Core responsibilities:
- Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
- Leads and supports the accounting team; helps with development through ongoing performance management, career development, training, and mentoring
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for annual audits
- Partners with external CPA firm on state and federal income tax filings
- Manages state franchise and sales tax filings
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
- Implements new accounting guidelines and standards as necessary
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Ten years or more of related experience
+ 1 Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant designation preferred
- Experience leading and managing operations of an accounting department
- Prior track record in a high-growth start up, small team company
- Industry experience in technology, professional services, or SaaS
- Located in Central or Eastern time zones
