Hims and Hers is seeking a highly motivated, talented, and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Web Storefront team. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, design, marketing, and analytics, to deliver high-impact features that enhance the user experience on our web storefront. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the features of our e-commerce platforms, ensuring a seamless user experience across hims.com and forhers.com. This role is pivotal to scaling our web storefront team and delivering a high-quality e-commerce experience for our customers.

You Will:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of new features for our web storefront.
  • Implement scalable and performant front-end and back-end solutions.
  • Coach, mentor, and set best practices for architecture, coding, delivery, and operation within your pod.
  • Collaborate with other engineering pods and teams to develop reusable, scalable designs, write and collaborate in RFCs, and build architecture diagrams that benefit the entire organization.
  • Partner with key stakeholders in product, design, infrastructure, marketing, and project management, guiding decisions based on your knowledge of the codebase.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision for the storefront pods as a technical leader, identifying new technologies that improve security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with backend and quality engineers to spec, write, test, and deploy code that powers hims.com and forhers.com.
  • Actively participate in sprint ceremonies to help drive continuous improvement in our process and culture.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in an e-commerce or growth-focused engineering environment.
  • A strong understanding of modern web technologies (React, GraphQL, Javascript, Typescript, HTML5, CSS3).
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms and understanding of e-commerce best practices.
  • Strong understanding of CSS, design principles, and component library creation.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.

What You Will Do

You will work on Lattice Payroll, which allows organizations to build a pay-for-performance culture from strategic compensation decisions to employees' pay slips.

  • You’ll be responsible for building software to help companies create cultures in which their employees thrive.
  • Partner with other engineers to build and own products across a modern tech stack. Our current stack includes React, Relay Modern, GraphQL, Node, and PostgreSQL. We rely on AWS to host our infrastructure.
  • Work closely with other product teams to understand and solve overarching pain points.
  • Own the execution of complex projects, including those that require cross-functional collaboration with product managers and designers.
  • Provide substantial mentorship to less experienced colleagues, helping to refine their technical craft and expand their knowledge.
  • Make contributions to our engineering practices, identifying and evangelizing improvements to improve our team output.

What You Will Bring to the Table

You have 5+ years of professional experience writing and maintaining production-level applications.

  • You have experience working with modern programming languages such as JavaScript, Ruby, Python, etc.
  • Experience working on and maintaining services for an organization operating at scale
  • You have experience building systems that are adopted by the wider engineering org.
  • You’re no stranger to SQL—you know how to efficiently model data and write performant queries in a relational database like PostgreSQL.
  • You know the ins and outs of maintaining and scaling an application actively serving customers in production.
  • You seek out the root cause when debugging software defects, and champion improvements that prevent future issues. You are familiar with operations tasks such as monitoring application performance over time or troubleshooting issues with production applications.
