SENIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER (Hybrid Position. Must be in office Tuesday-Thursday)
The Senior DevOps Engineer will be part of the team that is responsible for designing, developing, and operating the infrastructure and applications that make Throtle’s data onboarding solution work. The ideal candidate can work with teammates in troubleshooting problems, identifying resolutions, and assessing situations in real time. Our team is empowered to keep our fast-paced, high volume processing environment operational for our clients and partners.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintaining our existing automation, infrastructure and monitoring.
Be involved in real-time assessment of issues and help develop solutions
Create solutions to manage and monitor our infrastructure and operations.
Create and maintain alerts and monitoring to detect issues before they impact business operations
Build and design solutions that mitigate risk and increase efficiencies
Automate processes and sub-processes to enable greater scale and speed
Take part in performance & capacity monitoring and planning
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Have 3+ years as part of a DevOps team in a real time operational processing environment
Significant experience with Ansible or comparable configuration management software such as Puppet, Chef, etc.
Experience operating within AWS
Hands-on experience with firewall management and network security
Experience as a Linux SysAdmin
Working knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, ICMP, SSH, LDAP, DNS
Have proficiency in multiple coding/scripting languages such as Python, Bash, SQL.
Ability to identify problems, and effectively communicate solutions to peers and management
OTHER VALUABLE SKILLS
Experience with data flow and queue management using tools like Kafka and Flume
Experience with Prometheus or other cloud-native monitoring solutions
Experience with the ELK stack
Working knowledge of storage systems and formats
Experience with a RDBMS – PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.
Exposure to NoSQL/Big Data: Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB

In this role, you will be part of the team that is responsible for transforming and maintaining billions of records that make Throtle’s data onboarding solution work. You’ll need to be able to evaluate incoming data, perform specialized transformations, and standardize it for consumption by multiple processes. You’ll be working environment where quality and attention to the details are paramount.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, build and maintain ETL code that transforms data into various formats for storage and workflow/pipeline processing
Participate in data modeling
Assist in fine-tuning search queries and designing tables, views, indexes
Proactively monitor database systems ensuring availability and performance
Work with application developers in designing/implementing data workflows/pipelines
Solid problem-solving skills for data analysis & reporting
Participate in the testing process through unit testing and bug fixes
QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 years in a working environment utilizing RDBMS such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle
Experience in building and maintaining data transformations (ETL) using SQL or scripting/programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java
Experience with large data sets – regularly transforming and querying tables or sets of 100 million records
Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and performance-tune SQL
Hands-on with database performance, security and integrity
Experience in database design, development and data modeling
Ability to identify problems, and effectively communicate solutions to peers and management
ADDED VALUABLE SKILLS
Experience with programming languages – Python, Java, Scala, GO
Exposure to AWS services such as Athena, Glue, S3, Lambda, Data Pipeline
Data architecture
Database security
Knowledge on Spark Framework
Knowledge on data visualization tools like AWS QuickSight / Tableau
NoSQL: HBase, AWS Dynamo, Cassandra, MongoDB

Throtle is hiring a Remote Application Development Manager
Application Development Manager-Red Bank, NJ (Hybrid position. In office Tuesday-Thursday)
Job Summary:
The Application Development Manager will be responsible for delivering Throtle’s suite of internal and external facing applications. From technical design to performance monitoring, you’ll own it all. Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll be working with Throtle’s client care and product teams to define requirements and identify areas for improvement. In addition, you’ll be providing guidance, mentoring, and defining the professional development of your team. This position is Hybrid. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the Office. Monday and Friday are remote.
Duties/Responsibilities
Manage the design and performance of client-facing and internal applications.
Lead a team of front-end, back-end, and database developers.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Estimate the resources needed to achieve project goals.
Plan sprints and communicate releases and milestones to the stakeholders.
Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise team members.
Work with other team members and management to continuously improve processes, performance, and the work environment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
Strong technical background with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life cycle.
Education and Experience:
3+ years’ direct work experience in a management or lead capacity role, including all aspects of development and execution.
Experience with multiple programming frameworks – including Java, JavaScript, Agular.js, and React.js.
Experience with Agile / Scrum development framework.
Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
Exposure or experience with AWS
Exposure to NoSQL data stores.
Exposure to big data processing.
Programming experience in Scala, GO, or Java.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
