About the Role

As a data scientist on the business analytics team, you will work with the leadership team on a daily basis to unpack business performance and insights to influence decision making and long-term strategy. You will work across reporting and infra, monthly business performance readouts and quarterly board reporting, forecasting, and analytical deep-dives, all of which are relied heavily upon leaders to understand the current state of the business where it’s headed.

Your Responsibilities

  • Define, measure, and track the key metrics that measure Thumbtack’s success
  • Design and build key company data tables, dashboards, and insights tools that power decisions across the company, and evolve them as our product and business change
  • Conduct in-depth analyses to answer key questions that are critical to Thumbtack’s strategy
  • Support and improve company revenue forecasting model, and forecasting/planning process
  • Partner effectively with teams across the company, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, as well as Thumbtack’s leadership team

For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $97,537.50 - $126,225. Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.

About the team

Angi is seeking an exceptional Staff Data Scientist who can enable our transformation into a world-class online marketplace. Our Data Science and Machine Learning team uses state-of-the-art machine learning and AI techniques such as LLMs and neural rankers to both structured and unstructured data. The fraud detection team is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the platform by actively protecting both homeowners and pros from fraud. We develop models to screen and onboard new users, verify user authenticity, prevent spam, and remove misleading reviews & profiles. Our efforts extend to ensuring the quality of interactions so that every experience on Angi builds confidence and trust in the platform. 

In addition to developing models, we’re also looking for someone who can deploy them at large scale with low latencies to serve our customers dynamically working closely with our Machine learning engineers and data platform team.

What you’ll do

  • Model Development & Data Strategy: Lead development of state-of-the-art machine learning models and algorithms to improve fraud detection in both sides of the marketplace and booking process. This will include but not limited to having expertise in the fraud domain and building models with high efficiencies. Success in these areas will impact reducing the risk and fraud and improving user experience as critical metrics for business success. 
  • Model Deployment: Implement highly optimized models to ensure the seamless deployment and scalability in production. This includes automating model training, versioning, monitoring, and deployment processes to enable fast, reliable delivery of machine learning solutions into production environments.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with a strong team of engineers, data scientists, product managers, and designers to build scalable and high-impact machine learning systems. Collaborate on the end-to-end development process, from ideation to deployment, ensuring that data-driven solutions are seamlessly integrated into our products and services.
  • Innovation: Foster innovation within the team, exploring new approaches and techniques to solve complex business problems.

Who you are

  • You have a Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields).
  • You have 7+ years of experience in data science & machine learning, with a focus on real-time ML models, ideally within the tech industry & marketplace environments with focus on fraud.
  • You are an expert in machine learning and deep learning, and have a good working knowledge of large language models. 
  • You have expertise in state-of-the-art algorithms such as Graph NN, Reinforcement Learning and other unsupervised learning approaches for detecting transactional and non-transactional frauds. 
  • You have a proven track record of deploying highly impactful machine learning models into production environments.
  • You are proficient in SQL and Python, and have experience with cloud ML solutions.

Qualifications

To succeed as a Battery Storage Engineer at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in battery storage engineering, operations, or asset management. Experience in utility-scale or commercial BESS operations is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of battery chemistry, cell-level degradation mechanisms, and energy management systems (EMS).
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) and experience with SCADA systems and monitoring platforms.

  • Experience in firmware code review, CI/CD test and validation methodology, as well as static and dynamic code analysis. Familiarity with the Agile software development process life cycle is also desired.
  • Proficiency in failure analysis in debugging an embedded firmware application, using debuggers such as Lauterbach.
  • An engineer who can take ownership of given features and manage them from start to finish. Being self-motivated and driven is essential for this role.
  • Good communication skills and be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Arista’s Software Engineering team runs at a scale rarely found - TBs of source control, 60GB work trees with 1000s of developer branches in flight at any given time, over 400K daily build/test jobs and over 150 homegrown and cloud native services running on a 100 node on-prem bare metal Kubernetes cluster.  Operating these systems takes vigilance, responsiveness to alerts, and a steady stream of updates and bug fixes to keep things running smoothly and efficiently as well as to increase our ability to monitor, understand and visualize them. The role will cover all aspects of our Kubernetes infrastructure, and may include monitoring, responding to, and enhancing alerts, working to unify and standardize our alerts, fine tuning code for scalability and performance, debugging problems, simplifying and securing developer experience with k8s etc. You will own your projects from definition to deployment, developer and vendor interactions, and you will be responsible for the quality of everything you deliver.

What You’ll Do

Working in the Engineering Productivity (EngProd) group, you will collaborate and work with other engineers to design, build, scale, and operate the systems that the rest of Arista’s development teams use.  The EngProd team uses industry-standard systems like Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Grafana, Spinnaker, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Google Cloud, and Varnish and also internal systems that we’ve built from the ground-up to automate CI/CD, testing, analysis, and visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with existing k8s admin team to own different aspects of managing a production k8s cluster (eg: upgrades, monitoring, capacity planning, security, developer experience etc)
  • Proactively monitor, respond to, and enhance alerts and set up automated alert handling where applicable
  • Create and maintain the incident response runbooks working with the service dev teams
  • Debug and resolve issues impacting developer user experience and infrastructure stability around the k8s platform
  • Adopt current best practices in k8s cluster management. Evaluate and adopt OSS projects that simplify k8s cluster management. 
  • Set up guidelines and paved paths for service dev teams improving developer experience around the k8s platform.
  • Work with Arista’s software engineers to identify bottlenecks and limitations in our workflows, tooling, and infrastructure around k8s and provide fixes for those problems.
  • Engage with 3rd party vendor support as part of triage

Qualifications

  • At least BSc Computer Science or Engineering + 8 years’ experience, MS Computer Science or Engineering + 6 years’ experience, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of one or more of Go, Python, Javascript. Experience with shell Scripting to be able to implement medium complexity automation workflows.
  • Knowledge of Linux (or UNIX).
  • Experience in operating software systems at scale.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of storage and networking.
  • Comfortable with Ansible and GitOps.
  • Strong expertise with managing on-prem/baremetal Kubernetes clusters.
  • Applied understanding of software engineering principles.
  • Strong problem solving and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to design a solution and implement features independently. Ability to work in small teams.
  • Comfortable with security principles and able to study source code of OSS projects, conduct experiments as necessary to debug issues.
  • Proven expertise with debugging complex issues that span the technology stack.
  • Experience dealing with network proxies and containerized storage.

Compensation Information

The new hire base pay for this role has a pay range of CAD 120,000 to 160,000.

Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location.

The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Automated Utility Design (AUD) Trainer and Implementation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in utility design and implementation, with a focus on automation technologies. This role includes the development and delivery of training programs, helping stakeholders effectively utilize AUD systems, and ensuring successful implementation of solutions within urban and rural utility frameworks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Training Development and Delivery:

o Create comprehensive training materials and programs tailored to various audiences, including technical personnel, engineers, and management.

o Conduct hands-on training sessions, workshops, and webinars to educate users on AUD practices, software tools, and best practices.

o Evaluate training effectiveness and modify programs accordingly to ensure continuous improvement.

· Subject Matter Expertise:

o Serve as the primary SME on automated utility design, providing insights and guidance on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and technology trends.

o Collaborate with product development teams to contribute to the design and refinement of AUD solutions based on user feedback and market needs.

· Implementation Support:

o Assist clients in the deployment of AUD systems, ensuring alignment with their operational goals and technical specifications.

o Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the implementation phase, providing effective solutions to ensure project milestones are met.

o Gather and document user requirements to facilitate customization of AUD tools to meet specific needs.

· Stakeholder Collaboration:

o Engage and communicate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and customer support, to promote AUD solutions and gather insights for improvements.

o Foster relationships with clients and industry partners to drive adoption and gather feedback for continuous enhancement of training and product offerings.

· Continuous Learning and Development:

o Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in automated utility design.

o Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills pertinent to the role.

Qualifications

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Platform Engineer who specialises in Observability, primarily focused around the open-source Grafana observability stack. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing the lifecycle of our observability platform, ensuring robust monitoring, logging, tracing and profiling for our applications running on Kubernetes. You will contribute to the architecture, implementation, and continuous improvement of our observability pipeline, enabling teams to monitor and optimise system performance efficiently.:

  • Implementing OpenTelemetry within application codebases and managing Otel tooling and services.

  • Architect, implement, and manage an observability stack based on Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, and other related technologies within a Kubernetes environment.

  • Ensure comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing coverage for microservices and Kubernetes clusters.
