EGS is hiring a Remote Senior Data Base Expert - Postgres / Oracle
Job Description
As a Senior Data Base Expert you will work closely together with other people in a team focused on software development in context of our application’s data base, i. e. having functional and technical requirements as an input for the team, an extensive application as context and the task to provide tested deliverables accordingly. Beyond that, you and the team will also support people from other teams, e. g. working in client projects or operation services. In this the role, you will work on
Qualifications
- Tuning of SQL-queries (including root cause analysis)
- PL/SQL-design and development of the DB maintenance tool set used by the WLP FO application (statistics gathering, incremental deployments, lifecycle management of transactional mass data, Streams replication, etc)
- Installation automation topics – legacy and cloud
- Shell scripting
- DDL migration scripts for WLP FO
- DB administration
- Evaluating new releases of the database
- Performance testing
- Evaluation of new features (Postgres, Oracle and others)
- Evaluation of and willingness to go for new database providers
- Knowledge transfer to other team members in own area of expertise
Skills we can’t do without:
- At least 10 years of experience as a database developer or database administrator in online transaction processing
- At least 5 years of experience with Postgres database or Oracle database – experience with both would be ideal. Participation in an Oracle to Postgres migration project would be beneficial.
- Know-how and experience of DB high availability concepts (Oracle Streams, RAC, Dataguard and others or similar solutions for Postgres)
- to enable design and implementation of easy-to-use installation scripts
- to improve performance and high availability
- Business fluency in English language
Skills we´d like:
- Knowledge of payment services in Acceptance/Acquiring and/or Issuing domains
- Broad technical background in IT, software development technologies (agile, scrum, cloud, docker, GIT, JIRA etc.)
- Experience in operation of transaction processing systems
- Ability to work in dynamic situations, short timelines and with strict deadlines
- Pro-activity and self-reliance
- Open and inquiring minded
- Team player, ability to work in an international environment and with matrix organization
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
