What you’ll do:

  • Assess incoming requirements to determine necessary changes on the C# (web service) or SQL (database operation) side.
  • Collaborate directly with customers, troubleshoot data-related issues, and ensure accurate data delivery and reporting.
  • Analyze database tables, optimize indexing, and ensure efficient data handling for large data pools.
  • Support and troubleshoot web service endpoints for performance and efficiency, ensuring seamless back-end operations.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

  • Oracle PL/SQL Expertise: Advanced ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize database structures; Oracle skills are essential for this role.
  • ASP.NET Core & C# Proficiency: Experience with ASP.NET Core for backend web service development, with C# for related services.
  • IIS Server Management: Competency in deploying and maintaining applications on IIS servers.
  • DevOps Familiarity: Working knowledge of Jenkins and Octopus for deployment pipelines.
  • Scripting Skills: Experience with PowerShell or equivalent languages for scripting and automation.
  • Strong Debugging and Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to analyze data issues, work through complex backend procedures, and independently identify and resolve inconsistencies.

Must be responsible for successful technical delivery and support of Data Warehousing, Data Migration and Transformation, and Business Intelligence projects using an Agile project management methodology. The duties of this role will include all aspects of data processing, storage, and ingestion, as well as data analysis and visualization of relative multi-program data. 

Qualifications

Responsibilities:  

ETL/Data Warehouse: 

  • Create, maintain, and reverse engineer the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) procedures for the Data Warehouse (DW) environment using the Informatica PowerCenter suite. 
  • Perform analysis of RDBMS tables and PowerCenter objects to answer questions pertaining to the data warehouse and the data transformations. 
  • Create and maintain scripts and files that perform various functions on the Informatica integration servers.  Use Putty or other Unix text editor to maintain Linux environment.  
  • Maintain data model documentation (ERwin) if changes to the ETL require database changes, and develop, test, and deploy associated DDL.  
  • Manage releases of changes to ETL, scripts, DDL, and scheduling components from Development to Test to Production.   
  • Provide support for the Test, Certification, and Production DW environments.  
  • Maintain Consolidated Data Model (CDM).  
  • Any knowledge of Informatica Cloud Integration Services a plus 
  • Provide ongoing development and maintenance of financial data marts and enterprise data warehouse using BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data, structured query language skills, data warehouse and reporting techniques.  
  • Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved delivery of data supporting agency financial operations and mission.   
  • Convert business requirements and high-level data collection needs into well-specified ETL, analyses, reporting and visualizations.  
  • Define and log work using JIRA.  
  • Participate in recurring team meetings (Agile). 

Education & Qualifications Required:   

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or commensurate experience in a related field.   
  • 5 + years of experience using Informatica PowerCenter at development level (creating mappings, workflows, etc). 
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in ETL development support and maintenance. 
  • Strong SQL (Oracle) abilities. 
  • Proficiency in shell scripting 
  • ETL environment where Salesforce a source a plus 
  • ETL environment where Control-M used a plus 
  • 2+ years of Informatica PowerCenter administration.  If in a Linux environment a plus.

About the Team -

The Tax Team at Instacart is instrumental in optimizing the company's tax strategy by reducing overall tax expenses through effective planning, while ensuring compliance with all Corporate Income Tax and Sales and Use Tax regulations. The team is comprised of specialized units: Tax Technology, Indirect Tax, Direct Tax, and Tax Project Management Office (PMO). Together, they collaborate extensively with departments such as Finance, Legal, Policy, Product, Engineering, and Business Development to ensure a robust and comprehensive approach to tax planning and compliance.

The Tax Technology Team enhances these efforts by developing and implementing sophisticated solutions for data integration, transformation, process efficiency, and analytics, playing a vital role in mitigating tax liability and compliance risks. By providing advanced data access and analytical tools, they empower the Tax Department to focus on high-level technical tax challenges.

 

About the Job 

  • Responsible for assisting the tax team with a variety of data, system, and process automation requests with a focus on data for tax compliance and controversy. 
  • Responsible for establishing and ensuring data quality and consistency with our internal partners through reconciliation processes and procedures
  • Responsible for identifying and championing use cases for streamlining compliance and audit processes in an effort to increase efficiencies
  • Responsible for assisting with process automation across the tax function using Alteryx, RPA, and other relevant tools
  • Responsible for the development, support, and execution of end-to-end projects including configurations, documentation, and testing
  • Responsible for tracking project due dates and deadlines

About the Team

This role reports to the Director of Financial Accounting within the CAO organization. As part of a dynamic and growing finance organization, the Senior Accountant of Consolidations & Reporting will play a key role in the company’s global consolidation process, internal financial reporting and chart of accounts management. We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically strong accounting professional with expertise in consolidations, intercompany accounting, internal reporting and chart of accounts management to support the accurate and timely preparation of consolidated financial statements and provide critical insights to senior leadership.

 

About the Job

  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements for the organization, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Supervise the reconciliation of intercompany balances, eliminations and adjustments as part of the consolidation process
  • Prepare, review and distribute internal financial reports, including management reports and detailed analysis of consolidated financial results to support decision-making by senior leadership
  • Maintain and manage the company’s chart of accounts structure to ensure alignment with business needs and accounting standards, facilitating accurate and efficient consolidation and reporting processes
  • Review and record monthly consolidation entries, including the elimination of intercompany transactions, ensuring proper treatment of acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including supporting schedules, disclosures and management reports
  • Continuously identify opportunities to streamline and improve the efficiency of the consolidation process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits, ensuring proper accounting for consolidation and reporting
  • Partner with tax, treasury, strategic finance and other departments to ensure accurate data flow and proper alignment of financial information in internal reports and the consolidation process
  • Contribute to the development and updates of accounting policies and procedures related to consolidations, chart of accounts management and internal reporting to ensure compliance with evolving accounting standards and business practices
  • Oversee the accounting for foreign currency transactions and translations, including the application of proper exchange rates and ensure accurate reporting of foreign subsidiaries and financial results in accordance with US GAAP

 

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on consolidations, intercompany accounting, internal financial reporting, foreign currency and chart of accounts management
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and specific experience in consolidation accounting, intercompany eliminations, financial statement preparation and internal reporting
  • Experience with multinational organizations, including managing global consolidation processes and reporting across diverse business units and regions
  • Strong technical skills in accounting, financial analysis and internal reporting processes
  • Experience with chart of accounts management, including maintaining consistency and integrity across the organization’s reporting structure
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Experience with financial statement audits and coordination with external auditors

He/she will assist with daily cash reporting, year-end financial reporting and assistance with the external audit process, recording business transactions through journal entries, monthly and annual close processes, and help with developing and maintaining documentation, as well as strong internal controls. Key Responsibilities

  • Recording business transactions through journal entries
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements related to the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement
  • Participate in the month-end close process by preparing and recording journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), determining and recording accruals, reviewing financial statement trends, and preparing account reconciliations
  • Perform P&L variance analysis and investigate differences
  • Assist in the preparation of the daily cash report. Perform cash variance analysis and investigate significant differences
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation (bank statements, invoices etc.) to support internal process and a quarterly review / annual audit
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s accounting policies and procedures
  • Partner with the business to provide real time and accurate reports to support company leadership
  • Participate in process development and continuous improvement projects
  • Perform ad hoc projects as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required
  • Minimum of 2 years accounting experience, required
  • Proficient to expert Microsoft Excel skills, required
  • Experience with large accounting software, such as Oracle Fusion
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Excellent analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong attention to data integrity, accuracy, precision, and data gathering skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to obtaining and delivering outstanding results
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggle multiple tasks and completing them in a timely manner
  • Ability to take initiative, identify issues, act independently, communicate, and present recommendations to senior management

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Flow Builder team you will use your expertise and passion for building scalable and extensible distributed systems to help enhance our message orchestration platform, enabling our customers to engage their subscribers through conversational messaging. As a technical leader you will set the bar for the maintainability and performance of our systems. Senior Backend Engineers at Postscript have a high impact on their team and on the wider engineering org through project leadership, technical expertise, and decision-making. As a Senior engineer you will guide your team in weighing technical constraints and business priorities to make the necessary trade-offs to deliver customer value. Our stack is currently React, Go, Python (Flask), within a mostly monolithic, AWS-managed architecture.

Your passion for building great products, especially in early-stage companies, will lead you to have a  significant impact on both our customers and business. In addition, you will have the opportunity to solve challenging problems and build out architecture and processes as we scale. 

This position is fully remote.

Primary duties

  • Architect and build highly available, extensible, and scalable platform primitives and REST APIs for external and internal customers
  • Take ownership and be creative with your solutions as you help deliver excellent products to our customers
  • Contribute to the health of the team through honest and direct feedback as we iterate and improve on our processes
  • Guide your team to make optimal technical and product design decisions
  • Identify and execute on points of scale in order to maximize throughput and efficiency
  • Mentor other engineers on best practices and growth opportunities
  • Be accountable for communicating transparently and proactively, defining scope, breaking down and estimating tasks, risk and change management

Requirements

  • A proven career as a software engineer developing backend applications and APIs, hands-on experience using Golang and Python. SaaS experience preferred
  • Experience with or exposure to migration off a monolithic architecture a plus
  • Familiarity with building, deploying, and maintaining applications on AWS services using Terraform
  • Expertise in NoSQL and SQL, and experience with database modeling (Postgres)
  • Experience building modular, flexible architectures (maximizing readability and extensibility)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience building great products (high growth, early stage tech preferred)
  • Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
