Agile Six is hiring a Remote Product Owner

Agile Six is a people-first, remote-work company that serves shoulder-to-shoulder with federal agencies to find innovative, human-centered solutions. We build better by putting people first. We are animated by our core values of Purpose, Wholeness, Trust, Self-Management and Inclusion. We deliver our solutions in autonomous teams of self-managed professionals (no managers here!) who genuinely care about each other and the work. We know that’s our company’s purpose – and that we can only achieve it by supporting a culture where people feel valued, self-managed, and love to come to work.

The Role:

Agile Six is looking for a Product Owner to join a cross-functional agile, Human-Centered Design (HCD) team to develop and maintain a web-based collaboration tool within the VA.gov domain. The system curates the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) promising innovations, encourages their diffusion, and fosters engagement with greater healthcare communities.

The successful candidate has a passion for eliciting, shaping, and communicating a digital product vision. You understand that great products are built collaboratively to fulfill the needs of both end users and client stakeholders, and are able to prioritize work accordingly. You are an intrinsically driven leader, an eloquent storyteller, a relationship builder, and know how to set, monitor, and measure progress towards product goals. You take initiative to understand the evolving stakeholder landscape, and are flexible to adapt to the needs of your client and team. Most importantly, you have a passion for working on important problems that have a lasting impact on millions of users and make a difference in our Government!

The team is working in the following public GitHub repository:

Responsibilities

  • Develop an expert understanding of business and user needs and champion these in the definition of the product
  • Define, explain, and iterate a product vision that is compelling to your users, team, and stakeholders, and develop a high-level product roadmap and other deliverables as necessary (objectives, KPIs, key results, etc.) to support fulfillment of the vision
  • Integrate and leverage UX research and design within a cross-functional team to continuously inform the product vision, roadmap, and backlog
  • Create and maintain a prioritized product backlog: write and prioritize epics, features and stories; write clear, actionable acceptance criteria; and lead backlog refinement with the team
  • Actively participate in sprint planning ceremonies, and be available to team members throughout each sprint to answer questions about the priority, intent and acceptance criteria pertaining to user stories
  • Establish a healthy, trust-based rapport and effective communication with government product owners and other stakeholders
  • Actively and collaboratively manage risk related to product vision and features, changes in scope or direction, and expectations around delivery timelines
  • Ensure that product backlogs, roadmaps, and other guidance around product definition are informed by feedback loops around user needs (i.e. foundational user research, usability testing, etc.) as well as overall product strategy and vision
  • We expect the responsibilities of this position to shift and grow organically over time, in response to considerations such as the unique strengths and interests of the selected candidate and other team members and an evolving understanding of the delivery environment.

Basic qualifications

  • 4+ years years as a Product Owner/Manager or related role on an Agile team with responsibilities listed above
  • Proven track record of launching and sustaining products, and managing clients and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated technical competency to communicate a detailed roadmap and vision
  • In-depth knowledge and application of Agile principles and practices
  • Has lived and worked in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years

About the Role

As the product leader of the Adoption team you will take ownership of the Cloudflare dashboard and cloudflare.com. You will measure and grow the engagement of customers and prospects with our products and with Cloudflare itself. Problems you may face:

  • How can cloudflare.com do better at educating prospects about Cloudflare products and our mission to build a better Internet? How do we measure progress?
  • How can the dashboard provide individual product teams a powerful canvas on which to deliver world-class experiences? Can we maintain a tech stack and common design language that empowers individual teams to build great experiences rather than constrain them?
  • Can we simultaneously educate customers about our products, convince them to pay, then onboard and upsell them to new offerings as well as encourage them to onboard their colleagues and friends?
  • Can we manage adjacent cost drivers like customer support and outbound sales? Can we be confident that moving the needle on these fronts is doing more good than harm? Can we leverage adjacent channels like cloudflare.tv and social media?
  • Many customers interact with Cloudflare predominantly through APIs or Terraform. How can these properties serve the needs of those customers as well while maintaining velocity of innovation?

As Director of Product Management, Adoption, you’ll be responsible for leading a small team of PMs who partner with a committed set of engineering, design, and go-to-market teams as well as product teams from around the company to meet these challenges. At the same time, you’ll be expected to establish and maintain a high performance culture in your team and contribute to citizenship at Cloudflare - promoting excellence and elevation of the craft of Product Management across the company.

Key Competencies

In this role, you’ll be responsible for building and iterating existing products and delivering brand-new. We want to find someone who is curious, can learn quickly, think creatively, and work cross-functionally with engineering, design and other teams. A few key competencies:

  • Demonstrated excellence building public facing UX in an Enterprise setting. Be prepared to show examples of your work, ideally live.
  • A history of building and managing teams where people deliver the best work of their lives in a dynamic environment where goals can conflict and desires always exceed resources
  • First-class execution - we want to understand the system by which you manage competing priorities, progress never stops and the right things get done.
  • Excellent synthesis abilities - you will not be handed a graph to move. You will be asked to talk to numerous constituents and then define the graph that needs to move, convince everyone else it is the right graph, then move it - iteratively, continuously, tirelessly.
  • Influence through persuasion - you need to convince teams that do not work for you to see things your way. Your communication skills and EQ will need to be excellent.  You’re able to speak with ease to customers, engineers, colleagues and executives
  • A track-record of driving excellence throughout the organizations you serve. We want to hear not just about the things you shipped but the difficult cases where you had to say no.

Bonus Points

  • Understanding the modern UX stack with enough fidelity to hold your own with engineers will be highly beneficial. An engineering background would be helpful. An alternate source of credibility on this front might come from having developed a web property yourself.
  • Data-fluency - there is no team of analysts at Cloudflare. Can you work directly with data yourself to build confidence in your views and can you use that same data to persuade others?
  • At Cloudflare it’s pretty helpful to understand how the Internet really works at layers 2 through 7. If you don’t have this, be prepared to speak with mastery about another realm of similar complexity.

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

  • For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $226,000 - $276,000
  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $252,000 - $308,000
  • For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $266,000 - $325,000

Equity

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.

Senior Product Designer, Growth

Khan Academy is hiring a Remote Senior Product Designer, Growth

ABOUT KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission to deliver a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Our proven learning platform offers free, high-quality supplemental learning content and practice that cover Pre-K - 12th grade and early college core academic subjects, focusing on math and science. We have over 155 million registered learners globally and are committed to improving learning outcomes for students worldwide, focusing on learners in historically under-resourced communities.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our students, teachers, and parents come from all walks of life, and so do we. Our team includes people from academia, traditional/non-traditional education, big tech companies, and tiny startups. We hire great people from diverse backgrounds and experiences because it makes our company stronger. We value diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as necessary to achieve our mission and impact the communities we serve. We know that transforming education starts in-house with learning about ourselves and our colleagues. We strive to be world-class in investing in our people and commit to developing you as a professional.

THE ROLE

Imagine being a teacher in Sarasota, Florida, four years after the pandemic started, with a classroom full of 6th graders who haven’t had a normal year of school or learning since 2019. It’s the reality of so many educators and students who use Khan Academy – and our team is uniquely positioned to help them when they need it most.

We have no end of fascinating challenges that can only be solved with a deep empathy for our users, diligent product & UX thinking, and a strong drive to make a positive impact. Some questions we’re working on answering right now are:

  • How do we support teachers who are dealing with the impact that the pandemic had on learning?
  • How do we help students with learning gaps catch up to their grade level?
  • How do we center schools serving historically under-resourced communities in our product design and development?
  • How do we reach more school districts so our learning experience gets used in more classrooms?
  • …and more

The best part? Our work matters: catch Sal talking to CNBC about low math and reading test scores.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to embed within our Product Growth team and help us scale product adoption among users. The heart of this role is identifying opportunities to improve the user journey from acquisition to engagement, and designing experiences and features that contribute to the success of our products. You will help drive sign up conversion and ensure that new users find it easy and rewarding to use Khan Academy and Khanmigo regularly.

Some of the projects you will work on:

  • Experimenting with different conversion strategies for core Khan Academy.
  • Experimenting with different conversion strategies and growth loops for Khanmigo.
  • Improving time-to-value for new Khanmigo signups.
  • Supporting scaling into new international markets.

You will play a vital role on an inclusive, collaborative, small but mighty Design team, helping us fulfill the mission of the organization: to provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Design has a seat on the Product Leadership Team, making Design a keystone in the way we “deliver wow” (one of our values), and means that you’ll never have to justify the importance of your work or why you should be included.

We genuinely care about people and value compassion in our everyday interactions. You’ll be able to be yourself, feel valued, supported, learn and grow, no matter how experienced you are. Even if you don’t check every box (no one does), we encourage you to apply.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Drive the end-to-end design strategy and execution for Product Growth projects, from early concepts to polished user experiences.
  • Deliver design solutions that balance the company’s mission, a seamless branded experience for end users, and ease of implementation.
  • Autonomously move your own work forward in partnership with PM and Eng, using proactive communication and effective planning strategies.
  • Cultivate a growth mindset (another one of our values) by soliciting feedback on solutions from internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and the Design team during critiques.
  • Seek out, understand, incorporate and communicate user feedback throughout the design process, in partnership with UX Research and Data.
  • Build alignment across diverse teams by successfully presenting ideas to a range of teams and stakeholders across Khan Academy.
  • Write about, present, and share what you have learned, both internally and with the wider Design community via our blog and industry events.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5+ years of experience as a product/UX designer.
  • 3+ years of experience designing on product-led growth teams.
  • Comfortable building experiences with Webflow  and Figma (show us in your portfolio).
  • Strong across interaction design, prototyping, and information architecture, with a keen eye for visual design and experience using quant/qual to make data-informed decisions.
  • Track record of executing successful growth strategy through your design skill set, relationship building, and team alignment on desired outcomes.
  • Ability to juggle ambiguous and broad problems/opportunities along with smaller, well-defined projects.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences with neurodivergent and neurotypical, technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Comfortable in ambiguous situations and dynamic environments that run similar to a startup, where you regularly interact with and gather feedback from Senior Leadership.
  • Scrappy, have a bias toward action, and can move quickly.
  • Lean approach to delivering design solutions and regularly ask yourself: how do we learn quickly and ship regularly? What’s the most concise experience we can deliver that still provides value?
  • Motivated by our company mission and a desire to tangibly improve the lives of millions by applying your talents.
  • Bonus if you have experience with freemium models.
  • Bonus if you have strong copywriting skills (show us in your portfolio) and a good sense of humor.

Qualities we value in ourselves, and those who join our team:

  • Introspective, mature, low-ego, and emotionally intelligent.
  • Invested in your own growth and the growth of our Design team colleagues.
  • Proactively seek out the people/information you need to move work forward and unblock yourself.
  • High comfort level working within a strong top-down product and pedagogical vision led by our CEO, Sal Khan, and our Chief Learning Officer, Kristen DiCerbo, PhD.
  • Able to balance the immediate tactical needs of helping deliver and ship features with scouting ahead for what’s next.
  • Willing to roll your sleeves up and pitch in when a project goes off-script.
  • Passionate about education and designing engaging learning experiences, deeply curious about how and why people learn.

NOTE: Submitting a portfolio with your application is required. We're looking for a portfolio that highlights the parts of your background and experience that are relevant to the job description. Applications without a portfolio link or attachment (plus password if required) will not be considered.

[24-03] Full-Time > Remote Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Developer

Security RootsLondon, GB Remote
postgresDesignjquerysassapiUXrubydockermysql

Security Roots is hiring a Remote [24-03] Full-Time >Remote Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Developer

Make a difference in the lives of 1,000s of ethical hackers building the tools they need.

Our tool, Dradis Framework, is used by 1,000s of hacking experts in over 40 countries around the world. We're looking for folks who like to solve problems and build a business and product that people genuinely love to interact with.

We're small, self-funded, profitable, and have been in business for 13 years.

What's the opportunity?

We're looking to hire our 11th full-time employee, a well-rounded Rails developer.

In this role, you will learn a ton and be part of a small, global, and user-centered company. You'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of 1,000s of ethical hackers. Plus, as a small team, you will have a lot of choices about what to work on, and there are still a lot of untapped opportunities for you to grow as the company does.

What we offer and what we are looking for:

You'll be a trusted and key member of our team where you'll be working on a large application with an interesting architecture. This is (some of) what you'll end up doing on a day-to-day basis:

  • Build features that improve the experience for our users, and help them get the results they need.
  • Design solutions and propose ideas.
  • Make architecture decisions.
  • Detect opportunities to enhance and improve our stack.
  • Extend the coverage of our API layer.
  • Improve our existing products and internal systems. We want to learn from you as you learn from us.
  • Prioritize and decide what features we should tackle next.

Our stack:

  • Rails 7 (although we started with Rails 1.2 in 2007)
  • JS, Stimulus, CoffeeScript, and Sass
  • Bootstrap and jQuery
  • Postgres, MySQL, and SQLite
  • Sinatra, Resque, Middlemanapp, Chef, Docker, Nginx, Unicorn, Puma...

We're looking for a solid Rubyist with «adequate» experience who is comfortable in a 100% distributed team and is self-driven.

This is a full-time position for the right candidate and it has an immediate start date. Work 100% remotely on a flexible schedule with reasonable overlap with EU business hours.

About you

Ideally, you've held a remote position before, or you've held a similar position of responsibility in a traditional organization but now are looking to improve your work-life balance.

You are a well-rounded individual, work is not everything in life, you may have a family and social life. You work hard when it's work time and are able to switch off when it isn't.

You're comfortable communicating with others verbally and in writing. Our team is spread across the world, and so are our users.

You are organized, like to be on top of your responsibilities, and don't let things slip through the cracks. You're able to manage your time effectively and prioritize tasks. You will be sure to include the name of your favorite TV series as part of your application.

You take initiative and ownership to see things through to completion. You are able to manage yourself and don't need heavy direction to get things done.

You like to continuously hone your skills, share your knowledge, propose new ideas, and design solutions for a variety of problems.

A knack for design / UX will be a plus. A background in Information Security wouldn't hurt either.

You believe in giving back to the community. We started with an open-source project and to this day we remain firm believers in open-source and giving back. Most of what you will be creating with the team will be released as open-source.

Benefits of working with us

  • Work anywhere - We're 100% remote.
  • Flexible work hours - Provided you have reasonable overlap with the team (roughly within US/Eastern business hours).
  • Great salary - You will be making more than others in your region.
  • Flexible vacation - Take time off when you need it, we trust you (no less than 4 weeks each year).
  • No external pressures - Our users are king, we do what's best for them. We're self-funded, and don't have any investors, so we can make the right decisions for our customers without worrying about artificial deadlines or financial targets.
  • Autonomy - You will be given a lot of freedom to do what you think is right, without needing to explain every decision.
  • Meaningful work - You will take initiative and ownership to see things through to completion. We won't micro-manage you. And your work will be measured by your results.
  • You'll be working in the two greatest markets in the world these days... Software & Security.
  • You will have great hardware and tools to work with.
