You will be part of a fast paced, high caliber team building the internal systems and infrastructure used to build the routing and switching products driving the industry's largest data center networks.

Arista’s Software Engineering team runs at a scale rarely found - TBs of source control, 60GB work trees with 1000s of developer branches in flight at any given time, over 400K daily build/test jobs and over 150 homegrown and cloud native services running on a 100 node on-prem bare metal kubernetes cluster.  Operating these systems takes vigilance, responsiveness to alerts, and a steady stream of updates and bug fixes to keep things running smoothly and efficiently as well as to increase our ability to monitor, understand and visualize them. The role will cover all aspects of our Kubernetes infrastructure, and may include monitoring, responding to, and enhancing alerts, working to unify and standardize our alerts, fine tuning code for scalability and performance, debugging problems, simplifying and securing developer experience with k8s etc. You will own your projects from definition to deployment, developer and vendor interactions, and you will be responsible for the quality of everything you deliver.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with existing k8s admin team to own different aspects of managing a production k8s cluster (eg: upgrades, monitoring, capacity planning, security, developer experience etc)
  • Proactively monitor, respond to, and enhance alerts and set up automated alert handling where applicable
  • Create and maintain the incident response runbooks working with the service dev teams
  • Debug and resolve issues impacting developer user experience and infrastructure stability around the k8s platform
  • Adopt current best practices in k8s cluster management. Evaluate and adopt OSS projects that simplify k8s cluster management.

  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience developing production software leveraging modern languages (including: Java, Python, Go, NodeJS, etc.)
  • One-plus (1+) years of experience developing containerized services deployed in production on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Mesos, Swarm, etc.
  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience with agile and lean software development philosophies.
  • One-plus (1+) years of experience working with relational and/or non-relational databases e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch etc.
  • Two-plus (2+) years of demonstrated experience with modern version control systems such as Git, Subversion, Mercurial, etc.
  • Clearable to a SECRET or above security clearance
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or other DoD 8570 IAT II certification, within 90 days
  • Six-plus (6+) years of experience leading teams of software engineers and extensive expertise in CI/CD implementation with proven track record of performance
  • Five-plus (5+) years of experience developing containerized services deployed on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Mesos, etc.
  • Five-plus (5+) years of demonstrated DevOps expertise leveraging Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment technologies such as Gitlab (and Gitlab Runners), Jenkins, Concourse, CircleCI, etc.
  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience with Infrastructure as Code frameworks such as Terraform.
  • Five-plus (5+) years of experience building services using Cloud Infrastructure Providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Two-plus (2+) years of experience securing applications via CI/CD pipelines leveraging static code analysis, unit and integration testing, dependency analysis, etc.

Your Impact

  • Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to prospects and customers working with your Account Manager and the local partners within your territory
  • Educate customers about industry trends and emerging changes to the security landscape that every customer needs to be aware of
  • Showcase security best practices and desired outcomes by building technical proof of concepts, and educating customers on the value proposition of Prisma Cloud
  • Be the technical voice of Sales for all things related to security and compliance in Public Cloud (Alicloud, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform)
  • Develop relationships with technical teams in channel partners who will be integral in providing successful deployments and cloud security
  • Act as a conduit for customer feedback to Product Management, Technical Marketing, competitor intelligence, and R&D to create requirements and deliver product features for our customers
  • Frequency of travel is about twice a month, on average - This includes occasional travel for internal events (sales kickoff, technical summit), as well as for cloud security and DevSecOps industry conferences

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Degree in CS or equivalent experience or equivalent military experience required
  • 3+ years technical sales or equivalent experience highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience using IaC software tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, GCP Cloud Deployment Manager etc) and CI/CD tools (IDEs, GitLab, GitHuB, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.)
  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform configuration and administration of security features and services (including identity and access management, networking, firewalls, encryption)
  • Background in security domain, cloud security highly preferred
  • Understanding of container and container orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
