Who we're looking for

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist (Pricing) to be a pivotal contributor to our Pricing, Tooling, and Modelling team. This role involves building sophisticated risk and market models, conducting rigorous analyses, and providing actionable insights to optimise our insurance pricing strategies. As well as building these models, you will play an active role in improving and extending our analytics tooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine risk, demand, and market models using statistical techniques and actuarial methods
  • Analyse insurance data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvements
  • Collaborate with the technical and street pricing teams to implement pricing changes effectively 
  • Communicate complex data concepts and model outcomes to a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvements by integrating new tools and technologies into the pricing process

Required Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science or related field
  • Experience: Proven experience in non-life insurance pricing and modelling and advanced data science, with a strong focus on model development, deployment, and tooling
  • Technical Skills:
    • Python Proficiency: Strong Python programming skills, with experience in developing and maintaining analytics packages and tools. Familiarity with data science libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn
    • SQL: Proficient in SQL, particularly with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake
    • Data Tools: Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (we’re on AWS) and data visualisation tools (Looker, matplotlib, seaborn)
  • Software Engineering: Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and software development best practices in a data-intensive environment
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and project management skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and present complex information in a clear, accessible way

Nice To Have

  • Experience in UK motor insurance
  • Hands-on experience with insurance pricing tools like Akur8, Emblem or similar pricing modelling tools

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a Senior Pricing Actuary (Technical Pricing) who will play a key role in defining and delivering our pricing sophistication strategy aiming to implement best-in-class pricing. You will partner with the Street Pricing and Pricing, Tooling, & Modelling teams in initiating and driving the vision, strategy, and deliverables to meet key objectives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

What we are looking for

You will use a combination of outstanding analytical reasoning, business acumen, and technical skills to bring the risk, demand, and market models to an implementable, technical price. You will use your ability to analyse and understand complex data to drive decisions on technical pricing models. You will have strong cross-functional skills and will be comfortable working closely with both actuarial and non-actuarial teams. You should be a self-starter who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Pricing, Tooling & Modelling team to review, challenge, and contribute to the development of risk, demand, and market models
  • Develop the implementable, technical price based on the underlying models taking a mid- to long-term view of performance, external trends, costs etc.
  • Collaborate closely with the Street Pricing team to bring the technical price to market, with required commercial adjustments.
  • Define and drive the Pricing Sophistication Strategy and Roadmap for Zego including a continuous monitoring of the performance of all technical prices
  • Develop, implement, and monitor KPIs aimed at the forward looking performance of each book, including the expected, prospective rating strength
  • Analyse insurance data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvements
  • Collaborate with product, tech, and pricing teams to implement pricing changes effectively 
  • Communicate key results and uncertainties to stakeholders and relevant committees

Required Skills

As the Claims Fraud Team Leader at Zego, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of fraud Investigators dedicated to detecting, investigating and fighting fraudulent claims. Your primary focus will be on managing the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring that fraud cases are handled proactively but with laser focus on quality and excellence whilst also understanding applying a commercial and pragmatic approach..   • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Lead, manage, and develop a team of claims fraud investigators/claims handlers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

    • Ensure the team operates efficiently, with well-defined roles, responsibilities, and objectives.

  • Fraud Detection & Investigation:
    • Oversee the detection, investigation, and resolution of potential fraud cases within the claims process.

    • Review and approve fraud investigation reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Operational Management:
    • Manage the daily operations of the claims fraud team, including case assignment, workload distribution, and process optimisation.

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track team performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with other departments, including Claims teams, Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, and Customer Service, to ensure a coordinated approach to fraud prevention.
    • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as panel solicitors, law enforcement, industry bodies, and fraud prevention networks, to enhance fraud detection capabilities.
    • Communicate findings and insights from fraud investigations to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Training & Development:
    • Identify training needs within the team and provide appropriate development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Complete regular quality audits on claims investigators

Purpose of role

It’s an exciting time to join Zego and we are looking for a Compliance Specialist to join our growing team. 

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual who is eager to make a difference. As a Compliance Specialist reporting to the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, you will play a critical role in maintaining and monitoring the enforcement of Zego’s compliance management framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. 

You will work closely with business units to identify, assess, and prioritise opportunities, and issues, and support them as they consider core regulatory requirements that are critical to their business functions.

What you will be doing

  • Helping to develop and execute a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Programme, in line with the applicable FCA regulations. 
  • Providing regulatory input into business initiatives and new product proposals that is consistent with Zego’s risk tolerances. 
  • Identifying and managing risks, ensuring that the relevant control environments are operating effectively and that key controls are tested and deficiencies are addressed. 
  • Reviewing and monitoring compliance against the governance frameworks and applicable regulations, with a particular focus on customer outcomes.  
  • Producing management information for various internal and external audiences to support data-driven decision-making, particularly in relation to customer and product.  
  • Providing support, education and training to the wider Zego team about compliance. 
  • Advising various business units on compliance-related queries

What you will need to be successful

  • You have experience advising on and applying applicable legislation, regulations and guidance covering regulatory compliance processes in a financial services business, for example, ICOBS, SYSC and IDD. 
  • You are organised and able to plan ahead, manage multiple projects, provide progress updates and escalate where needed. 
  • Your written and verbal communication skills are excellent, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner. 
  • You’ll have a curious and investigative mind with a desire to improve things and make sure the customer is at the heart of everything we do. 
  • You have experience working with and coordinating multiple-stakeholders to implement changes to business processes.

The role

As EICL's Portfolio Management Actuary, you will be ensuring that the results are delivered against the agreed business plan. Bringing all functions together – like the conductor of an orchestra - you will proactively look for opportunities and challenges, communicate your findings to senior stakeholders, and ensure actions are taken quickly and effectively.

Here’s what you’ll be doing

  • Redesigning and automating our MI so we make better and faster decisions????
  • Managing our portfolios to accelerate profitable growth????
  • Supporting the data analysis and actuarial relationship with our reinsurers????‍????
  • Communicating key results and uncertainties to stakeholders and relevant committees
  • Providing assistance to the Pricing, Finance, Claims, Reinsurance and Underwriting teams as appropriate

What you will need to be successful in the role

  • A qualified or part-qualified actuary, you have minimum 3 years of experience in motor personal or commercial lines. Experience in UK motor is a bonus.
  • You have experience with statistical software such as SQL, R, Excel VBA or similar.
  • Experience with MI tools such as PowerBI, QlikView, Tableau or similar is a plus.
  • You have hands-on experience as either a Pricing Actuary or Portfolio Management Actuary
  • You have the ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • You are comfortable navigating shifting priorities.
  • You are an excellent communicator, confidently articulating your ideas and perspectives individually and across the organisation.
  • You are analytical and able to draw extensive insights from qualitative and quantitative data.
  • You are commercially savvy and enjoy the challenge of adapting to the evolving needs of an ambitious, high-growth business.

General

This role would be primarily home-based (either in Gibraltar or nearby in Spain) although there may be a requirement for occasional travel to the London office.
