What is the role? 

As a senior mechanical engineer you are responsible for developing our next generation satellite structures, deployable mechanisms and related hardware. You are a professional team player who will communicate and collaborate effortlessly with our other engineering teams to achieve common goals. Your daily tasks include:

    • Load carrying satellite structures development in close cooperation with our thermal- and structural analysis teams
    • Antenna structures development together with our RF- and Electronic teams
    • Working with separation systems integration
    • Following up both satellite production and R&D projects manufacturing
    • Engineering MGSE equipment in cooperation with AIT-team
    • Mentoring and coaching the junior members of the team

To be successful in this role we expect you to have:

    • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in aerospace, or relevant high tech product engineering
    • Proven track record on engineering both metallic and composite load carrying structures
    • Experience from satellite deployable structures and mechanisms
    • Experience in engineering bolted and bonded hybrid material joints

Job Summary:

As a Sr. Product Support Engineer, you will provide product and system support to our full portfolio of clients. You may also participate in on-call schedules to help cover off-business hours support. You will need to become an expert user of our end-to-end fraud prevention platform, and provide timely and fast-paced responses to clients via our Zendesk ticket system. You will also work closely with our product team to provide customer feedback on different product usability. The Sr. Product Support Engineer will also work closely with our on-call engineering teams to troubleshoot product and system issues, and will be expected to understand our system architecture. Specific Job Duties:

  • Provide fast-paced product and technical support to full portfolio of DataVisor clients via our support ticketing system
  • Ability to triage support requests in an effective manner to ensure request prioritization is maintained
  • Help monitor and manage internal alerts and dashboards in relation to system health, including but not limited to: API throughput and latency, UI functionalities, batch data pipelines, data backup and high availability system failover setup
  • Gain and maintain deep knowledge about DataVisor products, system architecture, and customer use cases to independently provide timely support to customers on the basic product and system support requests
  • Work closely with various Engineering teams (Infrastructure, Platform, Frontend, QA, etc.) and Product team on the escalation of serious product bugs or system issues, and facilitate the issue investigation, root cause analysis, and progress updates internally and externally 
  • Give clear explanation both internally and externally throughout the request handling process to ensure internal teams understand the issues and customer requests, and customers understand the technical explanation from internal teams about root cause and workaround suggestions 
  • Use Zendesk and Jira systems to document the issue symptoms, steps to reproduce, basic triage findings, Engineering investigation findings, possible workarounds, and solution planning 
  • Ability to analyze and track recurring support issues and trends to provide feedback on product enhancements and training

  • 3+ years of technical support experience in SaaS companies in Big Data Analytics industry  
  • 1+ years of experience using and/or supporting real time data processing or Decision Engine type products
  • B.A./B.S. degree in a technical or analytical discipline
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in fast-paced environment
  • Strong time and project management ability with focus to ensure deadlines are met

Description

As a Product Success Engineer at Cobalt, you will shape and scale our support processes, documentation, tools and workflows. Part of your time will be dedicated to directly supporting our customers and staff by triaging inquiries from various channels, providing Level 1 support (via chat, email, or video calls) for common inquiries or facilitating and tracking escalation flows. What You'll Do

  • Support Excellence: Triage customer and internal support inquiries, directly providing Level 1 support or escalating to appropriate teams, and tracking cases to ensure quick and effective resolution. Common issues you’ll support with may include:
  1. Consulting customers on how to best utilize, customize and implement Cobalt’s integration and API solutions
  2. Helping users optimize their configuration of our automated security tools to maximize coverage and efficacy for their applications

  4. Facilitating operational workflows and coordinating internal approvals

You Have

  • Proven Expertise: Minimum of 3 years of technical product support experience.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of proven experience in mechanical design and development, or similar. with a strong portfolio of successful projects

  • Proven track record of developing certified and scalable products 

  • Proficient in using CAD software (Autodesk Fusion 360, and Inventor), and simulation tools (e.g. finite element analysis (FEA) tools)

  • Mastery of selecting motors, mechanical components, manufacturing methods and implementing best Design for Manufacturing (DfM) practices

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities

  • Strong English written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

The position is responsible for the engineering design of new automated waterblast systems and accessories, as well as maintaining and improving current tool designs to enhance StoneAge’s product offerings. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for product design from conception through sustainment. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer shall also serve to mentor more junior engineers and provide technical oversight as appropriate.  

 

This position reports to the Director of Engineering. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

 

Product Design: 

  • Present new product ideas to Engineering team via the Engineering Meeting. Must have a collaborative nature. 
  • Participate in the requirement development process for new products via end-user interface, and collaboration with the Business Development, Marketing and Engineering Teams.  
  • Assess new engineering projects for viability (design limitations, cost concerns, functionality, and tradeoffs).  Present these issues to the engineering team along with recommendations for resolution. 
  • Develop designs for new products that are reliable, cost effective, and easily manufactured. 
  • Perform design analyses as appropriate (tolerance analysis, FEA, thermal, flow).  
  • Generate and maintain engineering drawings from internal and external design criteria and in accordance with StoneAge drawing standards.  Assist in drawing and specification interpretation to maintain quality.  
  • Estimate material/fabrication costs for new products and custom products – execute new product development to cost targets and communicate cost vs. performance conflicts early in the design. 
  • Identify and communicate patentable technology during the creation of new products.  
  • Prepare and facilitate product design reviews. Incorporate feedback into designs as permitted given product requirements. 
  • Review product design and analyses of junior team members and provide technical advice and direction.  
  • Lead design discussions and provide technical training within the weekly Engineering Meeting. 
  • Work with QC to identify critical features and tolerances and ensure measurement capabilities.   
  • Work with Purchasing, Outside Vendors and Internal Machine Shop as prototype parts are fabricated to ensure designs are manufacturable and easily inspected. 
  • Assist CAD Technician on design as needed. 
  • Track and log engineering time as appropriate. 
  • Follow the New Product Development Process. Communicate project status in real time (no surprises).  

 

Product Test: 

  • Assemble prototype products 
  • Draft test plans and perform testing for evaluating the performance, safety and reliability of prototype designs.   
  • Develop standard test methods for product and material conformance. 
  • Review and evaluate field-tested units and customer feedback on field tested units to improve product design.  

  

Product Transition: 

  • Support QC to disposition non-conforming parts related to the engineer’s product designs.  
  • Coordinate with the New Products Team (Engineering, Purchasing, QC, Operations, Sales, Business Development, and Marketing) to ensure that new product designs transition smoothly into production.    
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineer on Part ID assignment for new products or updates with existing products. 
  • Train end-users, Dealers or StoneAge staff on proper tool assembly, maintenance and operation.  
  • Create ECN’s when engineering drawings are revised and work with Production Control for recording/ implementing any reworks required outside the ECN process. 
  • Assist manufacturing in the building, testing, and training associated with new products.  
  • Assist Repair Technician on returned tools and rental items for repair and warranty. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.  
  •  5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience. 
  • CAD proficiency (Solidworks is preferred) 
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.  
  • Experience in design for manufacturing. 
  • Experience in product research and development. 
  • Hands-on mechanical or machining experience.  
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software.  

 

The Sr. Product Engineer must possess at least one of the following skills: 

  • Electro-mechanical design and control: 
  • Knowledge of servo drives, motors, design and troubleshooting experience of motion control systems. 
  • Experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and motion controls. 
  • Knowledge of or experience with integrating HMI (Human Machine Interface) with PLC and motion controls. 
  • Practical and/or product design experience in the waterblast industry or a closely related field. 
  •  
  • Solidworks simulation proficiency (Structural Analysis, Motion and Flow).

  • Travel may be required. 
  • Extended working hours may be needed at peak times or when short staffed. 
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
