Job Responsibilities 

  • Working directly with customers via phone and email to respond to technical issues.
  • Providing escalated technical and triage support for other team members.

Job Responsibilities 

People Management

  • Manage 6+ technical customer service engineers in a multilingual environment.
  • Create a team culture and environment that is customer and employee-focused.
  • Understand the team and individual’s technical needs by providing regular coaching, mentoring & constructive feedback.
  • Develop all levels of employees within our organisation to ensure successful succession planning by setting and tracking development goals and implementing PIP (Performance Improvement Plans) when performance issues are identified. Follow a people-first approach to ensure this.
  • Participate as an evaluator of soft & technical skills to support the hiring and interviewing processes.

Response Management, Product & Process Improvement

  • Act as a Technical Incident Manager for infrastructure and services outages on large-scale cloud applications (AWS), in-house applications, and local bugs.
  • Drive continuous process improvements/initiatives to increase productivity, improve customer satisfaction (CSAT) and consistently meet business KPIs.
  • Represent the customer to internal stakeholders in our Product and Engineering teams and ensure that our product and documentation reflect our customers’ needs.
  • Participate in global reviews of the organisational tools, performance, and policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvements and standardisation across sites globally.
  • Establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.

Reporting & Communication

  • Interact with senior management and executives concerning cross-functional areas and responsibilities.
  • Clearly communicate updates on performance against targets and objectives to senior management and executives.

Qualifications/Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science preferred but not required)
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a customer-facing environment with a minimum of 3+ years in team/people management, with the ability to demonstrate management experience achieving adherence to Service Level Agreements. 
  • Experience delivering on global strategic initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and experience.
  • Experience managing large enterprise customer partner relationships and advocating for technical issues or needs.
  • Required to be flexible, detail-oriented, and organised, as well as have the ability to multitask.
  • Native Japanese and business-level English communication skills with a strong customer focus.

The Product Manager will own the definition and requirements for our VOD Delivery platform. Our ideal candidate is someone familiar with internet video delivery at large scale, and can work with both internal and external customers to build a vision for the product, determine appropriate success metrics, and drive execution of the roadmap. The Product Manager is expected to understand the market, the customer, and the business in order to make sound decisions on product features, priorities, and backlog - working closely with engineering, program management, and stakeholders from the field organization, marketing and definitional customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the video delivery platform, which includes JIT HLS and DASH packaging, VOD SSAI, and video metadata delivery, all at a global scale.
  • Partner with our Ingest, Advertising, Players, and Data product managers to ensure a seamless customer experience across the Brightcove platform.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to develop technical vision and strategy.
  • Work closely with a team of engineers and program management to deliver this vision and strategy.
  • Enumerate and document use cases and the business drivers for video delivery, segments, personas, applications, the problems our video delivery systems solve, how they work together with other Brightcove services to produce a product, and potential gaps.
  • Develop and manage a prioritized roadmap.
  • Interact with customers and end users of the product to learn details for feature/product definition and prioritization.
  • Create requirements and stakeholders to communicate use cases and applications to the Product Management team, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Create epics, user stories and acceptance criteria from the business feature functionality presented by product management.
  • Collaborate with customer care and product support teams to understand support needs and issues.
  • Manage the feature request process and keep an updated release plan for the products you cover.
  • Give feedback regarding the achievement of the sprint goal in the sprint review.
  • Understand technical alternatives and the relative costs and benefits of each while challenging engineers to think outside the existing codebase and what they’ve been doing.
  • Evaluate and partner with vendors to deliver complete end-to-end solutions.

 A successful Product Manager in the Brightcove product management team will use both qualitative and quantitative skills to assess product usage data, market research, customer feedback, design feedback, and sales feedback to propose improvements that will drive our video delivery — and Brightcove as a whole — to winning positions in the market. 

Qualifications/Experience 

  • 8+ years hands-on product management experience
  • 3+ years experience working with online video technologies. You understand the current landscape of codecs and streaming formats and have a point of view on where things are heading.
  • Technical fluency with the ability to speak credibly to both engineering teams and outside technical partners
  • Degree in computer science or other related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience defining a customer value proposition and driving a business case for a product investment
  • Strategic thinker with detail-oriented execution in a way that gets things done in a fast-paced, globally distributed organization
  • Proven outstanding team collaboration including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaborator who is also sufficiently self-directed

You will be expected to develop working relationships across many functions at Brightcove, and be a trusted partner and advisor to our new business prospects within the media vertical in the US. You will also be a partner and advocate for our delivery teams who will be building the solutions.  

Our ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in solution consulting selling in a design and build agency or a technical services environment (pure technical services or professional services within a product organization). The candidate should have an understanding of the mobile and living room device app ecosystem that is used for streaming content, with a passion for creating seamless, user friendly experiences. They  should also have a solid grasp of how streaming experiences are built from a backend and system integration perspective, and have the confidence to take prospects and customers on a journey to transformation using a combination of strategic and tactical guidance, and technical expertise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Business Development.  Client Solutions Directors work in close partnership with the Brightcove Account Executives in the US Media team to identify opportunities within our targeted accounts and new prospects, helping to strategize, market and sell the value of buying and using services to build a desired solution.
  • Solution Strategy.  Client Solutions Directors work closely with prospects to help formulate transformation strategies and tactics on building and succeeding with apps , OTT platforms and streaming experiences.
  • Solution Ownership. Client Solutions Directors work closely with the prospects, sales leads and solution engineers,  advising, guiding and taking ownership of the technical solution from the initial point of contact with a prospect to SOW signature.

A perfect candidate for a Technical Lead in Brightcove’s Global Services team will have strong hands-on coding skills; have organized and led distributed teams while building best practices (unit testing, code reviews, security and performance audits); and, most importantly, will have delighted clients with their teams’ work.  The Technical Lead partners with the Project Manager on each project to ensure a quality and timely deliverable that will delight the customer. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Consulting: Technical Leads are part of the senior team that manage the client and are called upon to facilitate user requirements sessions, design technical specifications, and manage development of documentation to meet client expectations.  In conjunction with a Project Manager, Technical Leads are expected to provide both technical and solution expertise for clients and client engagements.
  • Solution Development: Technical Leads work with Solution Architects and Business Analysts to create solutions for various client needs.  Technical Leads support the analysis of client processes and recommend new business models, workflows, or solutions to best meet client needs.
  • Leadership: Technical Leads manage all technical aspects of the project and also contribute directly by writing code, managing builds and performing other hands-on tasks.  Technical Leads are responsible for the enforcement and guidance of project technical best practices and standards.  Technical Leads have the ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Team Management:Technical Leads manage varying sized project teams to successfully deliver agreed-upon solutions of the highest quality, exceeding customer expectations.  They mentor and guide less experienced consultants.  They are expected to be role models for best practices and to provide technical knowledge sharing.  

 

Skills/Qualifications/Experience

  • 8+ years experience as a technical developer or related work experience; 2+ years in technical leadership roles; experience in a project-based consulting environment
  • Expertise implementing solutions from a defined architecture for various problem types
  • Extensive knowledge in the areas of custom software development: OO Design Patterns; microservices, middleware, etc.
  • Strong proficiency with at least one server-side language (Node.js and/or Python preferred) required
  • Strong proficiency with vanilla JavaScript
  • Strong Object Oriented Programming skills
  • Deep understanding of the React JavaScript framework
  • Understanding data security compliance and security best practices
  • Experience in profiling, debugging and troubleshooting systems
  • Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases; data modeling/design techniques; data interface protocols; database deployment and scalability; database tuning
  • Strong understanding of designing and implementing proper REST APIs
  • Extensive experience with designing systems for scale and reuse, source code management strategies, and release management
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communications skills; as well as strong and effective presentation and facilitation skills
  • Willingness to travel to client locations and collaborate with distributed delivery teams as needed
  • Solid knowledge of system administration and software and hardware configuration and production system deployments; ability to make informed recommendations to customer IT staff; ability to troubleshoot pre- and post-production implementations; security; load balancing and performance
  • AWS experience strongly preferred
  • Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs. desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
  • Knowledge of web accessibility and SEO a plus
  • JIRA and Confluence experience a plus

Working Environment

This role is a hybrid role and thus you must live in a commutable distance to the London office. Interaction and cross team interaction is valuable to us so we would like you to meet with the team regularly, in the London office. We hold quarterly BSocial events so that you can connect with the team.
