What you'll do

As an Engineering Manager in the WARP team you will join a team that works on the backend system that allows our customers to manage their devices via our Zero Trust Network solution.

We are looking for an Engineer Manager to lead the Zero Trust team working on WARP API services, which uses Cloudflare’s global network to securely route tunnelled traffic from millions of devices running WARP to the Internet.

You will play a key role in shaping the team’s engineering strategy, working with other engineering teams, product management, and external stakeholders to implement customer-impacting features and meet the team’s ambitious goals of quality,reliability, and high-availability. You will work closely with your team to maintain thecode quality and to build solid, testable,andwell-documented code.

As a manager in our team, you will be expected to lead, inspire, and foster a culture of diversity. You will communicate clearly and with empathy, and work towards building a cohesive and collaborative team. You will be expected to interact with our customers and internal stakeholders, to identify gaps and areas of improvements in our product and processes alike, and to work with your own stakeholders to transform those into innovative, actionable, and achievable solutions.

The team predominantly uses Go and Typescript to implement the backend services that power WARP features like Device Posture. You will be most successful in this role if you have a strong understanding of networking and  operational principles (observability, alerting, tracing, incident management, SLIs & SLOs, capacity planning, etc.) with a special focus in High-Availability and Scalability.

Primary duties

Compensation, Rewards & Benefits:

The base pay for this role is: $119,200 - $156,450 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

 

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of company strategy and leverage that expertise to inform strategy, roadmap and decision making. Execute on the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data integrations investments that power our technology

  • Make technology and processes recommendations for improvements to stakeholder leads and product leadership

  • Where applicable and possible, challenge current technology and processes with the intent of implementing changes that solve business problems more efficiently

  • Help to define KPIs to measure business and operational impacts, and relentlessly identify improvements

  • Independently articulate crisp and thorough requirements, diagnose and resolve issues and clearly communicate across stakeholders, incorporating data and user research insights.

  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, data scientists, designers and other product managers to ship innovative functionality that advances our user experience and makes our tools more efficient 

  • Work closely with our design and research teams to gather insights on our user's evolving needs and use those insights to iterate on our strategy

  • Problem solve issues across teams to quickly diagnose root cause and move to resolution factoring in trade-offs on speed, scalability and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant working experience

  • 2+ years of experiencing working cross-functionally with engineering teams with 1+ years of experience partnering with engineers in a Product Management or Product Management- adjacent role

  • Comfortable with tech systems and understand basic technology infrastructure such as backend services, database relationships, and leveraging database tools such as SQL

About the Role

Are you ready to have maximum impact and work on a 0 to 1 product? We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Ad Formats team and build ad experiences on Caper Carts - an AI-powered smart cart equipped with scales, sensors, touchscreens, and computer vision technology. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing core technologies that bring Instacart’s Retail Media business onto Caper Carts, including indexing, serving, rendering, eventing, billing, reporting, experimentation, and more. You will also work closely with product managers, product designers, data scientists, ML engineers, product marketers, and other cross-functional partners.

 

 

About the Team

The Ads for Caper team is a newly formed team dedicated to bringing inspiration to the Caper shopping journey. We do this by connecting advertisers with consumers at the right time and place through delightful interactions. We will be building net new experiences and powering them with both existing and new backend ads systems. Come in on the ground floor and help build the team, scale the infrastructure, and support the rapid growth of Caper.

 

 

About the Job

We are operating with a startup mentality, and you should as well. You will initially be part of a small team that will grow with the product. We want to move quickly in order to iterate and find product market fit, while maintaining quality and craft.
