SONALAKE is hiring a Remote Backend Engineer (Java)

Sonalake is a software partnering company that helps our clients realise their product roadmaps. Product design and engineering are at the heart of our business. Our engineering teams work with clients right across the stack; UX, UI design, frontend, backend, analytics, infrastructure, operations - and everything else that goes into delivering great products.

We thrive on variety and are highly adaptable. Our teams are exposed to domains as varied as telecom billing, ad tech, securities-based lending, travel tech analytics, and many more.

Innovation is central to our mission; anticipating future client needs, analysing emerging technologies and developing new products and services.

We are now seeking to grow our backend development capability. That’s where you come in!

You will

  • Develop rock solid efficient server-side applications
  • Write clean, readable, well-commented, maintainable code
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with designers and other developers
  • Contribute to product innovation and our open source projects
  • Help evolve and improve our development standards, tooling, and processes

You may be a fit for this role if you

  • Have 5 years hands-on software engineering experience
  • Have developed business applications using some of the following technologies
    • Java, Kotlin
    • Spring, Quarkus, Micronaut
    • Hibernate, JPA, logging and telemetry frameworks
  • Worked with Jenkins, Docker, Git and are very comfortable working from the Linux command line and with scripting languages
  • Have experience designing for and working with Amazon Web Services
  • Worked on teams that have shipped and operated critical software systems
  • Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Are a great communicator in English - both written and spoken
  • Thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility within a knowledge sharing culture

Focusing on architecture and pipeline design and development, our engineering practice designs and builds data platforms and analytics applications. We are now seeking to grow this team. That’s where you come in!

You will

  • Work with other engineers in the company to design, build, and produce data-intensive applications and pipelines
  • Build new pipelines and adapt existing ones to accommodate changes in data formats and new requirements
  • Extract data from external sources, clean the data, run jobs with this data, and verify the results (working with AWS Athena, AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions, AWS Lambda, Python with Pandas and AWS Wrangler libraries for ETL operations, CloudWatch, IAM, Lake Formation)
  • Diagnose production issues
  • Modify SQL database schemas and assist with the design and implementation
  • Cooperate with the BI team in dashboard delivery
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to address ongoing issues related to resources, components, and environment setup
  • Improve data engineering standards, tooling, and processes

You may be a fit for this role if you

  • Have 3 years hands-on software engineering experience (in Java; Python is a nice have)
  • Are interested in Data Engineering and DevOps topics
  • Enjoy and have experience wrangling data and designing and building data pipelines to power reporting and analytics applications
  • Used some of the following tools:
    • AWS
    • AWS Athena, AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions, AWS Lambda
    • Relational databases, SQL, AWS Wrangler libraries, Pandas
    • CloudWatch, IAM, Lake Formation
  • Have worked with the Linux command line
  • Have worked on teams that have shipped and operated critical software systems

We are now seeking to grow our team. That’s where you come in! We are looking for 2 QA Engineers (1 QA with Java and 1 QA with C#), living in Poland, Slovakia, Ireland or Hungary (and only in these countries).

You will

  • Work closely with the rest of the development team developers to identify, create and evolve test cases and test plans
  • Identify opportunities for automation of software functionality and processes and implement those ideas as code
  • Design and execute QA tests using both software automation and manual test procedures (backend and frontend)
  • Learn to run tests that validate: applications, databases, systems and software.

You may be a fit for this role if you

  • Have 3+ years QA and testing experience with Java or C#
  • Have experience identifying test requirements and creating and executing test plans and building quality processes
  • Are experienced with Continuous Integration environments supporting large-scale cloud infrastructure using some ofthe following tools: GitLab, GitHub, Teamcity, Jenkins, AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Know your way around the Linux command line, Git, and SQL
  • Are experienced with UI or API test automation tools such as: Postman, Rest Assured, TestNG, Swagger, Allure, Cucumber (SpecFlow) or Selenium WebDriver
  • Are a great communicator, with B2 English level
  • Have previously carried out load and performance testing, security testing
