers, and vendors to ensure that service interruptions and issues are solved 

  • Manage incidents and provide back-up to the shift leader 

  • Provide timely support for ad-hoc requests such special processing requests (SPR), file transmissions, AFT/FTP re-transmissions and other customer requests 

  • Prepare accurate and up-to-date turnover logs, documentation and reports regarding all NOC activities during the shift 

  • Ensure timely execution of requests to remove, stop, start, or bounce any applications, servers, services, databases or any other components of ATPCO IT enterprise 

  • Create documentation for the NOC to help maintain the Platform Support Services Knowledge database 

The Ideal Candidate: 

  • Prior experience working in a NOC or 24/7 support environment 

  • Prior experience providing enterprise-wide support, including OpenShift, private/public cloud and on-premise, mainframe and web-based systems support 

  • Expertise in Linux shell commands, batch processing, job scheduling tools, and parsing logs for root cause analysis 

  • Experience using ServiceNow or other ticketing applications 

  • Familiarity with AWS monitoring tools (Amazon CloudWatch as well as other monitoring tools like Dynatrace, SolarWinds, Splunk, Grafana)  

  • Familiarity with BMC Mainframe tools like MainView, CICS, IBM Job Control Language (JCL), TSO/ISPF/SDSF, IBM Mainframe NetView Access Services (NVAS)

About the Team

In this role, you will be focused on the build out and expansion of our global infrastructure. You'll work closely with Cloudflare’s SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team, Network Engineering team, Infrastructure Engineering team, Project Managers and with various vendors and partners (including hardware vendors, logistics, datacenter and network providers, and ISPs). You will further be responsible for the development and implementation of consistent processes and visibility measurements for consistent and effective management of our infrastructure. This is a highly visible position that requires deep technical understanding of datacenter infrastructure, physical and logical networking, linux, and basic experience with data analysis and project management.

To be successful in this position, you should have excellent technical skills, communication skills, and be able to navigate a range of challenges and constraints (e.g. schedule adherence, time zones, and cultures). You will have the opportunity to (literally) build a faster, safer Internet for our millions of users and the billions of web surfers that visit their sites each month.

Other Responsibilities May Include

  • Provisioning, monitoring and maintaining hardware, software, and network in new Cloudflare data centers.
  • Creating documentation and managing remote contractors to complete datacenter installations and upgrades (rack and stack), including hardware manufacturers, datacenter and network providers, logistics partners and other service providers in support of our 275+ growing datacenter locations
  • Aggressively seek opportunities to introduce cutting-edge technology and automation solutions that are effective, efficient and scalable in order to improve our ability to deploy and maintain our global infrastructure.
  • Planning and implementing network and server installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout and cable management.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation, plans, SOP’s, MOP’s etc.
  • Collaborating with internal teams (infrastructure engineering, network engineering and SRE) for day to day activities. 
  • Coordinating installation of cross-connects globally in support of physical network expansion.
  • Assisting with the definition, documentation and implementation of consistent processes across all regions.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience in Data Center Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, Linux systems administration, Network Engineering, and/or DevOps experience
  • Familiarity with day-to-day tasks and projects common in Data Center Operations.
  • Experience with optical transport technologies such as CWDM/DWDM
  • Configuration management tool experience like Saltstack, Chef, Puppet or Ansible
  • Network hardware administration.
  • Knowledge and exposure to Network Protocols, Topologies and Enterprise architecture. 
  • Experience writing network configuration and design documentation.
  • Experience solving problems through automation.
  • Ability to write scripts for internal tools.
  • Experience running and improving operational processes in a rapidly changing environment.

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, technical background in engineering, computer science, or MIS a plus.
  • Direct experience executing on datacenter / infrastructure projects with many moving parts.
  • Previous experience installing / maintaining datacenter (and other IT) infrastructure and DCIM tools.
  • Experience running and improving operational processes in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong understanding of BGP and anycast routing
  • Professional level network certification(s) (JNCIP, CCNP, etc) or higher
  • Good working knowledge of Juniper Junos, Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS and Arista EOS
  • Load balancing and reverse proxies such as Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy, Apache
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages and willing to learn new ones when required

What you will do:

  • Lead incident response efforts, such as responding to identified malicious activity or highly critical vulnerabilities that pose a threat to the organization.
  • Onboard data, configure integrations, and setup security alerting for the security information and event management (SIEM) solution, which includes parsing and analyzing large, complex data sets and integrating into the security case management system.
  • Leverage knowledge in multiple security disciplines, such as Windows, Unix, Linux, data loss prevention (DLP), endpoint controls, databases, wireless security, and data networking, to offer global solutions for a complex heterogeneous environment.
  • Responsible for the continuous maturity of monitoring and incident response capabilities.
  • Stay current with, and remain knowledgeable, about new threats. Analyze attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) from security events across a large heterogeneous network of security devices and end-user systems.
  • Conduct cyber investigations including suspicious files analysis across applications, networks, and endpoints, including memory and disk forensics, to determine maliciousness. Analysis requires knowledge of traditional malware, but also repurposed files that are not malicious, as well as targeted malware and zero-day attacks.
  • Acts as primary security resource for strategic initiatives by providing security reviews and mitigation recommendations that address concerns going forward.
  • Provides leadership for cyber team including setting standards, identifying emerging threats, mentoring team on how to mitigate risks, and collaborating with business and IT resources.
  • Promotes strategic comprehensive planning by identifying advocating for security solutions or practices that substantially reduce the cyber risk of organization.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Client’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology. [Preferred]
  • Certification relevant information security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, or GIAC) or the ability to gain a certification within 6 months of hire. [Required]

Required Experience:

  • 8 years of cybersecurity work experience.
  • Experience using malware analysis, forensics solutions and utilities.
  • Experience in cyber investigations using formal chain-of-custody methods.

Essential:

The essence of the role

As our new ROLE you will:

  • Run the production, UAT environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and services.
  • Install, configure, update, patch and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and give feedback on application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with engineering to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Manage backup/configurations/security and system patching
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 2nd level support
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux based environments.
  • Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, NGINX)
  • Solid experience in the database administration e.g. (Mysql , MongoDB , Redis )
  • Experience with monitoring systems / Nagios etc.
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl )
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and isolate OS/network related issues
  • Telecom Knowledge voice / sms / email (add on)

Who are you?
In order to contribute in this role you have:

  • Engineering Degree/ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline
  • Hands-on 2-4 years’ experience in Linux OS.
  • Basic working knowledge of AWS Cloud etc.
  • Basic working knowledge of CI - CD , GIT / Jenkins / Ansible / Docker
  • Understanding of DevSecOps
  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
  • Certification preferred
  • Basic knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel etc.)
  • should be comfortable with 24/7 work culture .
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Should be able to work independently with firm deadlines, and influence cross-functional teams. Decision making ability and attention to detail.
