Job Purpose

The Software Engineer will join the software development team in designing and implementing the development of our consumer-facing, high-traffic, e-commerce web platform.  We are looking for front end, back end, and fullstack developers from junior to mid-level.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops software solutions by identifying user and system requirements for anew customer-facing, high-traffic, e-commerce web platform
  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Proposes and enforces best practices for software development lifecycle
  • Proposes coding standards and guidelines for the team to follow and enforce them through code review process
  • Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities
  • Collaborates with team to brainstorm and creates new ideas and solutions
  • Designs the new web platform where security is part of the design consideration from the start
  • Ensures that the platform is designed and coded so ongoing deployment, support and maintenance can be streamlined, following the CI/CD process 
  • Performs technical analysis to support the effective and efficient development efforts
  • Writes code for key modules of the platform
  • Designs testing methodology including automated unit testing of the platform modules; able to do some testing if/when needed
  • Communicates on project/task status clearly and effectively with the management team, development team, and project managers
  • Moves fast, bias towards action, follows the cycle of coding, iterating, testing, deploying and optimizing websites
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of programming experience, including REST API, Python, Django, and VueJS experience.
  • Excellent MySQL, Postgresql and ElasticSearch skills with hands-on experience
  • Hands-on experience of designing and architecting high traffic consumer e-commerce websites 
  • Experience with CICD tools, Git, Jira
  • Web application security (OWASP) 
  • Experience working with queuing tools (e.g. RabbitMQ)
  • Experience working with large remote team
  • Hands on experience with agile development process
  • Hands on experience of having worked on a large scale e-commerce platform
  • Hands on experience with AWS web services
  • Experience with CSS, Javascript and HTML
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Broad website/software/application development skills
  • DevOps skills are highly preferred

  • Evaluate technical requests from programs, configuration, product and business development teams. Communicate constraints, tradeoffs and priorities
  • Own and expand on our code standards, code review and quality assurance processes to increase efficiency and minimize technical debt 
  • Grow a team of engineers and lead them in feature development and debugging best practices
  • Partner with the product team to expand the technical capacity of our storytelling, providing development support for interactive dashboard, reports and other reporting features 
  • Manage technology budget and contractor resources (including fractional IT support services)
  • Own relationships with software and hardware technology vendors

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience owning site infrastructure and leading technology teams

  • Perform change control requests (code deployments)

  • Monitor and tune DB2 databases (V11.5) and MongoDB
  • Handling user requests is a given.
  • Participate in on-call 24X7 support of production systems on a rotation basis with other team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent.

The Consumer AV (Autonomous Vehicle) team plays a central role in connecting AVs to riders and the public. The team owns safety-critical integrations to a variety of hardware components, managing the vehicle’s cabin during and between rides, and simulation tooling to enable remote testing capabilities for Cruisers.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II who will be responsible for leading, designing, and implementing complex, highly scalable, low-latency software in C++ on Linux-based ROS systems. This is a unique opportunity to build high impact, user-focused products that integrate with all teams across Cruise.

 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of next-generation AVs across various platforms.

  • Lead the design and execution of AV system architectures to enable key workflows, such as user trip states for ridehail and delivery services.

  • Develop and maintain I/O, data processing, and vehicle control nodes that seamlessly integrate with hardware components.

  • Create simulation tools that empower the Cruise remote workforce to conduct virtual product testing and validation.

  • Drive improvements in software reliability through requirements generation, continuous integration, automated testing, issue tracking, and comprehensive code reviews.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Systems Engineering, Program Management, Product Management, Fleet Operations, and peer software teams to develop critical features for AVs.

  • Deliver complex projects providing guidance and mentorship to team members throughout the development process.

 

What you must have

  • 5+ years of proven experience building, testing and shipping production-quality software

  • 5+ years of experience with modern C++

  • Strong computer science fundamentals in object oriented programming, scalable software systems, data structures, algorithm design, best practices, and complexity analysis

  • The Cloud and Infrastructure Systems Engineer collaborates with peers to complete projects and support business initiatives and participates in the development of architectural standards and procedures.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and maintain server infrastructure and highly available solutions to satisfy business objectives both in the cloud and on premises
  • Manage virtualized infrastructure under VMware ESXi 7/8 and Amazon EC2
  • Responsible for maintaining security standards, patch deployment and vulnerability remediation across server infrastructure
  • Administers Microsoft Office 365 and email security products
  • Manage internal and external DNS using Microsoft and 3rd party vendors
  • Manages and maintains cloud based Nasuni file storage
  • Responsible for the integration of SaaS vendors with Azure, AD and/or Office365 including implementation of single sign on (SSO)
  • Supports and continues to enhance user account lifecycle automation using solutions such as Microsoft Identity Manager or Entra Identity Governance
  • Configures and monitors SaaS based infrastructure backup solutions such as Cohesity and Avepoint
  • Communicates and effectively interacts with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races
  • Consistently display an outstanding customer service attitude.
  • Acts as a business partner to multiple organizations, recommending secure processes and systems.
  • Develops documentation and maintains knowledge base to document solutions and define procedures.
  • Mentors junior staff and cross trains peers and other teams on areas of expertise

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant technical related experience or training 

Preferred:

  • Expert knowledge of VMware ESXi in an enterprise environment
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft server products including (Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
  • Experience managing Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory
  • Experience working in heterogenous environments that include Microsoft and Linux servers.
  • Advanced Powershell automation scripting skills including interaction with REST API and/or database services
  • Work as part of a team to support global operations of Dynatrace’s computer systems and applications.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Industry certifications from VMware, Microsoft or AWS highly desirable

The Cortex team builds and delivers the industry’s most advanced SecOps platform, consisting of XSIAM, XSOAR, and XPANSE. As a member of the Cortex DevOps team,  your role involves operating and maintaining a large-scale GCP environment, including the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of our comprehensive observability systems. To meet the opportunities that such a role provides, you will have a deep knowledge of modern observability and monitoring tools and practices, having managed high cardinality metrics, implemented tracing, and operationalized large scale logging solutions. As part of this role, you will  collaborate closely with our engineering teams to develop innovative solutions that provide clear and actionable insights into our systems’ performance and health.

Your Impact

As a Senior Staff SRE with the Cortex Observability team, you will:

  • Cloud Expertise: Utilize your expertise in monitoring cloud platforms, particularly GCP, to optimize our infrastructure leveraging cloud-native technologies.

  • Monitoring Expertise: Improve monitoring processes, alerts, and metrics. Work with development teams to ensure that all of our services have the right monitoring and metrics in place so that we detect problems before our customers do.

  • Incident Management: Leverage incident management processes to ensure efficient resolution of system issues and minimal impact on services.

  • Automation: Automate complex monitoring and alerting tasks by building tools for cloud operations, such as automated remediation of known issues and auto-scaling.

  • Continuously Improve: Stay up-to-date with cutting-edge technologies, evaluate their potential impact on our operations, and implement them when appropriate.

  • On-Call: Participate with our DevOps team to provide follow-the-sun operational coverage in the production of our SaaS product.

  • Collaborate: Work with our Engineering team to influence the operability of the product and ensure the reliability and availability of our services.

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Observability Tools:High proficiency with Prometheus, Grafana, and other monitoring tools. Experience with log management solutions, particularly Splunk and ELK.

  • Distributed Tracing: Experience deploying distributed tracing using technologies such as OpenTelemetry.

  • Incident and Alerts Management:Clear understanding of incident and alerts management in Site Reliability Engineering.

  • DevOps/SRE Expertise:5+ years of experience as a DevOps/SRE engineer with a passion for technology and a strong motivation for high reliability at the service level.

  • Cloud Proficiency:High proficiency in either Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services.

  • Kubernetes and Docker:High proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker for container orchestration.

  • Scripting and Automation:High proficiency in Python programming and Linux Shell commands. Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.

  • Communication Skills:Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work and coordinate between multiple teams.

  • Troubleshooting:Ability to effectively troubleshoot and address emerging and complex problems.

  • Independence:Ability to operate independently, make decisions, take action, and take responsibility.
