The Role

You’ll be part of a dynamic micro-team with a clear focus, bringing together engineering, product management, and design to work towards shared goals. Each team works together to design, test, build, measure, ship and iterate the experiences that will deliver value to the business by helping customers with:

  • Inspiration – help them find and fall in love with a shortlist of trips from among 200+ unique adventures
  • Information – give them what they need to choose one trip
  • Reassurance – help them get comfortable with all the details and logistics beyond the trip it

The teams have a high amount of ownership, autonomy and agency, and are expected to use this latitude wisely. We have recently been working highly collaboratively in one-week sprints, shipping multiple A/B tests. While this will continue, there will also be scope for larger and more strategic product initiatives, including the development of a native mobile app.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of the product design – researching, conceiving, prototyping, presenting and designing multiple options for high-quality product experiences that solve real customer and business problems. We don’t do “hand-offs”, so you’ll be deeply involved across the product lifecycle and expected to wear many hats.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep, nuanced and multi-faceted understanding of MBA, our customers, user experiences, values and expanding range of adventures around the world
  • Positively influence our product direction by designing industry-leading software experiences that evolve and innovate on our existing UI, UX, and brand foundations
  • Work closely with your team members in product and engineering, collaborate with other product teams and work cross-functionally across the business to launch high-quality, user-facing product experiences
  • Demonstrate an extremely high level of ownership, standards, velocity, and drive with a bias for action
  • Consistently design and deliver high-quality UIs that raise the standard for what good design looks like at MBA
  • Participate in design reviews and share your work regularly with the company leadership
  • Drive and support UX research projects
  • You will also help us develop our first mobile app, so native app design experience is a must

This is an extremely important hire for us. You will need to meet the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years design experience in digital products and software
  • Design lead on native mobile app/s (iOS and Android)
  • A strong and diverse portfolio demonstrating your design skills with high-quality, well-crafted UI and UX on web and mobile
  • Demonstrable experience partnering closely with product, engineering and other cross-functional teams to drive product direction
  • Ability to come together in-person 1-5 times per year and work effectively remotely
  • Extremely effective communication and adept at explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional partners and stakeholders

Preferred qualifications

  • Editorial and content design
  • Front end HTML/CSS/JS skills highly desirable

Job ‘Need to Know’ details

  • Working Hours: a full time role is 40 hours per week, with core hours being 1000 - 1500 GMT (regardless of where you are based), and a flexible hours policy for the remaining time. We also welcome applicants from those wanting to work part-time, but we require 80% (32 hours) minimum.
  • Location: you must be resident either in the UK or in Europe (max +2 hours GMT).

THE ROLE

Khan Academy is seeking an experienced and versatile Math educator to serve as a Secondary Math Content Creator. This is a fixed-term position with an expected term of 24 months. By offering high quality standards-aligned Math lessons for free, we hope to empower millions of students to take charge of their futures and improve their lives.

As a Content Creator, you’ll leverage your intuition for what matters to deliver high quality learning content, robust coverage, and usage. You’ll own and drive content creation and curation on some courses, and contribute to similar efforts on courses driven by others. You won’t be working in isolation; you’ll be working closely with other members of the content team, other teams at KA, and external contributors.

Our content team includes content creators from around the world who make our videos, articles, and practice questions. Today, our courses include nearly every math topic from K-14, science and humanities content covering high school and early college, test prep for several national exams, and much more! In the years ahead, we want to double down on making our courses great in classrooms and help push online education to the next level.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with the content team to expand our Mathcourses by leveraging market research, your subject matter expertise, and your intuition for learner needs
  • Develop course scopes and sequences, including units, lessons, and content assets (articles, videos, and exercises)
  • Create and curate high quality content on schedule, designing and developing new standards-aligned exercises and articles, leveraging pre-existing resources from Khan Academy and third parties, and scriptingengaging lesson videos 
  • Be accountable for content from any contractors and 3rd parties used to build out the courses you’re working on
  • Track the performance and usage of content in the courses in your purview
  • Leverage analytics, community features, and campaigns to attract and retain learners
  • Learn and use our content management system to improve existing courses and build new courses 
  • Act as an editorial expert by reviewing new content, participating in the maintenance of existing content, and working with partners
  • Contribute to the long-term strategic direction of Khan Academy’s content efforts by improving upon our processes around content sourcing, sharing insights with other members of the team, and advocating for learners

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Proven ability to create high-impact learning content in your discipline (minimum of 2 years of content development experience in secondary Math subjects with a focus on Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, and AP math courses. 
  • Strong intuition for how students like to learn and insight into common misconceptions (minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching/tutoring experience)
  • Previous edtech experience developing math content is a plus 
  • Experience and aptitude working with multiple standards sets (e.g. CCSS, State Standards etc.) to ensure coverage and alignment during course development and curation.
  • Desire to teach at scale, engage with a broad array of learners, and question your assumptions about what's most important for learners
  • Desire to leverage online tools to publish quickly, gather user feedback, and iterate on content
  • Highly analytical and able to make tough prioritization calls in service of most critical metrics
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, including a high tolerance for ambiguity, a penchant for experimentation, and a bias toward action
  • Strong interest in building replicable systems and minimizing reinvention of the wheel
  • Experience leading collaborative work on time-sensitive projects
  • Impeccable command of written communication; an energetic can-do attitude as a fluent and efficient content creator, a keen editorial eye for high quality text in exercises and articles, and a knack for empowering, supportive peer review.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and time management skills
  • Project management skills (e.g. fluent with Google docs and spreadsheets and other tools) and a willingness to learn new tools

THE ROLE

Khan Academy is seeking an experienced and versatile Math educator to serve as a grades 3-8 Math Content Creator. This is a fixed-term position with an expected term of 24 months. By offering high quality standards-aligned Math lessons for free, we hope to empower millions of students to take charge of their futures and improve their lives.

As a Content Creator, you’ll leverage your intuition for what matters to deliver high quality learning content, robust coverage, and usage. You’ll own and drive content creation and curation on some courses, and contribute to similar efforts on courses driven by others. You won’t be working in isolation; you’ll be working closely with other members of the content team, other teams at KA, and external contributors.

Our content team includes content creators from around the world who make our videos, articles, and practice questions. Today, our courses include nearly every math topic from K-14, science and humanities content covering high school and early college, test prep for several national exams, and much more! In the years ahead, we want to double down on making our courses great in classrooms and help push online education to the next level.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with the content team to expand our Mathcourses by leveraging market research, your subject matter expertise, and your intuition for learner needs
  • Develop course scopes and sequences, including units, lessons, and content assets (articles, videos, and exercises)
  • Create and curate high quality content on schedule, designing and developing new standards-aligned exercises and articles, leveraging pre-existing resources from Khan Academy and third parties, and scripting (and possibly recording) engaging lesson videos 
  • Be accountable for content from any contractors and 3rd parties used to build out the courses you’re working on
  • Track the performance and usage of content in the courses in your purview
  • Leverage analytics, community features, and campaigns to attract and retain learners
  • Learn and use our content management system to improve existing courses and build new courses 
  • Act as an editorial expert by reviewing new content, participating in the maintenance of existing content, and working with partners
  • Contribute to the long-term strategic direction of Khan Academy’s content efforts by improving upon our processes around content sourcing, sharing insights with other members of the team, and advocating for learners

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Proven ability to create high-impact learning content in your discipline (minimum of 2 years of content development experience in grades 3-8 Math subjects including Algebra I).
  • Strong intuition for how students like to learn and insight into common misconceptions (minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching/tutoring experience)
  • Previous edtech experience developing math content is a plus 
  • Experience and aptitude working with multiple standards sets (e.g. CCSS, State Standards etc.) to ensure coverage and alignment during course development and curation.
  • Desire to teach at scale, engage with a broad array of learners, and question your assumptions about what's most important for learners
  • Desire to leverage online tools to publish quickly, gather user feedback, and iterate on content
  • Highly analytical and able to make tough prioritization calls in service of most critical metrics
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, including a high tolerance for ambiguity, a penchant for experimentation, and a bias toward action
  • Strong interest in building replicable systems and minimizing reinvention of the wheel
  • Experience leading collaborative work on time-sensitive projects
  • Impeccable command of written communication; an energetic can do attitude as a fluent and efficient content creator, a keen editorial eye for high quality text in exercises and articles, and a knack for empowering, supportive peer review.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and time management skills
  • Project management skills (e.g. fluent with Google docs and spreadsheets and other tools) and a willingness to learn new tools

The anticipated salary range for this position is $125,488.00 - $184,000.00.   • Partner with product stakeholders to create a UX strategy that incorporates long term vision planning and short term rapid execution.
  • Mentor less experienced UX team members in UX best practices and oversee implementation.
  • Support the practice of design and research within the larger company as needed through activities such as:
    • Assisting in outreach, recruitment, and hiring efforts

THE ROLE

As Pathstream expands its work with Fortune 500 companies, we are seeking a Lead Product Designer to lead projects to successful outcomes for learners and the companies we partner with by approaching problems holistically and creating simple solutions. In this role, you’ll work from idea to implementation alongside product designers, product managers, engineers, learning designers, career coaches, and executives to shape the Pathstream product and ecosystem. 

As a Lead Product Designer, you will shape the learner journey by creating intuitive, accessible, and impactful designs where learners can interact with learning content, and track their progress as they develop essential and technical skills. You’ll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver a platform that truly meets the needs of our users, while elevating the standard of design excellence in both visual and interaction aspects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Expertise in Interaction & Visual Design

  • Design user interactions that are intuitive, efficient, and accessible, enhancing the overall user experience.
  • Tendency towards systems thinking, distilling when to leverage patterns and when to innovate.
  • Ability to think through complex use cases and distill how to communicate design intent through user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes across different levels of stakeholders.
  • Always considers edge cases and knows how to assess and prioritize them as it relates to the user experience.
  • Deliver a high level of visual design, creating interfaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
  • Deliver high-quality designs across all stages of the product life cycle, from initial concepts to final handoff.
  • Knowledgeable in responsive and adaptive design.
  • Experience with building and/or contributing to design systems.

Understand Product Strategy

  • Collaborate with product management to align design work with overall product strategy and user needs.
  • Balance business objectives with a deep understanding of the needs of frontline workers.

User Research & Insights

  • Closely collaborate with UX Researcher to conduct user research and interviews as needed to gain insights into the experiences, challenges, and needs of frontline workers.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and validate product ideas.
  • Develop a deep understanding of effective user experiences for students learning new skills.

Collaboration with Engineering & Product Management

  •  Work closely with engineering and product management teams to ensure design intent and maintain a seamless development process.
  • Provide design specifications and assets, and support implementation with frequent communication and iteration.
  • File tickets for bugs and be responsive in JIRA, lead design QA, and support prioritization of design changes.

Facilitation & Presentation Skills

  • Present and articulate design decisions and rationale to stakeholders and team members at all levels.
  • Facilitate workshops and design reviews to gather feedback, align on goals, and build consensus.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation 

  • Stay updated on design trends, tools, and best practices, and bring new ideas and techniques to the team.
  • Continuously iterate on designs based on user feedback and data to improve usability and effectiveness.

 

ABOUT YOU 

  • 5+ years of experience in product design with a proven track record of working within a product team to ship successful products to users.
  • Proficient in user experience best practices, accessibility, responsiveness, design systems, industry standards for UX/UI design, and user testing methodologies.
  • Highly proficient with Figma.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
  • Experience leading the end-to-end design process.
  • Methodical with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-directed and biased towards action.
  • Constantly improving and open to feedback through collaboration.
  • Strong design portfolio that demonstrates depth of skill in both UX and UI, solving complex problems with elegant design solutions.
  • Excels at understanding and prioritizing the needs of users and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
  • You’re confident in navigating uncertainty and adapting your methodology to fit the problem space.
  • You’re an effective communicator and team player.
  • Experience working at a fully remote company is a plus
  • Experience designing for diverse, non-traditional users is a plus (e.g., frontline or deskless workers).

Ads Marketplace: 

The Ads Marketplace team is responsible for the systems and algorithms for showing the right ad to the right user at the right time to balance user value, advertiser value, and instacart revenue. The team optimizes a multi-sided marketplace to ensure customers see ads that help them try new products/brands, advertisers get their products in front of appropriate users for a good return on investment, and instacart generates the deserving revenue as well. The team tackles hard problems in a variety of spaces, such as ranking, pricing, personalization, UX as well as foundational problems executing on a high throughput system with dynamic data. You'll develop and enhance Instacart's ads systems together with senior members of product & software engineering. You will use machine learning to devise and refine solutions throughout the ads auction such as ads selection, ranking, and pricing for all of Instacart’s consumer facing pages such as: search, storefront, aisle, pre and post checkout experiences, among many others.

  • Take ownership of support cases and perform detailed troubleshooting, provide workaround resolutions, root cause analysis and major incident management.
  • Perform detailed validation of customer ETL process and data when required to confirm/diagnose customer support issues
  • Document processes and procedures and update knowledge database
  • Use Jira and Hubspot for maintaining project information and contact details, to document, track, monitor, and report support cases.
  • Advocate for the end user; ensure they receive top quality, timely service and support
