ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be responsible for developing and implementing our Design Automation expertise for the firm.  You will report to the Design Technology Manager and work with other key leaders across the firm to ensure strategies are in alignment with firm goals and expectations.  You will collaborate with internal and external clients to understand their needs and develop and implement a strategy to ensure Cannon Design is leading the industry in bringing the practice and our clients the best-in-class parametric, computational, automation focused design tools.
 
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Understand the range of design automation tools that exist across the AEC industry and have some level of expertise in these tools. These include computational and generative design tools but also various workflow automation tools.
  • Determine the best way to bring design automation tools to practice as well as leading the firm to standardize on a range of tools. Ensure quality assurance, process documentation, and define key performance indicators.
  • Build technical expertise across the firm in these tools and be responsible for continuing education around the same.
  • Determine new technologies as they pertain to design automation, computational and parametric design & machine learning for the AEC environment and build firm technical expertise around this approach.
  • Work with management to prioritize new business models.
  • Drive research and development into emerging technologies as they filter across the AEC industry
  • Be an internal and external thought leader on related topics.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree Interactive Media Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or related fields required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • A total of 6 years of related experience required which includes:
    • 4 years of experience with Grasshopper, Dynamo, Autodesk Forge platforms required.
    • 4 years of experience Python, C# preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the AEC industry.
  • Business acumen and ability to execute strategy.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collect, organize and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and lead a team.
 
The salary range for this position is $83,600 to $104,500 annually.  This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. The Opportunity:

Your Responsibilities:

PROPOSAL MARKETING

In this position, you will be responsible for assisting the Simplebid® Director of Sales in identifying new client opportunities, building and maintaining relationships, and enabling the greater sales team to exceed targets. Experience in construction and/or public agency procurement highly preferred, but not required.
 
Here's what you'll do:
  • Primary focus will be our Simplebid® JOC software platform. You will capitalize upon your existing network, FOS of CannonDesign’s client base, and numerous lead development strategies to build relationships with key clients and individuals.
  • Identify target clients through research and lead generation.
  • At FOS of CannonDesign, business development is a team sport. You will be expected to partner and collaborate with other leaders in the firm to advance new client relationships.
  • Responsible for personally identifying a specific amount of unique new sales opportunities. Your role is to enhance an opportunity pipeline that will support our sales targets. 
  • Assist research and intelligence gathering for potential opportunities to better position FOS of CannonDesign to close deals.

AREAS OF FOCUS
Transforming design excellence
  • You will be accountable for design excellence and the overall design quality across the region. HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • B.Arch from an NAAB-accredited architecture program required. M.Arch from an NAAB-accredited architecture program preferred.
  • Current Architectural Registration in the US and LEED AP preferred. 
  • A minimum of 20 years of related work experience in A/E/I industry and proven track record of ability to lead and inspire others.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team of creative architects, designers and other disciplines across multiple offices.
  • Proven design ability demonstrated through a design portfolio of significant built and unbuilt work.
  • Third party recognition of your work as a lead designer by local, regional, and national design awards programs and recognized design publications or digital platforms is required.

The salary range for this position is $213,750 to 237,500 annually.  This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. ABOUT THE ROLE

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As the Executive Director, Central Region, you will be responsible for the growth of the region and realizing the ambitions of the strategic framework. The key responsibility of the role is to develop and execute a regional growth plan with a target of a minimum of 10% year-over-year growth, while continually being a champion for design excellence. While you will focus on a specific geographic area, a key part of the role is collaborating with key individuals to build out complementary and distinct capabilities across the firm to further advance SFMO (Single-Firm, Multi-Office). This requires implementing the regional growth in context with a firm-wide blueprint for developing a network of highly integrated offices. Executive Director, Central Region, in concert with the AEI Executive Director of Operations, oversee the business practices, risk mitigation and quality execution of the work using a firm first, region second methodology. You will review contracting exceptions and grant exceptions using the firm’s and legal team guidance. You will be a champion for design, quality and a voice of sustainable strategies.
 
AREAS OF FOCUS
  • Regional Leadership: Responsible for sourcing, building and advancing a high-performing, diverse and inclusive senior leadership team including region, location / office-based talent. You will provide leadership, guidance, and support, holding leaders accountable to achieve firm wide goals and individual role responsibilities and expectations.
  • Strategic Leadership: Responsible for defining and executing a strategic regional growth plan. You will partner and engage with other firm, office, and market leadership to develop and implement a business plan which identifies key business strategies and entrepreneurial initiatives focused on the continued growth and impact of the region. 
  • Top Line Development: Partner with Office Practice Leaders, Market Leaders, and Business Line Leaders to identify growth market opportunities, key target clients and yearly Net Signed Fee targets that will grow the business volume of the region a minimum of 10% a year. Champion clients for life vs commodity work. 
  • Practice, Market, and Services Growth: Work with others to evaluate and take appropriate action to address the senior talent needs in the region. Focusing on building strong leadership teams capable of expanding our growth potential for our markets, practices, and business lines. Identify new potential markets, practices, and business lines for investment and development. Support research and development and encourage development of new ideas, services, and products to differentiate the firm and expand business potential. 
  • Lead with strong Business Practices: Partner with your Regional Practice Director to champion the best practices of project management, risk management, process improvement, project leadership and financial stewardship. Together with the Regional Practice Director be accountable for achieving or exceeding the profitability goals noted above for the firm first and the region second. 
  • Communication and Brand Ambassador: Represent the Firm externally at community-based events, conferences and broader events that continually support the overall brand and direction of the firm. Regularly write, speak and communicate through external venues. Work with the Executive team annually to identify strategic placement / speaking opportunities. Be a leadership voice in firm-wide meetings, and events. Provide inspirational leadership communicating aspirations, outcomes, directions, initiatives, policies, etc. Develop and execute internal communication processes to keep staff informed and foster collaboration.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As the Executive Director, Eastern Seaboard, you will be responsible for the growth of the region and realizing the ambitions of the strategic framework. The key responsibility of the role is to develop and execute a regional growth plan with a target of a minimum of 10% year-over-year growth, while continually being a champion for design excellence. While you will focus on a specific geographic area, a key part of the role is collaborating with key individuals to build out complementary and distinct capabilities across the firm to further advance SFMO (Single-Firm, Multi-Office). This requires implementing the regional growth in context with a firm-wide blueprint for developing a network of highly integrated offices. Executive Director, Eastern Seaboard, in concert with the AEI Executive Director of Operations, oversee the business practices, risk mitigation and quality execution of the work using a firm first, region second methodology. You will review contracting exceptions and grant exceptions using the firm’s and legal team guidance. You will be a champion for design, quality and a voice of sustainable strategies.
 
AREAS OF FOCUS
  • Regional Leadership: Responsible for sourcing, building and advancing a high-performing, diverse and inclusive senior leadership team including region, location / office-based talent. You will provide leadership, guidance, and support, holding leaders accountable to achieve firm wide goals and individual role responsibilities and expectations.
  • Strategic Leadership: Responsible for defining and executing a strategic regional growth plan. You will partner and engage with other firm, office, and market leadership to develop and implement a business plan which identifies key business strategies and entrepreneurial initiatives focused on the continued growth and impact of the region. 
  • Top Line Development: Partner with Office Practice Leaders, Market Leaders, and Business Line Leaders to identify growth market opportunities, key target clients and yearly Net Signed Fee targets that will grow the business volume of the region a minimum of 10% a year.   • Practice, Market, and Services Growth: Work with others to evaluate and take appropriate action to address the senior talent needs in the region. Support research and development and encourage development of new ideas, services, and products to differentiate the firm and expand business potential. 
  • Lead with strong Business Practices: Partner with your Regional Practice Director to champion the best practices of project management, risk management, process improvement, project leadership and financial stewardship. Together with the Regional Practice Director be accountable for achieving or exceeding the profitability goals noted above for the firm first and the region second. 
  • Communication and Brand Ambassador: Represent the Firm externally at community-based events, conferences and broader events that continually support the overall brand and direction of the firm. Regularly write, speak and communicate through external venues. Work with the Executive team annually to identify strategic placement / speaking opportunities. Be a leadership voice in firm-wide meetings, and events. Provide inspirational leadership communicating aspirations, outcomes, directions, initiatives, policies, etc. Develop and execute internal communication processes to keep staff informed and foster collaboration.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As the Executive Director, Western Region, you will be responsible for the growth of the region and realizing the ambitions of the strategic framework.
