About the Role -

We are seeking a Sr. Analyst, Tax Technology (Compliance & Controversy) to join our Global Tax Technology team. This important role will support our tax compliance and controversy data requests, process automation, and cross-functional partnerships, with a focus on Compliance and Controversy. The ideal candidate should have meticulous attention to detail and be prepared to work cross-functionally and collaboratively, supporting monthly indirect compliance, controversy requests, and multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment. About the Team -

The Tax Team at Instacart is instrumental in optimizing the company's tax strategy by reducing overall tax expenses through effective planning, while ensuring compliance with all Corporate Income Tax and Sales and Use Tax regulations. The team is comprised of specialized units: Tax Technology, Indirect Tax, Direct Tax, and Tax Project Management Office (PMO). About the Job 

  • Responsible for assisting the tax team with a variety of data, system, and process automation requests with a focus on data for tax compliance and controversy. 
  • Responsible for establishing and ensuring data quality and consistency with our internal partners through reconciliation processes and procedures
  • Responsible for identifying and championing use cases for streamlining compliance and audit processes in an effort to increase efficiencies
  • Responsible for assisting with process automation across the tax function using Alteryx, RPA, and other relevant tools

  • Oversee accounting for capitalized website development projects, ensuring accurate capitalization and compliance with relevant accounting standards

About the Team

As part of a dynamic and growing finance organization, the Senior Accountant of Consolidations & Reporting will play a key role in the company’s global consolidation process, internal financial reporting and chart of accounts management.   • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements for the organization, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Supervise the reconciliation of intercompany balances, eliminations and adjustments as part of the consolidation process
  • Prepare, review and distribute internal financial reports, including management reports and detailed analysis of consolidated financial results to support decision-making by senior leadership

Minimum Qualifications

About the Role - In this role, you will partner closely with Catalog Product, ML, and Engineering and play a critical role in driving the “how” and execution of how we tackle Catalog goals on creating, scaling, and maintaining the accuracy of new catalog attributes (e.g. gluten-free) that are used to power experiences on the app (e.g. search filters, badges, ML models). This includes enabling our ML model pipelines used to generate data at scale through building LLM prompts, creating ground truth datasets, and evaluating the performance of ML models. You will use SQL to pull and analyze data in your day-to-day work. You will also be responsible for managing 3rd party vendors that provide catalog product data that is surfaced to customers. 

 

About the Team -The Enrichment Operations team sits within the Catalog Engineering organization. We partner with Catalog Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Machine Learning (ML) to create and measure the quality of new catalog data/attributes that are used to power customer experiences in all Instacart products (e.g., Marketplace, Caper, Storefront Pro). The catalog/product data are the foundation upon which customer experiences are built.

 

About the Job 

AI Enablement (40%)

    • Scale attribute data generation using ML. Collaborate with ML on attribute ML models and human-in-the-loop methodologies. You are responsible for building ground truth datasets, advising ML on what input data should be used, and building LLM prompts. You will also develop sourcing strategies on the best way to generate data for new attributes to power customer experiences. This requires thinking from both a technical/data point of view while also understanding how data should be presented to a customer on the app.
    • Evaluate model outputs (including criteria to decide on accuracy of outputs) to provide feedback to the ML team to improve models. This may involve reviewing and leading work from QA team members.

Driving Cross-Functional Projects (40%)

    • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and ML to execute on projects that roll up to catalog OKRs (e.g., increase attribute coverage).
    • Independently lead key projects and manage against catalog OKRs. This involves collaborating and aligning with a cross-functional team of technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve the goals of a project within a defined timeframe. 

Analytics and Vendor Management (20%)

    • Manage relationships and data pipelines with 3rd party vendors and data providers that provide catalog data to Instacart. Use SQL to analyze data and present data-driven business recommendations. 

 

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of working experience in roles that involved project management, project delivery, stakeholder management, strategy and operations, and/or data analysis/analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, economics, IT management, or related field.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects end-to-end, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, ML, and DS teams preferred. Proven track record of strong ownership and bias to action to drive key business results.
  • Ability to blend business acumen with technical understanding to drive operational strategy and execution.
  • Intermediate knowledge in Excel, Google Sheets, and SQL. Experience using analytical skills to pull, analyze, and make data-driven business decisions.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with databases that contain large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Working knowledge of APIs and data integrations.
  • Experience working at an e-commerce, retail, or technology company.
  • Experience crafting LLM prompts.

Our backend systems power the frontend clients used by millions of customers every year to buy their groceries online. These systems must also support tight integration with the largest retailers in the US and Canada. Engineering at Instacart provides the opportunity to work on challenging scaling problems while also designing the features that will define our industry. As a Senior Software Engineer in our Privacy Engineering team, you will be responsible for building the core privacy components that product teams across Instacart use to ensure our Customers can be in control of their data. In this role you will help connect our Customers to cutting edge privacy systems we have developed and deployed internally.

About the Team

The Privacy team is a platform team in the Security Engineering organization that believes it should be easy to build products that respect our user’s privacy. To do this, we manage our internal data privacy architecture that includes systems to annotate, find, and delete data across production and offline data storage systems. Additionally, we build the front end components that product teams across Instacart use to give our users direct access to these internal systems.

The Privacy team is a member of our core Privacy working group, that includes our Legal team, Compliance team, Operations team, and privacy partners for each of our main product pillars. Additionally we work closely with our Infrastructure, Data Platform, and Security engineering teams to ensure privacy controls are in place effectively across all levels of our stack.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and sustaining the comprehensive access controls and governance systems that improve the integrity and privacy of our data.
  • Ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of the data platform.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders and actively involving data infrastructure.

 

About you

MinimumQualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Builds and collaborates with our backend privacy engineers on the internal systems that enable privacy by design, touching all aspects of our full tech stack to turn privacy controls into reusable components..
  • Develops scalable and pragmatic controls related to data collection, classification, storage, access, usage, and deletion in data warehouse environments and/or operational data systems.
  • Communicates capably and is comfortable seeking and receiving feedback.
  • Possesses strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Takes a strong sense of ownership while working with large codebases and diverse suite of products.
  • Embraces a collaborative mindset to partner with engineers, designers, and PMs from multiple teams to co-create impactful solutions while supporting system contributions.
  • Communicates clearly, presents ideas well, and can influence key stakeholders at manager, director, and VP levels.

Preferred Qualifications

We would love it if you:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or can demonstrate equivalent industry experience (4+ years).
  • Have prior work experience in Software, Security or Privacy Engineering.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
  • Strong knowledge of common back-end web technologies (such as Ruby on Rails, Python, Golang, SQL, etc.) and big data technologies (such as Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Flink) in a large scale distributed system environment
  • Have proven experience with distributed system designs.
  • Possess strong general programming and algorithm skills.
  • Show strong attention to detail and accuracy in your implementation.
  • Appreciate a data-driven mindset.
  • An ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, to serve as an advocate & evangelist for the Privacy team

About the Role - 

As Instacart continues its rapid expansion, we are looking to add a Retention SDR Manager to our Brand Partnerships team. The Retention SDR Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Retention SDRs as they develop and grow brand relationships at Instacart. The Retention SDR Manager will coach their team on sales best practices, turning data into insights, and the CPG, advertising and eCommerce landscape, as well as work cross functionally to grow the business. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, can work in a fast-paced environment, and has sales leadership experience in advertising (paid search a plus), CPG, or eCommerce.

The Retention Sales Development Representative (rSDR) team exists to build relationships with Emerging-Scaled advertisers post activation. Through these relationships, rSDRs help Emerging-Scaled advertisers to optimize campaigns, prevent churn, prioritize growth and deliver on long term revenue.

  • Lead and develop a team of high-performing Retention SDRs to achieve quarterly revenue goals
