MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • The position may require access to U.S. export-controlled technologies, technical data, or sensitive government data.

  • Participate in pager duty rotations during nights, weekends, and holidays

As a Senior Cloud Support Engineer, your role is to delight our customers with your passion and knowledge of Snowflake Data Warehouse.  Customers will look to you for technical guidance and for expert advice with regards to their effective and optimal use of Snowflake.  You will be the voice of the customer into Snowflake’s product and engineering teams for product feedback and improvements.  You will play an integral role in building knowledge within the team and be part of strategic initiatives for organizational and process improvements.

Ideally, you have worked in a 24x7 environment, handled technical case escalations and incident management, worked in technical support for a RDBMS, been on-call during weekends, and are familiar with database release management.

YOU WILL:

  • Provide technical support to commercial and public sector customers 
  • Drive technical solutions to complex problems providing in-depth analysis and guidance to Snowflake customers and partners using the following methods of communication: email, web, and phone
  • Adhere to response and resolution SLAs and escalation processes in order to ensure fast resolution of customer issues that exceeds expectations
  • Utilize the Snowflake environment, connectors, 3rd party partner software, and tools to investigate issues 
  • Document known solutions to internal and external knowledge base
  • Submit well documented bugs and feature requests arising from customer submitted requests
  • Partner with engineering teams in prioritizing and resolving customer requests
  • Participate in incident management and on-call rotation
  • Participate in a variety of Support initiatives
  • Provide support coverage during holidays and weekends based on business needs

OUR IDEAL SENIOR CLOUD SUPPORT ENGINEER WILL HAVE:

  • B.S. or M.S degree in CS, MIS or equivalent discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in a Technical Support or similar function in the public sector space
  • Understanding of data warehousing fundamentals and concepts
  • Ability to debug, rewrite, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for achieving workarounds or better solutions
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS, SQL data types, aggregations, and functions including analytical/window functions
  • Good understanding of RDBMS query profiles and execution plans to analyze query performance and make recommendations for improvement
  • Good understanding of database query lifecycle and internal join processing

In addition to customer engagements, you will work with our internal team to provide requirements for our Snowconvert utility, based on project experiences.  This ensures that our tooling is continuously improved based on our implementation experience.  This role will report to the Director of Data Engineering and Snowpark within the Workload Solutions team in the PS&T organization at Snowflake. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Delivery

  • Be well-versed in migrations of applications, code, and data onto cloud platforms - and how to lead design of the subsequent services onto Snowflake
  • Have the ability to outline the architecture of Spark and Scala environments 
  • Guide customers on architecting and building data engineering pipelines on Snowflake 
  • Run workshops and design sessions with stakeholders and customers
  • Troubleshoot migration issues 
  • Create repeatable processes and documentation as a result of customer engagement
  • Scripting using python and shell scripts for ETL workflow

RESPONSIBILITIES :

WHAT YOU'LL HAVE:

  • 10-12 years of experience in developer education, developer relations, and technical writing 
  • Working knowledge of platforms and tools such as: Huggingface, Llama2, mistral, Pinecone, Weaviate, LlamaIndex, and Langchain.
  • You have a working knowledge of data platforms like Kubernetes, PyTorch, Kafka, Postgres; developer tools like SDKs, APIs, LLMs, and have experience of writing code sample projects, demos, or tutorials for two of these languages: JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, Go, or Ruby
  • Experience of working within cross-functional teams (product management, marketing, product engineering, support, customer success, etc).

OUR IDEAL SOLUTION INNOVATION ARCHITECT WILL HAVE: 

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technology consulting and/or sales engineering, designing, developing, and implementing technical solutions.
  • Deep Snowflake expertise, with experience in Snowflake implementations, best practices, and complex topics and design patterns.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams, communicating effectively between business and technical stakeholders.
  • Direct experience working in the SaaS space. Proficiency in Data Warehousing, Cloud, Analytics, and Business Intelligence is required.
  • Organized and able to manage and deliver multiple tasks efficiently, effectively, and on time in a metrics-based organization.
  • Excellent technical writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
  • Expertise in SQL, including complex query writing, optimization, and performance tuning.

  • Work with Snowflake account teams to help customers scope AI and ML projects, execute technical evaluations, and architect production grade solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with our Product team to influence Snowflake’s AI and ML product roadmaps based on field team and customer feedback.
  • Partner with Product Marketing teams to spread awareness and support pipeline building via customer roundtables, conferences, events, blogs, webinars, and whitepapers

ON DAY ONE, WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:

  • 5+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning solutions in the cloud, including expert level experience with Python and popular third party packages (Pandas, Numpy, Tensorflow, sklearn, Pytorch, etc.)
  • 1-2 years of experience working with LLMs on real-world use cases, including exposure to developer tools like langchain.
  • Applied knowledge of techniques needed to build performant Generative AI solutions with LLMs and foundation models in enterprise settings, like few shot prompt engineering, RAG, search and retrieval techniques, etc. 
  • 2+ years of working with cloud native ML and AI tools such as Sagemaker, AzureML, or VertexAI.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering technologies and tools (dbt, Airflow, etc)
  • Outstanding presentation skills to both technical and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using presentations and demos.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience

BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  • 2+ years experience building and deploying ML or data engineering applications and solutions on Spark
  • Working knowledge of R, Scala, or other scripting languages
  • 1+ years of practical Snowflake experience.
  • Experience working in a go-to-market team at a SaaS company or technical consulting organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience with large-scale database technology (e.g. Snowflake, Netezza, Exadata, Teradata, Greenplum, etc.)
