The Access Control team at Webflow is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is experienced with scaling distributed systems and values building secure software that also has a great user experience. The Access Control team is responsible for building and maintaining the Roles & Permissions framework used by all of Engineering to make sure the right users have access to the right resources throughout the webflow.com application. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll: 

• Architect, design, and implement scalable multi-tenant backend services and APIs.
• Work on technologies such as Node.js, Javascript/Typescript, MongoDB, GraphQL, Apollo, Amazon Web Services EC2, S3, Lambdas, Kafka, and more.
• Demonstrable solid experience and deep expertise in multiple technical domains.
• Contribute to building and executing on functional strategy.
• Lead projects that directly contribute to team and engineering organization's deliverables.
• Produce and elevate the quality of maintainable, tested, performant, and scalable code.
• Author, collaborate on, and evaluate design documents.

• Mentor junior engineering in technical skills and Webflow culture.

About you 

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Have 5+ years developing and deploying web applications, with a proven track record of shipping code.

Your Mission:

• Design and develop scalable and secure payment systems to handle financial transactions securely and efficiently in a multi-tenant Cloud/SaaS environment
• Design, implement and test in-store payment and payment device interactions including credit/debit, gift cards, digital wallets, and more
• Work closely with Product Management to understand the business needs and find appropriate technical solutions
• Contribute to the definition of the team roadmap
• Ensure that functional and non-functional requirements (performance, security) are met
• Work with engineers from different teams to ensure technical excellence of the whole platform

What you need to succeed:

• 3+ years of experience as a Backend developing server-side systems
• Experience with Typescript or Javascript
