What you will be doing

We are looking for a JavaScript Developer to join our international team to produce scalable software solutions. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. you will be collaborating with the rest of the engineering team to participate in the architecture, design, development, launching, and maintenance of our web applications.

To get the most out of this role you should be proactive and keen to get involved. You must be a strong team player with a can-do approach, who can work under minimal supervision. You must also have a great passion for learning and be able to communicate with your colleagues in both Spanish and English.

Some of your responsibilities will be:

  • Build isomorphic applications using full-stack Javascript technologies
  • Work closely with product owners, architects, UX engineers to deliver complex and high-quality customer facing software applications
  • Follow modern development practices
  • Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features
  • Manage build pipelines

  • Experience with isomorphic applications (SSR, SPA).
  • Experience with unit testing libraries/frameworks (Jest, Mocka), RESTful web services, and Visual TDD (Storybook).
  • Familiar with MongoDB.
  • Delivered well-written, testable, and efficient code.
  • Comfortable working remotely
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of:

    As an Enterprise Solutions Architect Team member you will be asked to work with a variety of accounts where you must lead very skilled engineering staff of our customers. You will work with our product engineering teams to ensure any functional gaps and opportunities for improvement are clearly articulated and managed between our accounts and our engineering team. Our joint team of highly experienced ESAs are periodically found solutioning in C#, Java, SQL, NodeJS, JavaScript, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform and many more.     The Enterprise Solution Architect is a combination of an infrastructure, automation expert, coder, trusted advisor and cloud services authority who will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of our monitoring solutions executed through a well-defined, repeatable services engagement model. Our ESA team members perform most of their responsibilities remotely at a home office and will have moderate to minimal travel from time to time.
     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree required or additional 10 years of relevant Information Technology experience accepted in lieu of degree
    • 12+ years of real world experience in software and/or solution engineering
    • 5+ years experience leading and consulting in large Enterprise/Corporate environments a must

    Preferred Requirements

    • Prior Experience using Dynatrace or managing APM solutions a major plus
    • Solid understanding of a variety of Cloud technologies and offerings such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud with at least expertise and/or certification in one while having an aptitude and appetite to learn others quickly.
    • Solid understanding of network topologies, routing, network security, security protocols, routing, load balancers and capacity planning
    • Solid understanding of a Container based solutions using Kubernetes and similar products. Service mesh experience a plus.
    • Outstanding communicator and writing skills a must with the ability to consult and lead multi-day meetings to assess technologies and processes.
    • Solid understanding of Application and/or Infrastructure Monitoring & Observability
    • Develop automation and repeatable processes/scripts to enable solutions that deploy, manage, configure, scale and monitor Client applications is a plus

    Compensation and rewards:

    • The base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $205,000. When determining your salary, we consider your experience, skills, education, and work location.

    • Strong knowledge of MongoDB and relational databases using SQL.

    Verisk is seeking an individual to lead a team of DevOps engineers and help adhere to best practices in the cloud. In this role, your expertise will be pivotal in driving our DevOps culture, ensuring collaboration between development and operations teams, improving delivery cadence, and enhancing our overall system performance.

    The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

    • Leading a team of DevOps engineers, creating a culture of collaboration and automation
    • Assisting in the development of detailed project specifications and implementation plans
    • Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery process
    • Developing infrastructure as code modules to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices
    • Designing highly available and cost-effective architectures
    • Creating an observability and alerting strategy to keep systems stable and running
    • Providing off-hour support when needed to troubleshoot problems with mission-critical applications and take actions resulting from root cause analysis
    • Maintaining security best practices and acting quickly to remediate vulnerabilities
    • Engaging with multiple business units to prototype new ideas and new technologies and help create solutions to drive the next wave of innovation.
    • Recommending solutions that align with the business needs and requirements 
    • Providing configuration recommendations and assistance 
    • Contributing to the central cloud architecture team to benefit Verisk as a whole 

    Qualifikationen

    • Experience with building large-scale enterprise architecture solutions, including security concerns, high availability methods, multiple platforms, hardware considerations, network design, monitoring solutions, virtualization, performance, capacity planning, and information management practices
    • Proven track record of technical guidance and team mentorship
    • Expertise with AWS and cloud architecture - Amazon Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect, Associate or higher is a plus 
    • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, New Relic, etc.
    • Experience with containers and orchestration tools such as docker and Kubernetes
    • Knowledge of development methodologies and proficiency with scripting languages such as python
    • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools and methodologies such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform
    • Experience with CI/CD and configuration management tools and technologies, including Azure DevOps, Jenkins etc. 
    • Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving and passion for continuous improvement
    • Experience with agile processes (Kanban / Scrum) including familiarity with JIRA
